  1. (So i dropped off my prescription quite late so i wasnt able to have an actually "day 1" of using the three products. ) btw if you're wondering on how my skin is (oily) and was, i made another blog entry first night: -used bianca for the first time, took minocycline (100mg once a day before bedtime) for the first time -bianca had no stinging or redness or itchiness. the texture was surprising to me, it was a clear runny gel consistency. -after an hour i applied neutrogena oil-free mo
  2. Week 1 Started minocycline 50mg twice daily (100mg total). Taking alongside vitamin C to prevent discolouration of gums and any scar tissue. Avoiding calcium and vitamin A as much as possible. Taking a probiotic (100 billion) along with yogurt with lunch. Noticed malaise on day one and a loss of appetite at dinner. Day two provided some more loss of appetite served with a side of light nausea. Reflux was noted intermittently for the first week.
  3. Before joining the club Now I'm 31, recalling my whole time of teen years, I never had more than 2 or 3 pimples on my face at the same time. I'm not saying my face was perfect. What worried me was dryness of my face and I've never experienced any big skin problem even under great pressure, sleeping late, junk food or a list of bad living habits. Even I had to work overnight for many nights since a few years ago, only 2 or 3 appeared and it never was a matter in my mind ---- until 4 months ago
  4. Hi everyone! I just made a profile and decided to start a blog about my acne. I think it'll be a good way to reflect on what I'm going through and track my progress. I haven't decided yet if I'll put pictures up of my skin, maybe in a few weeks when (hopefully) I've improved a little bit. I'll start with a description of me and my skin, but I'll put it in the blog description as well for any newcomers once the blog has gotten longer. I'm 20 years old, female. I go to school at a small colle
  5. I am finally clearing up with Minocycline 100mg prescription and benzoyl peroxide 5%. Been using it for a month both together and its starting to show. The problem is I have horrible red marks all over my face (not scars but reddish even blueish marks) and I know aloe vera really helps with this. My question is how should I implement it into my daily routine? In the morning i wash my face with a light cleanser then put on benzoyl peroxide and leave it for 10 minutes, after that I wash it off and
  6. Helloo Since around the beginning of September, I have been breaking out. Normally, I have relatively nice skin and only get around 1-3 pimples a month. Before school started, my skin was the best its ever been. There was a point where I had no pimples! But now I broke out badly. I think its partly from the stress because this school year has brought on more stress than I've ever encountered. But because of this bad breakout I went to the derm for the first time and she prescribed me 0.1% Tazor

    Day 20

Day 20 - Entry's gonna be long. Topic 1: minocycline side effects Topic 2: what I picked on my face Topic 3: pimple updates Topic 4: vitamin c horrors Skip around haha ----------- I started off today feeling super tired and very crappy. I was a bit depressed, especially about my skin. It felt hopeless... I didn't know why but then I realized its probably my antibiotics every since I switched from solodyn brand to the generic minocycline, I started feeling super tired... more than I
  8. Heredity: "its in your genes" Sadly this is one area that we cannot do much about. Some of us have acne because one or both of our parents had acne. In my case my mother has flawless skin. My dad on the other hand hand acne through his teenage years and tends to still breakout when under stress. We can't fight heredity...or can we? We can't change what is programmed in our genes. What we can do is fight as heck to keep it under control. I wish there was a cure!! But when
  9. My 15 yr old healthly son has major liver damage (drug induced autoimmune hepatitis) and is now a patient at the liver transplant center due to taking minocycline for acne. His dermatologist kept him on the minocylcline for 1 year without checking his blood. If you are on any medication be sure to require periodic blood checks even if the Dr says it's not standard protocol.
  10. Hi I’m Kelly and I’ve been recently struggling with an acne problem I thought was resolved :(. I have been taking minocyline for the past 3 months and recently was taken off of it by my derm. Also, I was on trentinoin .05% and clindamycin 1% gel along with the minocyline. I am still on the prescription gels however upon coming off the pill a week or two ago my face has consistently gotten worse breaking out. Shouldn’t the gels be preventing that? Will this get better with them or should I ask to
  11. Hey guys, I’m currently on Differin 0.3% and Minocycline 100mg twice daily. I’ve been on the Differin for 3 months and the mino for less than 2 weeks. The Differin was doing absolutely nothing but ruining my skin, and the mino has helped me out a lot. BUT, I’m still getting new pimples every day, and I’m not too fond of the Minocycline. I’m looking for people who have transitioned straight from retinoids and/or Minocycline into Accutane and if you had an initial breakout? My face is FILLED w
  12. So today I went to my doctor and he prescribed me 100mg of Minocycline Hydrochloride for 1 month. (2 pills a day). I was also prescribed topical. Prior to my visit to the doctor, I mostly focused on using natural things including honey to fight off my acne. I would classify myself as mild (on the brink of moderate) acne. Ive been researching this acne drug and it seems that its side effects are quite scary. They include discoloration of skin, teeth, nausea, possibility of lupus, hairloss, and jo
  13. I've been on minocycline for a little more than 3 weeks now, since Dec 9, and I'm just wondering if it's going to start working? The first week I was put on 50mg of minocycline once per day, prescribed during an appointment with my family doctor, but I went to the hospital very depressed after 7 days of taking it with no improvement. It seemed like a low dose to me so I asked the doctor if it should be increased and he did decide to increase it and said it will work. So on Dec 16, I starte
  14. From the album: Ziana, Solodyn, Aczone. (& OCPs)

