  1. Hi, I've been on minocycline 50mg a day for well over 2 years now and my skin has cleared up for the most part. I do get accasional white head pimples but my acne is not as bad as it used to be prior to minocycline. My derm prescribes me more when I run out and he never tells me to stop using or stop prescribing me. has anyone else been on minocycline for as long as me taking one daily? Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
  2. So, this post is in regards to my new acne regimen that my derm prescribed me to. While at the derm's office I felt pretty confident with what he was prescribing me, but now after reading some online reviews and the warning pamphlets that came with the drugs I'm rather scared. This is the regimen prescribed to me: A.M Take 2 capsules of Minocycline Wash face with mild soap Use Clindamycin pledget with an exfoliating lotion P.M Wash face with mild soap Apply Pea-sized amount of Retin-A Mi
  3. Has anyone found that supplimenting antibiotics with probiotics could help the acne stay away after stopping the use of antibiotics? Just curious if there is ANYONE out there who recieved long term and or perminant clear skin from using antibiotics for their acne and maybe some advice on how to break the cycle of acne returning shortly after antibiotics are done. Im taking minocycline now and I refuse to be on it for more than a month, unless my derm can seriously convince me otherwise, I do n
  4. Hey everybody, I've been on Clindamycin Phosphate 1%, Minocycline 80mg 1x Day, and BP Fash Wash 5% for a week now (all in the morning). So far, the only things I've noticed is that my face is much more red, and I've had an initial breakout. My chin and jawline just has multiple whiteheads compared to the 1 or two it had prior to the medication, and my forehead is still with small, bumpy pink acne spots. Is it common to experience an initial breakout with these products? PS: I take V

    My Acne Story/journey/results

Ok, so. I have been dealing with acne ever since I was in the 8th grade. I am now a senior in high school. During my sophomore year i had a terrible reaction to a facial system I had bought at Sephora, and thats where the serious acne began. It was during that year I was prescribed all the serious medications to cure me. I was on doxycycline, and Retin a micro .04%. Doxycycline was AWFUL for me, it made me very ill and I would often throw up in the middle of school. Needless to say, my mother s
  6. Hey guys, I’m currently on Differin 0.3% and Minocycline 100mg twice daily. I’ve been on the Differin for 3 months and the mino for less than 2 weeks. The Differin was doing absolutely nothing but ruining my skin, and the mino has helped me out a lot. BUT, I’m still getting new pimples every day, and I’m not too fond of the Minocycline. I’m looking for people who have transitioned straight from retinoids and/or Minocycline into Accutane and if you had an initial breakout? My face is FILLED w
  7. Do you share some of the same skin problems as me? So im on minocyclie right now.Started it a week and a half ago and my acne has decreased very much. I only have two active pimples and the rest are either bumps or marks. I wash my face with sea salt morning and night which does make the skin soft and works as a spot treatment. And i moisturize with neutrogena moisturizer. But the skin on my acne prone areas is red, as if it is irritated or sweating. All other areas of my face are clean and fres
  8. Hi guys. I am going to share my experience with you guys, because i need some help to treath my acne. Well, i have had Face Acne since I was 13. Now im 17. Last summer (here in Argentina, February) i decided to attend to a specialist appointment (dermatologyst). This doctor gave me inmediatly a tratment with MINOCYCLINE 100mg and a gel. This works very well in one month with my type of several face's acne, and when i stopped having Mino, my acne was out! Amazing...? Well, now, around 4 or
  9. Hi guys! Literally just signed up but thought I would tell my story and perhaps you guys can give advice. I got acne about 1 and a half years ago, i'm now 17. I had been taking minocycline since the beginning of February this year and by June my skin was getting fairly clear and I felt more confident apart from a few marks but they would fade. I was using exfoliator, moisturiser, taking vitamins, drinking water and eating healthier. Before that time (and sort of during) I had a lot of anxiety
  10. Hi I’m Kelly and I’ve been recently struggling with an acne problem I thought was resolved :(. I have been taking minocyline for the past 3 months and recently was taken off of it by my derm. Also, I was on trentinoin .05% and clindamycin 1% gel along with the minocyline. I am still on the prescription gels however upon coming off the pill a week or two ago my face has consistently gotten worse breaking out. Shouldn’t the gels be preventing that? Will this get better with them or should I ask to
  11. Helloo Since around the beginning of September, I have been breaking out. Normally, I have relatively nice skin and only get around 1-3 pimples a month. Before school started, my skin was the best its ever been. There was a point where I had no pimples! But now I broke out badly. I think its partly from the stress because this school year has brought on more stress than I've ever encountered. But because of this bad breakout I went to the derm for the first time and she prescribed me 0.1% Tazor
  12. Okay I'm 14 and my acne has been really bad in the past couple months. I'm seriously so embarrassed to do anything. I'm even embarrassed being around my family. I'm sick and tired of my acne and trying so many products. This is gonna be my little acne diary type thing so I can update about changes and look back to see what works and what doesn't. Below is a list of things I've tried. Caveman Regimen Proactiv Clearisel Urine Therepy Lush Products Elf zit zapper OCM and probably a lot more
  13. Hello everyone! I have been suffering from cystic acne along my jawline (as you can see in the picture) for about a year now. I was prescribed with 115mg solodyn, and I have been taking it for about 8 weeks now. While I do think the bumps on the right jawline feel slightly smaller, I haven't noticed any drastic changes in the sizes. I'm worried they will never disappear. If they will eventually go away, how long will it take? Lastly, I'm also experiencing red/brown marks from the
  14. I'm 21 years old and I had taken Minocycline for a while and heard if u take it too long u get grey spots and stuff so my skin was clear and I decided to come off it but then I got some pimples around my chin and didn't like it so I went to the derm and asked if I could try doxycycline (cause my brother takes it) and I took it for about 2 weeks and it broke me out so bad I was so upset! I had deep pimples that I couldn't cover up. I called my derm and said it didn't work for me and did the oppos

