  1. I've been noticing that my face is much less oily in the morning if I don't moisturize at night (CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion). I've started using Alina's hyaluronic acid serum in the morning and my face feels super smooth and hydrated. Should i continue moisturizing every night or can i just apply AHA+ several times a week and that's it?
  2. Hello all, I am currently finishing up my 3rd month of Accutane and I was wondering what is the verdict on moisturizing while on accutane. I currently only moisturize my hands and arms because they dry out so hard and crack. However, for my face, I do not feel oily at all, there are only skin flakes between my nose and lips that come off really easily. Should I start moisturizing my face as well? Cheers
  3. One side of my cheek it has acne, not to severe just red marks, one or two whiteheads, they go down from my cheek to my chin and some pimple scars; the other side of my cheek is red, barely any acne, which happened 2-3 weeks ago. So i stopped using a cleanser as i realized it was making my skin worse and started applying honey to my face, which it did help. After i wash the honey off my face it then starts to become kinda itchy at a random spot on my face, a lot of times in the side of my head n
  4. Just turned 41 and have been battling acne all adulthood and have not tried everything...but certainly lots of things. One thing I never did was use a moisturizer. I figured my face was too oily and actually had 2 dermatologists tell me not to bother with it. After a very uncessful attempt at Tazorac (going 14 weeks) I went to an esthetician for a facial and advice. She got me to buy some fancy skin care line (Eminence) and explained how important moisturizing is. Without the proper moisture
  5. Hi, i'm 14 and I've struggled with body acne for around 2 years. I feel like it's ruining my life. I can't wear any of the clothes I'd like to wear, especially dresses and tank tops, and I can't go swimming. I wash my skin in the morning and take a shower at night because I have hockey every day in the afternoon. I use the bp and then moisturize. It's working a little I guess but I want to be able to finally be confident and wear a dress to this dance coming up. Can i have some help? Does anyone
  6. Dry Skin: Causes and Treatments

Dry skin, also called xerosis, is characterized by scaling, flaking, and itching of the skin. It can range from mild and temporary to severe and chronic. The outermost layer of the skin provides a property called the barrier function. When the barrier function is healthy, it keeps water inside the skin and keeps harmful substances out. However, if the barrier function is weakened or damaged, water inside the skin evaporates and the skin can become dry and...

  9. Hello everyone I have to admit I've never really suffered from bad acne. The reason for posting in this forum is that acne sufferes seem to have the most experience with the caveman regimen. So here goes: Does the buildup of dead skin diminish over time? How long does it take before that happens? I read on other threads that this buildup seems to be the most pronounced in the areas that have been exposed to harsher treatment, which is why I'm hoping that it can normalize somehow.
  10. Blah, I feel gross today...I got a new yucky papule on my right cheek, RIGHT ON THE APPLE of it which is SO noticable. I didn't pick which is good but whatever. I did a lactic peel to help fade my red marks about three days ago and so far so good The marks are getting lighter but I still hate looking in the mirror without concealer. I feel like a freaking leopard. Well. Anyways, I started using Dan's Regime but with using products that are OTC for now. So far it seems to be okay, minus th
  11. Hey guys, Hope you don't mind me posting this, I'm new to the site but i think its really good!! i had my first derm appointment on saturday at the hospital and my consultant said that accutane would be the best course of treatment for me (ive been on tetras and various other things since i was around 9 years old so this was my last chance of something that might work so i thought id go for it). I had my bloods on monday and took my first accutane on tuesday lunch! im pretty excited but peop
  12. My derm started me on Retin-A Micro. I've been on it for six days, and it's basically already worked miracles on my skin. Derm told me that if I can stand it I can use it morning and night, which is what I've been doing (though I'm allergic to certain chemicals like BP and SLS and anything wheat, my skin tends to be pretty much as tough as elephant hide). I've skipped maybe one or two mornings but other than that been really consistent. I wash with Hibiclens that has a few drops of extra glyce
  13. Hi guys! I'm trying to solve one big acne mystery. I've been suffering from acne almost 10 years now (I am 23 years old now) and I have tried many things but nothing has helped. Over those years I have eliminated foods that are breaking me out like dairy, sugar(chocolate, sodas, sweets etc.), fried foods, potato chips, nuts, citrus fruit and processed meat (ham, salami...). These are foods that definitely worsen my skin condition. I have even tried for some time vegeterian diet as well as glut
  14. Hi everyone, I've been on this website for a little while but I haven't posted in over a year. I was updating a post with my acne journey until September, 2017, but just lost track of time. My skin has cleared up so incredibly much. I had normal acne on combination skin and now I have very few typical breakouts. I do have some occasional cystic acne now that I'm working on a routine for, but this post is about general acne. My original post focused on the prescription products my dermatolo
  15. I don't have much acne except for on my forehead. Or some reason it's red, can be dry or oily, has a lot of little tiny bumps, wrinkles easily. I want to even out my complexion and smooth out my forehead, can this be some with vitamin e oil capsules? I plan to cleanse my face with just straight oatmeal, then rinse it off and apply a big of vit e oil and let that sit overnight. Does this sound like it'd work? If not what would? I also have sensitive skin
  16. Hello all! I'm going on my two months with the regimen. I'm still getting some breakouts, but things seem to be clearing more in my "problem areas" and breakouts appear to be getting more isolated.. so I'm trying to stick to it! One thing that I've been finding more difficult to deal with is the flakes and irritation that comes along with flaking, like itchiness, UGH!.. this had to be the most annoying side effect of the regimen so far. I'm currently using CeraVe moisturizer, and I have t
  17. so I just received tretinoin (0.025) yesterday and I was instructed to apply a pea size amount every night. my very simple question is, do I moisturize before applying it or after? do I even need to moisturize?
  18. Is Getting a Facial Good for Acne?

A facial is a skin care treatment performed by a trained esthetician or cosmetician in a beauty salon or spa. Most facials claim to leave the skin looking younger and more radiant, but some facials are specifically advertised to help clear the skin for people prone to acne.1 However, the fact is that facials are problematic for most people with acne because many of the procedures physically irritate the skin. Physical irritation is well-known to make...
