  1. Hello everybody! This is a new blog I will be starting which will consist of my life with acne and how I got through high school, community college, college, and now grad. A little background information about me. I have had acne since my senior year of high school and throughout my college career. I have taken multiple acne prescriptions throughout my life. Here is a list of some of the prescriptions: Benzoyl Peroxide Tretinoin Doxycycline Hyclate Clindamycin Phosphate Epiduo Bactri
  2. Hey everyone! It's been about 3 years since my last post and I must say my face is looking way better! I get small breakouts here and there but I haven't had any full blown painful as hell clusters in ages! I mostly owe that too being very strict with my face cleaning habits and the products I use. Sadly I still haven't found the perfect face wash, toner and moisturizer system but I make do with the random ones I purchase. I use the Mia 2 now and it really helps get every bit of makeup off my
  3. I've seen lots of people say you should avoid shea butter if you have oily skin and I decided to try it out. I personally liked the feeling of it, but I still trust general consensus more. However I have been using topical retinol which has dried out my skin. I'm wondering whether that means I can use Shea Butter confidently now?
  4. You can only see them in certain lighting, but I am desperate for solutions. I've changed my diet , don't use scrubby exfoliations, have been om acne medications, seen a facialist, gone on birth control, nothing see,s to help it completely. I'm also allergic to benzoyl peroxide so that's out of equation. I really need help because I've been dealing with this since I can remember and nothing's changing.
  5. So I've suffered with really bad acne for a long time, it was bad to the point where you could barely see any clear skin. I went to a dermatologist and she put me on 30mg accutane everyday for almost 6 months, it did wonders and completely cleared my skin (I still have a lot of scarring and get the smallest zits every now and then, but I'm just grateful most of the acne went way). My dermatologist was surprised by how fast the medicine started working on me, the side effects started on my 8
  6. I have sensitive skin that is prone to drying easy but I get an oily t-zone and either products dry the skin or appear to cause more oil. Anyone recommend anything that would be useful for this type of skin? I'm pale with sensitive skin. Prone to dryness and breakouts. Possibly dehydrated skin
  7. I’m a 19 year old male and I need desperate help in regards to how my face looks... I’ve been trying to get it on track for the past year and have been unable to do so. Very frustrating and my self esteem has really taken a hit. The thing is, I look good from a distance. However, up close I feel/know I look horrible. Here’s my issue: It all happened about a year ago when I got a little bit of acne and starter vigorously using acne products on my face. My face stared to get worse and severely
  8. I'm 19 years old male and I've been suffering acne for the past 5 years. During this time I've used almost everything (bp, salicylic acid, zinc oxide you name it), now my skin looks really old, flaky and most of all oily on the top but looks dehydrated AF on the bottom. I've used bp for the past 2 years which helped with acne but it never solved the problem. Looking now I believe that it was bp that damaged my skin permanently. Now I'm going as natural as possible. My routine: AM - wash face w
  9. I've been noticing that my face is much less oily in the morning if I don't moisturize at night (CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion). I've started using Alina's hyaluronic acid serum in the morning and my face feels super smooth and hydrated. Should i continue moisturizing every night or can i just apply AHA+ several times a week and that's it?
