  1. does anyone have any experience using raw, unprocessed honey as a cleanser and olive oil as a moisturizer? would you recommend either, or both? thanks
  2. Hi, I'm a long-time reader, first time poster. I've been on a pursuit to cure my acne without Accutane. I've had acne since I was a teenager (I'm 38, Caucasian, female), and the only reprieve I got was from going on Accutane in my early 20s. My acne came back during my first pregnancy in my early 30s, and I have been battling with it ever since. I've been reading many forums on acne.org for several months now, and I have many of people's suggestions: I'm taking Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5 (in l
  3. Ive heard some very good things about oil cleansing, and some very bad things. Some people seem to say that after a while,(few weeks, months) they get clogged pores/breakouts/dry skin I was wondering if it's because oil cleansing is more like exfoliating,(removing deep oils in skin/massaging dead skin), and exfoliating often or everyday will dehydrate your skin. or do oils, specifically olive oil, clog pores?
  4. I'm using soap made from saponafied palm oil, coconut oil and olive oil. What is saponafied oil and will it cause breakouts?
  5. Does anyone use the Oil Cleansing Method w/ Dan's BP? If so how? Do you still use a cleanser? Which oils do you use? Has anyone tried tea tree oil for acne? Results?

  7. Hello, I have spent the past 4 hours staring at my face/picking/obsessing, and I am so sick of it. I am starting this log as mainly a way to deal with my acne. I am very sensitive about the way I look, and I always have been. I have struggled with anorexia and issues related to body dysmorphic disorder, which makes having sever acne particularly stressful and challenging. If you have any tips or advice, or just would like to offer some support/share experience dealing with acne, I w
  8. So I just started the Dan k regimen and wanted to get advice from people on the type of make up remover they use while wearing make up. I know the best thing is not to wear makeup but I do wear it. Would love to know what you guys use to remove make up that works with the regimen.

  10. I discovered this blog here on OCM and all the negative experiences these women had that exactly matched my own. - Read all the comments - http://beautyeditor....e-on-your-skin/ Around April of 2012 my boss told me about OCM and finally convinced me to try it so I bought castor oil in the drug aisle and mixed it with my extra virgin olive oil in the kitchen. I used it off and on maybe once every 2 weeks for several months...never noticed a major effect but did start noticing slightly more cl
  11. Hello Everyone! Just wondering, in your experience, what your favorite oil is to use to moisturize you skin? I just recently started using tamanu oil, and while I love what it does to my skin the scent is a little potent. I'm also interested in what oils are anti-bacterial because I think I have foliculitus happening on my chin. Thanks for your help.
  12. Last Tuesday [23 May 2012] my acne was pretty bad, not the worst it gets but bad, so i decided to give something topical a chance for once. I have been "washing" my face with oil for the last week ie: "Oil Cleansing" etc. In the mornings and through out day i am just washing face with water but after shower/bath i am gently rubbing extra virgin olive oil into my face [LMAO], then putting a hot flannel on my face, then gently rubbing excess oil off. Observations so far. [+ consideratio
  13. Hi all. I am 23 yr old male, and I have been battling acne for about 10 years. My acne is 100% for sure caused by food. Unfortunately, it is caused by a lot of foods. I notice pimples forming about 1-3 hours after eating "bad foods", and pimples can last about 5-10 days unless I eat more "bad foods" in which case the current pimples usually get some more juice and stay around longer. Anyway, this is an interesting thing I noticed. I always cook with extra virgin olive oil. I use it for dres
  14. Some Leave-in Hair Products May Cause Acne

Leave-in hair products include pomades, oils, gels, sprays, mousses, conditioners, brilliantines, and jellies that are applied to and left in the hair. These products may contain ingredients that can be irritating or pore-clogging to already sensitive, acne-prone skin. When you apply products to your hair, you can inadvertently get some of the product onto your skin, especially at the hairline. You can also transfer them to other parts of the face if you touch your hair...
  15. I haven't been able to find a definitive amount of fat recommended to be consumed with isotretinoin so I'm asking for estimations; Currently I'm taking 60mg first thing in the morning with half a pint of semi-skimmed milk and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil; is this enough? I'm not really a big morning eater unless there's an abundance of biscuits around and I'm too forgetful to split my dosage up into the daytime. Thanks for any replies
  16. Hello, fellow Acne.org users. I'm writing on behalf of all the people out there suffering from acne; oily skin, pimples, dry skin, itchiness, redness, any of that stuff. I've had mild acne throughout my teen years and have usually tried to treat it by doing what people told me to do. So I'd wash my face with antibacterial soap, then moved on to facial cleaners and such. At first, everything was not so bad, but as time went on and i kept using acne products like benzoyl peroxide creams/sacillic a
  17. How to Choose a Good Lipstick, Lip Liner, or Lip Gloss

With the enormous range of lip cosmetics available on the market, choosing a good lipstick, lip liner, or lip gloss for acne-prone skin can feel like a daunting experience. Lipstick: A soft solid that colors the lips, defines lip shape, and may provide some protection from the sun, wind, and/or dry weather Lip liner: A solid that defines the outer border of the lips and prevents migration of lipstick and lip gloss from the lips Lip gloss: A...
  18. One day while I was searching for a seemingly hopeless acne/acne scar cure, I came across a comment that talked about extra virgin olive oil massages. It said to massage entire face with oil for 20+ minutes, which would correct skin tone, eliminate acne, get rid of any acne scarring, and moisturize your face all at the same time. Wow, that sounded amazing, like a miracle. I bought some 'orgainic' spanish Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Trader Joes and immediately started massaging that night. Th
  19. i have been dealing with hyperpigmentation from acne for the last 5 months (hoping they would just fade naturally, i didn't want to make things worse or cause more acne) And although they are a lot better they seem to be incredibly stubborn, so after doing a lot of research i decided to try olive oil! long story short i used olive oil consistently for 4 days and have now broken out in about 4-5 spots - first time i have broken out in months... HOWEVER, now it could just be my imagination,
  20. Hello, a few days ago i received a gift. It was natural olive oil soap. So I wanted to try it out on my face but have no idea how to use it properly? Do I just wash my face with it and rinse it off with water afterwards or do I leave it on overnight? I read it has an excellent moisturizing effect, thats why im asking..because rinsing it off with water makes no sense for me. And yes i googled but it seems im the only one who doesnt know how to use it, couldn't find anything on that t
  21. Topical Olive Oil and Acne

People have used oils, including olive oil, on the skin for centuries because some oils can help to improve: Skin hydration - some oils can help keep moisture inside the skin General skin condition - oils can provide a protective barrier on the skin Oils are made up of molecules called fatty acids, which can have both beneficial properties as well as downsides. Each oil contains its own unique types and amounts of fatty acids, which provide the...
