  1. First off, this is a blog to track my personal progress as I'm sick of writing it in different journals and losing it...also I'm hoping to come to some insights from others along the way. I'm trying to figure out the cause of my acne which I feel is next to impossible, but I do think I can maybe figure out what things make it better and worse. For that reason I may also include diet information and what day of my cycle I'm on. Sorry if that is too personal for you but this is kind of an experi
  2. I use Aczone (dapsone gel) in the morning and Ziana (clindamycine + tretinion ) at night. How do I use Glycolic acid and how often with combination of my topical routine? Like how do I switch it around with a BHA. Also I am thinking of using ACV as a toner , maybe later but for right now I want to use a BHA and if my skin responds well then possible use AHA ( I'm planning on using Paula's choice Pore Perfecting BHA exfoliant 2% ) heard good things about this BHA and it contains Green tea which
  3. Hello all. I have been struggling with acne since I was in 8th grade. It just isn't fair how some people have perfect skin and they don't do anything. I have been on practically everything. Usually I am in a cycle and it ranges from clear, beautiful skin to breaking out a lot. Since For as long as I can remember, I have been on Oracea in the morning paired with Duac(Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin) and at night I take Ortho-Cyclen and Retin-a .04%. I use Cetaphil Moisturizer and Cleanser, and
  4. Hello fellow readers. I am at whits end with acne. I have been struggling since 8th grade, and I am currently in 12th. I have been on everything. Currently, this is my regimen. 5. Wondering if anyone in your family is using a PRESCRIPTION topical ACNE drug product (list below of some brands but you might have a generic version which is fine too). If so I'm trying to find out the "shelf life" of various products so as to determine which is best for me. If you still have original outer packaging that the tube/pump came in, it should have an expiration date on it. Please respond and note: 1) the brand/generic name 2) product form (gel, cream, foam, whatever) 3) the m
  6. Last post I was having a lot of issues with congestion. I called my dermatologist and she put me on a generic form of differin. She said it makes sense that the salslysic acid wipes were working. Honestly, I think the wipes worked better but I guess this is better for my skin. It made my face better but my back worse. So she eventually told me to stop using it on my back. I have also been takeing Oracea (40mg doxycycline). But I keep getting yeast infections. I've had 4 in 9 months.
  7. hello everyone, I normally am just the type to google my skin concerns and scroll thru millions of articles each night hoping I can find a miracle cure or something. I am a 17 year old girl, just short of 18, and I devolped acne when I was in eighth grade. acne hit my like a bus, when I was in eighth grade I would get millions of tiny whiteheads and small come done bumps on my forehead and nowhere else. I was put on loryna birth control, and a type of differin or adapelene gel. I don't really re
  8. So I'll keep this short. For the past four months I've been struggling with issues related to what I believe to be antibiotic use to treat mild acne. Before taking the antibiotics (I was prescribed a low does extended release course of Oracea usually used to treat rosacea), I had mild acne and the occasional outbreak. I went to my dermatologist to get a professional opinion who took a cursory glance at me, told me antibiotics would fix any problems of mine, wrote me a prescription and sent me on
  9. I give up! Nothing has worked except for accutane and full strength antibiotics...and these drugs can not be taken for very long. My really sensitive skin can not tolerate BP or other OTC products. I get my hopes up everytime I'm put on a new regime that maybe this one will keep me clear. And sometimes it does for several months but then the swollen bumps, redness and cysts come back in flare-ups where I have to go on a short course of antibiotics again. I'm 60 years old and way to old for
  10. I have been on some form of antibiotics for four years straight. For about 11 months I have been taking 40 mg of Oracea 1x a day and 50 mg of minocycline 2x a day. The past few months my skin has been breaking out again which tells me I have become resistant to the antibiotics. I'm considering weening off antibiotics because there is no reason I should be taking it if it isn't helping. My question is do you think that the antibiotics aren't working at all or there not working as as they used to?
  11. Quick back story: I have always struggled with breakouts since high school but four years ago during my freshman year in college my breakouts were borderlining acne. I went to my first dermatology appointment in September of 2012 and my doctor was very intelligent and kind, He prescribed me Oracea (delayed 40mg of doxycyline) and topical clindamycin solution as well as trentinoin. Oracea worked remarkably for a year, I was completely clear, then in December of 2013 my skin was as bad as befor
  12. Hello all. I have been struggling with acne since I was in 8th grade. It just isn't fair how some people have perfect skin and they don't do anything. I have been on practically everything. Usually I am in a cycle and it ranges from clear, beautiful skin(red marks), to breaking out a lot. Since For as long as I can remember, I have been on Oracea in the morning paired with Duac(Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin) and at night I take Ortho-Cyclen and Retin-a .04%. 13. Hello all- Please help. So I have been using Duac(Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin) and Retin a .04% for atleast over a year. That paired with Oracea(doxycycline 40 mg) and birth control (Ortho Cyclen) kept me clear for a very long time. I stopped taking my Oracea for 2 weeks, and my skin went crazy. I broke out on my chin with a cyst and some smaller ones. I started taking the medicine again, and it has been five weeks. I guess it is getting better, but I am still breaking out, especially o
  14. Hello there. I have been struggling with acne for 4 years now. I am 17 years old, and my skin has been under control for the past two years. All of a sudden, it went crazy! I have been on Retin-A for like 4 months. I have been on Birth Control(Tri-Nessa), Oracea, and Duac for a month. My skin is breaking out! I am not sure if it is just the medicine getting all the bad stuff out from my skin. The pimples do go away quickly just more form. Should I wait it out? Also another factor is my makeup
  15. So i just had a chemical peel done about a month ago, then i was prescribed with Oracea antibiotics, a special fluid water based moisturizer, a 10% BP face wash, Retin - A 0.1, and Tazorac 0.1. My face has been amazingly clear for the first week but two days before my second face peel my face was slowly starting to break out , and now MY FACE IS A MESS , i have NEVER had my face this bad ever... I'm just wondering what could be causing this ? I've been on a healthy diet, i've been drinking lots