    Acne not leaving

I had mild acne, so I was prescribed minocycline 100mg a day along with other home remedies. I have been doing this for 5 months and saw little improvement so my dose was increased to 200mg a day along with retin a. I exercise daily, no dairy, moisturize, change sheets every 3 days, plenty of water along with vitamin A and C supplements. My acne has seemed to be getting worse recently and I feel hopeless. Any ideas?

    Wits End

I need some help. So I had been clear for a long time(over a year) on the following regimen: Am: cetaphil normal-oily skin cleanser Duac Cetaphil moisturizer Oracea Pm: cetaphil cleanser again Retin a micro .04 Cetaphil moisturizer Ortho tri cyclen Then, I started getting occasional cysts on my chin, so I went to ortho cyclen. This cleared me up completely for two months. I stopped taking oracea, and my skin went downhill quickly. I started getting lots of little pimples al
  17. My 15 yr old healthly son has major liver damage (drug induced autoimmune hepatitis) and is now a patient at the liver transplant center due to taking minocycline for acne. His dermatologist kept him on the minocylcline for 1 year without checking his blood. If you are on any medication be sure to require periodic blood checks even if the Dr says it's not standard protocol.
  18. From the album: My Mini Acne Journey

I've dealed with acne since I was 12 or 13 years old. I am now almost 21. Had a bad case my sophomore year and then it calmed down. After it became a steady battle with mild to moderate acne. My skin also scars extremely easy, so that was challenging. But by the end of 2013 and very beginning of this year, my skin was great! I had very little scarring and I rarely broke out. I felt like I was finally growing out of my acne phase and that it wouldn't strike me again. Man was I wrong. This
  19. Hi everyone! I just made a profile and decided to start a blog about my acne. I think it'll be a good way to reflect on what I'm going through and track my progress. I haven't decided yet if I'll put pictures up of my skin, maybe in a few weeks when (hopefully) I've improved a little bit. I'll start with a description of me and my skin, but I'll put it in the blog description as well for any newcomers once the blog has gotten longer. I'm 20 years old, female. I go to school at a small colle
  20. Heredity: "its in your genes" Sadly this is one area that we cannot do much about. Some of us have acne because one or both of our parents had acne. In my case my mother has flawless skin. My dad on the other hand hand acne through his teenage years and tends to still breakout when under stress. We can't fight heredity...or can we? We can't change what is programmed in our genes. What we can do is fight as heck to keep it under control. I wish there was a cure!! But when
  21. Okay, here goes: Everything started almost a year ago. Just after christmas and new years' day. Lovely way to start 2012, now that I think about it. It was about two weeks before christmas, give or take a little. I had (still have) moderate acne that was just ugly and irritating and I figured the dermatologist might be able to help. Went to the office, it was this really nice woman who said my acne was bad enough to take a prescription pill for it. She told me minocycline was a good pill t

    Day 20

Day 20 - Entry's gonna be long. Topic 1: minocycline side effects Topic 2: what I picked on my face Topic 3: pimple updates Topic 4: vitamin c horrors Skip around haha ----------- I started off today feeling super tired and very crappy. I was a bit depressed, especially about my skin. It felt hopeless... I didn't know why but then I realized its probably my antibiotics every since I switched from solodyn brand to the generic minocycline, I started feeling super tired... more than I
  23. Hey guys I could really use some advice. I am 16, female and have been struggling with mild to moderate acne for a few years now. Last year, in 3 months, epiduo and doxycycline cleared my skin beautifully. Then November 2014 it started to wear off so I went to the derm and she prescribed 100 mg minocycline every night along with nightly use of ziana gel. It is now January 2015. I have been on this regimen for 3 months and have seen little improvement. Sometimes I have good weeks, but I almost al
  24. (So i dropped off my prescription quite late so i wasnt able to have an actually "day 1" of using the three products. ) btw if you're wondering on how my skin is (oily) and was, i made another blog entry first night: -used bianca for the first time, took minocycline (100mg once a day before bedtime) for the first time -bianca had no stinging or redness or itchiness. the texture was surprising to me, it was a clear runny gel consistency. -after an hour i applied neutrogena oil-free mo
  25. I started taking minocycline 100mg a day about 3 mo ago. I’ve never had problems sleeping in my life, but ever since being on this I have moderate insomnia. I can normally get to sleep ok, but I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and feel like I’m wide awake. Which leads to being really tired and irritable the next day as you can imagine. My doctor said he’s never heard of minocyline causing insomnia, but when I do a google search I see groups of people wondering/complaining about the s
