I was just diagnosed with mild-moderate cystic acne, and I am trying to get pregnant. Because of this, my doctor is really reluctant (for good reason) to put me on medication/hormonal therapy for it. I was wondering what OTC or natural products you guys use to keep cystic acne under control. Any suggestions are gladly appreciated!!

Oatmeal - Is There An Easier Way?
LeStooge posted a topic in Over-the-counter acne medications and products
Hey everybody I recently found out that oatmeal significantly clears up my skin. However, anybody else who has used oatmeal before will know that it is very messy. It clogs the sink, sometimes a piece of it gets left in my hair and later on somebody embarrassingly points it out It is also quite impractical for everyday use as sometimes i just cant be bothered to use it at 7am before school when im half awake. I need an alternative to oatmeal, anything natural really as i have SENSITIVE SK- 2 replies

Hi guys, need your advice. I've suffering with cystic acne for around 3 years. Checked my hormones - everything is normal, slightly high FSH. Otherwise it's all fine. But I still breakout in the middle of my cycle on my cheeks like crazy. I have a huge red mark on my right cheek now and I simply want to cry. I have done everything: natural approach, tcm, diet. Name it. I can't find the cause. I am also very slim because of dieting. Red somewhere that not enough fat in a body can cause hormon

I'm thinking of beginning the over-the counter version of the regimen, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard of the Keys Island Rx Foaming cleanser. I've been using it and I really like it, but I'm not sure how it will interact with the benzoperoxide part of the regimen. I've been taking Vitex and I think that's been making a significant difference (as well as Krill oil and Juice Plus). http://www.natureofbeauty.com/keys-islandrx.html Any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciat

This is probably my first and last post on the forum. I have had acne since grade 8 primarily on the forehead, in grade 9 it started to worsen until grade 10 when I decide I wanted to get rid of it. By this time I had all different types of acne (except for deep scarring, luckily for me my skin did not do this). I began to experiment with Clean and Clear products, Proactiv products and other easily accessible products I found that none of these seemed to work. (my acne is mainly found on my

I have black heads on my nose and chin and I hate them. They make my pores look large and of corse I want to have beautiful skin like everyone else. So I was wondering what other people used to get rid of them. Right now I am doing a mostly natural and chemical free routine with my face and it is actually working well for all but my blackheads. I was hoping someone would be able to suggest a more natural product for these blemishes. Thanks for your help

The rest of my face is pretty clear except for my left cheek which has dark scar spots from the acne. (Btw does anyone know if this is a specific type of scarring? Hyperpigmentation??) Any natural methods for tackling this..? (I heard olive oil at night is good... Also apple cider vinegar? Raw Aloe Vera leaf?) For my bacne I've started using Nautrogena Body clear body wash... What can I use with it? Is iodized sea salt water okay to use? I don't have non-iodized.. :c also benzoyl peroxide on

I'm 32, male and have suffered acne off and on since I was 13. Although it seemed severe to me at the time, it would fluctuate from mild to moderate acne. I bought into the whole modern materialist trend of buying products to fix my problems (not just acne)! When I was younger I would buy face washes, scrubs, cleansers, and a whole array of other chemicals. These were all ineffective. I graduated to topical retinoids which had some interesting effects on my skin but caused far to much ir

Hello, friends! I hope you have some wonderful plans for NYE. So ... I have a few questions about diet, as it relates to hormones - and a few other things. If you could take the time to lend me your expertise, I'd be eternally grateful! As I decipher my body's wisdom about what works and doesn't work for it, I've been thinking a lot about times in the past when I was clear, of course. All through college, I was on BC (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo), and used Differin. I don't think I neede

In Search For The Perfect Moisturizer
jsnjeppe posted a topic in Over-the-counter acne medications and products
Hi I am in search for the perfect moisturizer as I have dry skin and seem to be unable to find a moisturizer that fits me. Basically I am looking for a moisturizer that meets these requirements. 1. All natural ingredients or as close to as possible. 2. Does not leave your face shiny or greasy. 3. Calms your skin and reduces redness. 4. Long lasting throughout the day. So far I have only tried 2 moisturizers which is cetaphil and pure organic jojoba oil, I dont like cetaphil as it is- 1 reply

Hello! I'm an 18 year old girl and I am struggling with constant pimples. I don't have proper acne, but I have regular breakouts. They are stronger one week before my period, but they never seem to go away. The pimples are not that big and they go away after a couple of days, but I always have them and nothing I do seems to work. I've tried EVERYTHING. I've tried every product ever and nothing worked. Now I'm going the natural way and my skin is better, but still not clear. I don't eat dairy or

