  1. If you have acne on either side of your chin or lower mouth then please read this - It may not be hormonal acne after all! For the past couple of years, I have struggled with (what I thought was) horrible hormonal acne below my mouth, on either side of my chin. It would sometimes go through phases of being more/less fierce, but was usually very prominent. The 'acne' consisted of several lumps/pustules, some of which were pussy and some of which weren't, but it was frequently itchy and painfu
  2. Hey guys, So on Wednesday, what seemed like a matter of 4-6 hours, my chin broke out with a cluster of whiteheads. I wouldn't even really judge it as my normal acne that I used to have a few years back. There weren't any red lumps really around my whiteheads, like I said they are more of just a cluster of tiny whiteheads gathered around my chin. The day before I went to the dentists for a deep cleaning and fillings (I haven't been to the dentist in like 10 years..gross..) and they used
  3. So I've been using Retin A for maybe two months, it's at 0.01% concentration so the lowest you can get. When I first used it I experienced severe burning with my Duac Once Daily and this faded after a week so I started using Retin A again but not the Duac. Now I'm left with a slightly noticeable white ring around my mouth and it's really annoying because it's prominent in pictures. Just as I was becoming confident with my clearer skin What can I do about this if anything? I don't think I need
  4. hey everyone, first up, i'm not a native speaker, so there might be some mistakes in my post, please excuse that... i'm turning 25 this month (i'm a girl) and i definitely know that my acne is caused/ promoted by stress/ nervousness. when i get pimples they occur exclusively around my mouth, mostly on my chin. it is not totally bad, always depending on my stresslevel, but it's bothering me a lot and i've been trying to find a solution for so many years. last month i also had my hormones teste
  5. Hello everyone, I came for a question I would like an answer to. I've been having acne since I was 16 now and tried pretty much everything. I'm on the regimen now. Although it never really cleares up. When I was younger it was mainly on my forehead, but since my 18th (i'm a 21 year old male now), it's mostly around my mouth and sometimes on my neck, but almost never on my cheeks. I've heard acne around the mouth is caused by an hormonal imbalance. It's really depressing that ever
  6. Could anyone please help with identifying what could be the root problem for my acne? I'm male, 27 years old, acne since puberty. Around nose, mouth and on scalp. I have something opposite of cystic acne, pimples mostly show up on outer layer of skin. Of all the tests I'v taken and doctors visited, only IgG4 food sensitivity panel show up that there's something wrong with me. High sensitivity to grains and gluten, dairy, few fruits and veggies. But as weird as it sounds, most of the time it
  7. My sides of my lips are an actual state right now. i'm coming towards my 5th month on Roaccutane (Been now 60mg during this month do 40mg for the rest) and I've had these cracked lips for over a month now so they started whilst I was on 40mg. it literally doesn't make any difference how much i drink, how much lip balm I put on etc they look like this all the time! The sides of the lips usually peel everyday as if they're shedding skin or something haha! They are even hard to cover with mak
  8. Hi! I'm almost 14 and I've had issues with acne for a year as of december. I had perfect, flawless skin and then out of nowhere I got about 10 pimples on each cheek that varied on size and came and went for about 4 months and then I FINNALY got my skin back up to par and it was perfect again... that lasted for a month because I got spoilt, lazy and thought I didn't have to work on it anymore. A few tiny tiny tiny little bumps showed up on my right cheek I didn't care I thought it would go away
  9. I have dealt with mild acne for most of my life. It started with the usual high school acne which was completely hormonal. For about two years it was pretty bad (my parents both had acne in high school and said they have pretty bad skin in their teens). But it finally started to clear when I was going to college. I got to college and my skin was great! The occasional breakout here and there but I kept my skin really clean and I thought everything was past me. Nope. It started around Oct
  10. Hey guys, I have acne on my face and chest. Chest has been clearing up a lot more recently due to lemon juice. The acne on my face is mainly just below my mouth on the right and left side (in these two regions that have always been a problem), other pimples on chin, jaw region. Skin pretty much completely clear on rest of face (even if a breakout, very small, little redness, gone quickly). I've dealt with this acne for 1-2 years. I recently just started using apple cider vinegar on my f
  11. Ah, back again! If you've followed to any of my recent posts, you know I'm a frustrated Acne.org long timer. Long story short I started the regimen in December 2013 and was 110% baby butt clear about 5 months later. I then lived happily ever after with no acne! I wish... I stayed clear for the better part of 3-4 months. And I mean REALLY clear. No noticeable signs of acne at all. It was so good I could posted a photo of myself during my clear period and I had friends texting me say "Holy cr
  12. From the album: Week Four & Three Days

WEEK FOUR & THREE DAYS I received The Regimen Trial in the mail, so I used the last of my Proactiv and switched to the Regimen on this day. I hadn't suffered from any whiteheads in over a week, but as soon as I started The Regimen, I noticed a few new whiteheads around my mouth, on my chin and jaw line. I noticed new breakouts, which was upsetting because I had only been getting new breakouts every 2 to 3 days, as opposed to everyday. However, older breakouts were reducing in size, and
  13. From the album: Week One / Day 4

WEEK ONE / DAY 4 (I was using Proactiv until it ran out and then I switched to the Regimen because Proactiv was too harsh on my skin.)**I am NOT wearing skin makeup besides mascara** I noticed that the redness had subsided, however, my skin was still "darkening" and "hardening". Acne was "smoothing" out, but new breakouts were still occurring. Dryness and flakiness still occurred. Acne marks were healing and being dried out. Still a lot of hyper pigmentation.
