  1. Hi all, I'm having the worst breakout of my entire life and I'm on my second month of Accutane. Ive never had cystic acne in my life and I'm starting to get it. It's so bad that its painful to smile or move any part of my face really. I don't see my dermatologist for another week or so. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle a breakout during Accutane? I've just been making sure to wash all my makeup off, gently cleanse and use a lot of Cetaphil lotion on my face. Do I just have to wait
  2. Hi everybody, I'm here today writing because recently I couldn't afford Accutane. I found out that my insurance will no longer help pay for my Accutane medications. I'm currently 4 months into my Accutane treatment and it has been going great. I've been looking around my local pharmacies and comparing prices and I can't afford it. I've tried Goodrx and other coupon methods and I still couldn't afford it. The prices I've gotten without the coupons were almost $800 - $1,800 at Walgreens and with

    My Accutane Journey

Hi there! I've spent these past few weeks reading every accutane blog I could get my hands on in preparation for starting the treatment myself, so it only seems fitting to start my own blog now, both in hopes that it might help someone else, and in an effort to track my own progress and reactions to the drug. A little bit about me... Gender: Female Age: 18 Weight: 130lbs Height: 5'6" Dosage: 60mg (30mg twice a day) Generic brand: Myorisan Acne type: moderate, persistent, dry
  4. I've been on accutane for about 6 days now, and since last friday I've had this bad headache. It's certainly not the worst headache of my life but it's just persistent. I've fallen asleep with the headache and woken up the next morning with it. Plus ibuprofen hasn't helped much if at all. Has anyone else had this? does it go away???
  5. How's it going everybody? I'm choosing not to share any personal information, but I am a 21 year old male college student starting what I think will be a five month course of prescription accutane, specifically Myorisan. For a little bit of background: Throughout high school I had very, very light acne. We're talking one or two pimples every now and again. I did absolutely nothing to my face and never even thought about it. Towards the end of my senior year and starting with my freshman

    Week 2: Day 9

I don’t think these pictures show much progress so far. I’m taking 30 mg a day of the Myorisan and I haven’t run into super dry lips yet. My throat has been dry, though. No problems with my nose or too much trouble with my eyes being dry. I've also started using PanOxyl 10 percent foaming benzoyl peroxide wash and hopefully this will help clear me up. But, as you can see, it looks like I’ve got a long way to go on this journey.
  7. Hello! This is my first ever blog! Im excited to share with you my journey of my second round of accutane. This post will be long because I will share with you my first experience, so be patient My acne journey started way back in middle school, year 2007. I remember my face was always the oiliest in the classroom and a constant supply of face powder was always needed to "fit in". I was accustomed to going to the dermatologist for my eczema, so we finally started treating my acne when Proact
  8. Hey guys, so I'll have been on accutane for 100 days soon. I had moderate acne before starting (about 2 to 4 cystic zits at a time on my face, and more on my back). My acne cleared up completely within a month of starting, and I haven't had a pimple since. However, my triglycerides have gone up tremendously since starting, at about 339 now, and I'm scared my doctor is going to take me off immediately. (My derm office won't return my calls so I'm still waiting to hear from him.) Is there a possib

    Going On Accutane!

Hey guys! I have just started taking Accutane to control my body acne that I've had long term. Check out my blog *Moderator edit, URL removed - read the board rules* and follow me for real updates and progress on this medicine. I can answer any questions you may have if you are considering going on Accutane and you can watch how my skin reacts to the medicine. For me, my acne is hereditary and the dermatologist told me that no matter what I tried to do, without taking this aggressive approach, m
  10. Hey guys, my name is Cody and I've recently visited my dermatologist about starting an accutane regimen. I first started to develop acne when I was about 14 years old, although not severe, I have always been self conscious about the way my appearance presents to other people. Growing up, I was involved with sports and continued throughout high school. During football season is when my acne would flare up at its worst. I've really only dealt with acne on my face and more specifically around the m
  11. Okay so I'm going into my 5th month on Accutane and this is how my face looks...I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue and I'm sorry for the gross pictures I know I probably disgusted all of you. Also, sorry for the oily look, I have Vaseline on so that's why. I talked to my dermatologist a couple days ago and even he was shocked and gave me some sort of shot on my bottom I don't remember what it's called and I'm also taking Bactrim with Accutane. I only wash my face once a day
  12. I am about to start my accutane course (myorisan, 40mg 2x a day) as I have dealt with moderate acne on and off for the past 4 years. I mainly am taking it to cure myself of cysts, as I seem to always get minor ones, but also 1 bad one every couple months. I just had a few questions... Milk used to cause a few bumps for me, as it does for a lot of acne prone people, so I was wondering if accutane shrinks the oil glands permanently, will dairy products still cause acne, or acne cysts, or