I'll try to keep this short. I'm 28, have been PLAGUED by acne since I was 12. Finally hopped on the holistic train after years of everything else (including accutane). Magically found this small, Canadian company called living libations who make their own essential oils. Tried most everything in their line and it was just OK. The absolute best thing ever in the whole world is the rose and frankincense firming fluid. I have never seen results this incredible! My hyperpigmentation is easy to see

Hi guys! I'm new here and this is my first post so go easy on me! So basically I'm 16 and have had moderate acne for nearly two years now. I have been to the doctor and they prescribed differin and duac once daily which didn't really help a whole lot especially as I have oily skin and when I apply these overnight they can't dry my skin because of how oily it gets. Having said that they still keep the acne at bay reasonably well. (I also used a Nivea charcoal face wash morning and night). My oi

I have a hormonal scars that are slighlty indented and i have been using Braggs undiluted organic APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. It seems to be making a difference! I have uploaded a photo. The one that has a circle is the indented one. If it works itd be a great cheap alternative! I just rub some on the scars with a q-tip at night. Sometimes multiple times a night. When u apply it the area will become red, but itll be gone by the morning

There Is A Remedy For Hidradenitis
garyIII posted a topic in Over-the-counter acne medications and products
There is a remedy for Hidradenitis Suppurativa. First the facts, this info is found in some hidradenitis forums & I found it in Celiac and Gluten Free forums – Hidradenitis is caused by antibodies to gluten. Somewhere I read that the tiny tubing that leads from the apocrine sweat glands get clogged. I think the gluten antibodies and bits of gluten we eat combine together and clogs these tubing and that starts the problem because the glands continue to produ -
Hi! So I've been using the Regimen for 3 months now and I'm seeing great improvement. I started off buying all three products from Acne. Org that is, the moisturizer, cleanser and BP along with the AHA+. I was using all three until about 2 weeks ago when I ran out of cleanser. I started using this all-natural, dye-free, paraben-free cleanser that I actually got from Walmart and it works so much better than the Acne.Org Cleanser and it's foaming so I don't have to rub my hands together, it al

My Konjac sponges arrived today. I ordered a Tumeric and a Charcoal infused one, though I know the active ingredients won't remain in them. They are made from 100% plant fiber- if you ate one, you'd get iron, copper, phosphorous, zinc, folic acid, vitamins A-C and more (not recommended, but you could..) Mine arrived moist. Watching instructional videos, most come hard and you have to soak it. It very rubbery, gentler than a washcloth, and makes gentle cleansers more effective. It

Always checking up on this forum as I've been suffering with acne/blemishes on and off since I was around 15 (am now 23!), but this is my first post.. Just interested to know what experiences you guys have had with certain oils? For instance, I'm pretty sure it was from this website that I first started looking at using oils as a cleanser/moisturiser a few years ago, and I started off using Jojoba after the glowing reviews it had. For the first few days my skin and hair felt absolutely unbelie

My current obsession right now: As ridiculous as this may sound, it's been working for me and showed results almost immediately (2~3 days). ***I've been using filtered, drinking water to wash my face for the past few days, and currently I have zero breakouts...whereas usually I would definitely have a couple of explosions or mild cysts here and there. *** The reason why I started doing this was because I noticed that after moving downtown (for college), I've been experiencing a lot mor

So I'm dong OK I suppose. I fucking picked again. It's been harder to stop than I imagined it would be. I like to think I have good self- control. I became a vegetarian when I was 13, I pulled myself out of my alcoholism that I've had since I was 14, I overcame my OCD on my own when I was 10(officially diagnosed later on), but I can't stop picking. It's very frustrating. I'm starting to think my picking is actually a manifestation of my OCD, because it is quite obsessive and senseless in nature.

Can Natural Products Clear Your Skin? Ft. Tea Tree Oil, Honey & Vitamin A + E
cforbes23 posted a blog entry in Clear skin for life!
Hello Everyone! If anyone has been reading my blog thus far, you will know I have been on the regime (drugstore version) for about a month. I can honestly say that benzoyl peroxide is a very effective acne/blemish treatment - at a cost. The dryness, roughness and overall uneven skin texture is a trade off for fewer pimples and potentially clear skin. I found that my skin was so rough and uneven that it just didn't look great, even though I had fewer pimples and blemishes. Doing some research- 2 comments

Yesterday I started my new skin care plan. In the morning I put raw honey on my face and let it sit for like three minutes. I then take a hot wash cloth and lay it on my face then wash the honey off. I found that this leaves my face feeling great. It feels soft and not oily at all which is surprising for me because I have really oily skin. After all the honey is off my skin, I pat my face dry and apply my apple cider vinegar toner. At night I did the oil cleansing method with grapeseed o