  14. I have been dealing with mild/moderate acne on my mouth/chin area, since I turned 19, and now it's almost 4 years later and I still haven't gotten any closer to freedom. I've spent so many hours online trying to find the right treatment and a fortune on supplements and skin care products, but not a single one proved to be affected. I have heard people claim it's hormonal, but 99% of the articles out there about hormonal acne isn't really applicable to the male gender, since it's all about period
  15. Let me start off by saying acne is a b****, and I respect and understand ALL of you on this site, and have frequently come on here to learn about my acne. However this is my first post on this site, so I hope I can relay my information the best I can. Few things about me: 22 years old Male 5'10 160 lbs (athletic build/low body fat) Workout 5 times a week (weightlifting) Ill start with a brief overview of my acne. I never had too much of an acne problem in high school. I would get
  16. Hi, I have 20 or so closed comedone in the corners of my mouth I've had most of them for a while now, and they seem to stay on my face until the become inflamed full sized pustules I'm also very fair skinned so the result is a mass of current pustules slight scarring and hyper pigmentation around my mouth which honestly looks awful. I've done research and from what I can tell whiteheads aren't supposed to become pustules. My question is does anyone know why my whiteheads might be becoming pustul
  17. I eat extremely healthy. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and fish and meat. I don't eat gluten (which has helped a lot to be fair) or wheat. I eat barely any sugar aside from naturally occurring ones in fruit and I avoid dairy as much as I can. All I drink is herbal tea (green, white, nettle, rooibos, fennel etc.) and water. I exercise regularly (cycle, run etc.). I do yoga, meditate - the list just goes on. Basically, I live a very healthy lifestyle. Despite all of this, I'm still plagu
  18. Hi guys. Was just wondering if anyone knows if this stuff is 100% true? The whole face mapping thing. http://thebeautygypsy.com/what-is-your-acne-telling-you/ If you scroll down you'll see a picture. I'm 17 and have constant acne on the sides of my mouth and chin. So zone's 11, 12 and 13. According to this, it is hormones and stomach issues. If this is true it puts me somewhat at ease as I should imagine it has something to do with my age and hopefully won't have to live with it
  19. I made an account just to post about this issue because I know there is someone out there suffering with the same issue I had and IT IS FIXABLE. I am a 24 y/o female with dry/combination skin. My whole life, I never really had issues with breakouts, even as a teen. My only skin concern was dryness/redness. Like a normal person, I would sometimes experience breakouts (maybe one every 2 months and they were on the surface of my skin), and they would last about 2-3 days before disappearing compl
  20. I think I finally found a way to reduce my very stubborn hormonal acne. I am 30 and have been struggling with hormonal acne for as long as I can remember. I usually get them around my mouth and chin, and I get very oily skin in that area. I usually start breaking out at around 2 weeks before my period. Sometimes they get as high as my cheeks and some really hurt (Even recently I started getting cystic acne along my jawline). Unfortunately I have a very bad habit of picking at them especially whe
  21. I've spent the last week or so researching causes, cures and comedones. I have self-diagnosed myself with closed comedones around my mouth, chin, and jawline. It seems as though the best way to get rid of these things is exfoliation. So exfoliate I will. Before I did my research, I was simply cleansing with a 2% salycilic acid and moisturizing with an oil-free moisturizer, both from Clearproof. My goal is to experiment with BHA, AHA and other methods of exfoliating if I need to to get rid of the
  22. I have had acne around my mouth for about 12 months now. It keeps getting worse and does not go away. I am 15 years old. I just visited my dermatologist and he prescribed oral acne medication. So far it hasn't worked (4 days in). Every day I wash my face in the morning and night. I wash with Neutrogena Naturals Acne Foaming Scrub, and PanOxyl 10% wash. After the shower, I apply Aczone, but I've been running out so I sometimes apply Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Facial Treatment Moisturizing Lot
  23. My acne is really starting to get me down and I have a big job interview soon! What is it because it's around my mouth and on one cheek only, I've never seen anything like it. It was worse until I started using benzoyl peroxide 10% - I'm 18 btw Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  24. Hello everyone! I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get rid of the acne around my mouth and chin. I had hormonal acne since I can remember but my face would clear once I would be done with my menstrual cycle. This breakout has been going on for 2 1/2 months. I been searching up so many reasons why this is happening and why it isn't getting better but worse. I went on birth control just 4 days ago because I believe it was from hormones. I'm planning on going to see a dermatologist this week, s
  25. Im 21 and iv been on birth control for the last year or so, iv been off it for a week now ( because I ran out, and id rather not be on it ) and my skins already starting to break out more. Im afraid my skins going to go nuts if I go off bc. I dont know what to do. I had perfect, never break out skin untill 18 or 19 and it started breaking out, then at 20 it was really bad but only around my mouth and chin. After bc its been alot better but still not the way it was, I still breakout the week befo