  10. I took oratane back in OCT 7 2016 up until JULY 7 2017, so for 9 months at 40mg/day. Before that I tried everything OTC from drugstore to highend, and prescriptions ever since I was 13 such as clindatech, epiduo, duac gel and 4 rounds of antibiotic minomycin. I also went vegan for 2 years, to improve my skin, however that was useless. I’m 16 yrs old and female. BACKSTORY - (YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THIS) This was when i was 13/14/15 years old - Before going on oratane, I remember previously st
  11. Hello everybody. Before I start acne took over my life and those who have it really know what I'm talking about... It's difficult to post a picture so I'm going to ask you the severity of my face. It's all genetics for me as my dad had very problematic skin during his teenage years. I sometimes don't leave the house due to the redness.. which drugstore products would be really helpful for my type of skin..? - it gets really oily at the end of the day - kind of sensitive - a little bit te
  12. Hi guys, I've been on accutane for 54 days now I think at 30mg and my skin since the beginning has been very strange its not oily anymore like it was but its waxy in appearance and shiny and kind of slightly sticky, and moisturizer doesnt seem to be absorbing very well, the only thing that's helping is make up and not even that is taking the look away completely anyone have any help for me, please I'm desperate aha
  13. I'm 23 years old. My acne has come a very long way since my teenage years, but I feel like it has started to get bad again. Every time I think my breakouts are going away more appear. And every product I try, there's an issue. I was using Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Clean & Clear oil free acne control moisturizer, but that started to dry my face out, causing breakouts. I try to drink a decent amount of water daily and take women's daily vitamins as well. Someone please give me some adv
  14. Hi, I have a dilemma with my skin that I was hoping someone would be able to help me out with. I am Caribbean with darker brown skin with a red undertone that gets slightly lighter in the winter. I have always had combination skin that is oily in my t-zone areas and normal to dry on my cheeks. I am also acne prone on my cheeks and sometimes break out with tiny bumps on my forehead. This is why I have discoloration on my cheeks and on some of my forehead, but mostly my cheeks. At the
  15. I was on retin a for 4 months and all it did was smooth my skin. At first I got it for whiteheads. During my 4th week I purged then the whiteheads now became red marks. This crap doesn't fade red marks and I am very depressed bc now my face is worse than before. My acne was mild now its severe. I was aware of the intial breakout which occurred week 6 then cleared week 8. It is now week 18 and it's still the same but even worse. Skin is filled with more whiteheads and left over red marks just my

  17. Okay so my acne like zits wise isn't a huge issue, pretty minor. But my black an white heads and my open pores are INSANE. On my nose, I have hundreds and hundreds of clogged pores (black heads) and if they're not clogged they are WIDE open. It looks absolutely disgusting. Beside my nose, under my eyes and beside my cheeks are hundreds of open pores as well. It's very disgusting as well. My forehead has tons of white heads and pores that are clogged but they don't look like black heads. Like
  18. Hi everyone, just a question to help narrow down a product that is right for my skin. I have extremely sensitive dehydrated oily skin which is prone to small breakouts. Over the years I have been on benzoyl peroxide cream and the duac daily gel as well the antibiotics of which I have forgotten the name, tetraclyine I believe. Anyhow this was over 3 years ago now and my skin has dramatically improved. But These products have drastically dehydrated my skin also. I use aveeno products to was
  19. After using an AHA+BHA facewash, i notice my skin is getting shiner, it is a tiny bit oily but after i clean it, the shine is still there. It's not only on my t-zone but also on my cheeks. Is it possible that my facewash cause over-exfoliating?

  21. Hi guys, I'm almost on my 3rd month of the regimen and I've got great results. But I feel like I have to replace the moisturizer because I think it's clogging my pores. Can anyone suggest any one? I'm not sure about Cerave as it contains parabens. (I've got oily acne-prone skin)
  22. Hey everyone! I've finally reached that point where I can be *proud* of my complexion: acne-free and, not only that, but, GLOWING (*touches wood*)! So, I thought, hey, why not share what products I use and my skin-care regimen to a few people. Maybe it'll help you? I should start with how my skin looked previously and the severity of my acne. I had your usual teenage spots, 1-3 spots on my face at any time, both REALLY small and large (at one point, one spot was the size of a 5 pence coin!)
  23. I used to suffer from widespread acne but I cleared it thanks to Benzoyl Peroxide. However, ever since my acne cleared I have suffered from a combination of very oily skin and enlarged pores, many of which are deeply clogged and keep forming blackheads and/or whiteheads. I'm only 19 but I feel like my skin looks really old. I cleanse, tone and then moisturise every morning and evening (I will sometimes use benzoyl peroxide in areas where I have spots). In addition, to help breakouts and to att
  24. Hi, So I have very mild acne that doesn’t really bother me and I can control, however I have very oily skin that bothers me and I find tremendously annoying. My dermatologist put me on a low dose of Accutane (20mg a day) to combat this, however I’ve been reading online that the oiliness comes back after Accutane. Will my oiliness return to the same amount pre-Accutane after I finish my Accutane treatment? Thanks
  25. I joined acne.org entirely to ask this question as I can't seem to find an answer or anyone in the same situation. I started Accutane (Isotroin) just over 2 months ago now - 30mg for the first month and now 60mg (maximum dose). I got the expected dry lips, dry skin/scalp, redness and little bit of back pain. Now, for the past week and a half I have noticed my skin gradually becoming less dry and more oily. My lips are still dry but nowhere near as bad as they were and the redness seems to have