    Acne Story

As a teenager I experienced a small pimple here and there, never anything cystic and never anything I would describe as acne. It wasn't until I turned 23 that my skin began having issues. I returned home from a family vacation with a pretty bad breakout. I tried over the counter products for a couple of months before I decided the breakout wasn't going away. I made an appointment with a dermatologist who took one look at my face (not a very close look) and told me that I had adult acne. Because
  14. Day 63-97: Wow! 3 months on Accutane already!! I will say that month 3 was the worst for me. Not because of the dryness but because I got several breakouts/cystic acne that just lingered the whole month. They didn't go away until I got another bump in meds with my visit last week to the Derm. Got bumped to 80 mg per day every day & BAM! back to being super intensely dry again. BUT the cluster of cystic acne i got my cheek are now fading away. It was a cluster of 7-8 big ugly ones that agai
  16. Finally going on Accutane (Myorisan) after years of hoping my acne would get better on its own! I am 36 years old female who seriously thought my acne would just get better as time went on, boy was I wrong! I had acne in junior high/high school but nothing severe, i would get a pimple here or there and it was usually my fault; not washing my face, touching my face with dirty hands, etc. etc. But when I got put on birth control shot Depo when i was in my late teens/early 20's that's when th

    Week 5: Day 30

Okay, guys, here’s my week 5 update: Symptoms – Just more dry lips. The corners of my lips have started to really dry out and that has been pretty annoying. I have had a lot of lower back pain, but I’m not sure if that’s related to the Accutane or not. I go to my dermatologist tomorrow, so I’ll talk to him about that. I cannot believe that I’ve already finished my first month! I got my second round of blood work done yesterday. My experience at the lab was fine for the most part except

    intro + beginning week 4 :)

let me just say, i TOTALLY regret not creating this blog earlier. anyways, i also have an accutane progress account on instagram by the same name, which i have posted updates on even before i began accutane. anyways, hello! i'm a 16 year old american girl struggling with moderate acne which sometimes flares up and becomes cystic. i first got acne when i was 12, but it was nothing that a little bit of atralin couldn't handle. before my freshman year of high school, my acne worsened a bit,
  20. I'm also keeping this log on RealSelf.com I'm will start counting as of two weeks (full 14 days) into my treatment since that's when the side effects/improvements starting to kick in. Day 15: Skin was peeling quite vigorously. Woke up and it was peeling all around my mouth. Cysts I had prior to treatment have shrunk. Some new ones (cysts or not, big acne) did appear and most is on the right side of my cheek. My left side is clearing. Forehead is drying too. Chin is the mostly clear. My
  21. Hi everyone, I have never posted on here before but have spent a lot of time reading about different acne treatments etc... Its been a frustrating 2 years and I am ready to get on with my life without acne! I am a 21 year old male who has mild/sometimes moderate acne that is extremely persistent. I am prone to hyper pigmentation and clogged pores and crazy oily/red skin. I have tried everything and are now starting Myorisan a.k.a accutane. I have done a lot of research on the drug and are a
  22. HI everyone. I've been on Myorisan for about 1 month and 2.5 weeks. My acne has started to get worse. Is this normal? Does this mean it's not going to work for me? I'm new to this and I don't know anyone who has been in isotretinoin before. I'm starting to get depressed and hopeless because I've literally tried everything else.I haven't always eaten a meal/something fatty before taking the meds so I'm wondering if that's making the medication significantly less effective? This is the last hope f
  23. for 30 days I was on 30 mg of Myorisan (isotretinoin generic) yeah my face was rekt after that lotsssss of red spots clustered together, but some of the worst breakouts went down so I can cover a good amount of my crappy skin with makeup for the past 6 days I’ve been on 40 mg which broke me out a little but I’m also approaching my cycle so I can’t tell what’s cuz of what...I noticed the tons of blackheads I had during the first month went away and my nose is like completely smooth; however

    4th Month ~ Accutane

Day 98-106: I feel so much better! Still dry but my face is clearing up! I havent had a new pimple come in, the ones i had from the previous month are fading away. The cluster of 7-8 on my left cheek are almost all flat! 1 of them just started oozing one evening, just watching TV & i felt it! UGH! Of course all kinds of stuff came out...forever.... i really hope i dont have to deal with that ever again! I still have the one on my nose but its not really a pimple or a blackhead...not sure wha

4th Month Done - Queue Derm Visit

Finshed my 4th month of Accutane! Time really has flown - I remember reading that & hearing that on YouTube videos and thinking "Yeah, right! Your in throes of Accutane desert dryness!" but it really has flown by! Day 107-118: I have a few spots that aren't completely flat but no big ones! That time of the month came & went with only 2 new pimples coming in & they were just little - came & went within a couple of days. To not break out dramatically at my time of month is complet