Like I mentioned before, my break-outs were calmed down before I started therapy-- I was just suffering with the hyperpigmentation aftermath from the break-out-of-the-century. So, these new break-outs this week are a bit unusual. It leads me to think that it is part of the initial "purging." I really hope so because it hasn't been terrible. However, if you notice in the long picture, I started to get some tiny white pustules on my chest. I don't have body acne, and this is certainly not acn

Only taking spironolactone (100 mg) and minocycline (200mg) daily.

Only taking spironolactone (100 mg) and minocycline (200mg) daily.
  17. I started taking minocycline 100mg a day about 3 mo ago. I’ve never had problems sleeping in my life, but ever since being on this I have moderate insomnia. I can normally get to sleep ok, but I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and feel like I’m wide awake. Which leads to being really tired and irritable the next day as you can imagine. My doctor said he’s never heard of minocyline causing insomnia, but when I do a google search I see groups of people wondering/complaining about the s
  18. From the album: 2013

Okay this picture I believe was almost 2 months of using retin A 0.05% and minoclycline. A little improvement as you can see I only have one active white head, a big one unfortunately, and the redness and scars are just barely starting to fade.
  19. Hey everyone, So I am going to go on a rant here. I've been analyzing others posts for a couple of years and have decided to make one which describes my personal battle with acne/perioral dermatitis. I have been dealing with this problem for a long time and I am determined to find a cure or treat myself since I cannot let this take over my life and let it affect my confidence. I know I will be able to cure myself soon and help others. I will save the emotional trauma I went through due to th
  20. From the album: My Mini Acne Journey

I've dealed with acne since I was 12 or 13 years old. I am now almost 21. Had a bad case my sophomore year and then it calmed down. After it became a steady battle with mild to moderate acne. My skin also scars extremely easy, so that was challenging. But by the end of 2013 and very beginning of this year, my skin was great! I had very little scarring and I rarely broke out. I felt like I was finally growing out of my acne phase and that it wouldn't strike me again. Man was I wrong. This
  21. From the album: Spironolactone (100mg) + Minocycline (200mg) Progress

All my acne has vanished after two weeks of taking spironolactone (100mg) and minocycline (200mg), but I am left with a lot of redness and light scarring. Currently using an aspirin honey mask once a day.
  22. Do you share some of the same skin problems as me? So im on minocyclie right now.Started it a week and a half ago and my acne has decreased very much. I only have two active pimples and the rest are either bumps or marks. I wash my face with sea salt morning and night which does make the skin soft and works as a spot treatment. And i moisturize with neutrogena moisturizer. But the skin on my acne prone areas is red, as if it is irritated or sweating. All other areas of my face are clean and fres
  23. Hi guys, i am totally new to this forum, but am desperate for answers. Firstly a bit of background, I'm 20 years old, diagnosed with pcos when i was 15yrs. my symptoms are acne, a little hair thinning and some body hair. I have started taking 100 mg of minocycline and 100mg of sprionolactone for about 3 months, and have noticed that my hairline has started to recede and my parting is becoming wider. I am losing more hair then usual in the shower as well. I'm freaking out!! if anyone else
  24. I'm 21 years old and I had taken Minocycline for a while and heard if u take it too long u get grey spots and stuff so my skin was clear and I decided to come off it but then I got some pimples around my chin and didn't like it so I went to the derm and asked if I could try doxycycline (cause my brother takes it) and I took it for about 2 weeks and it broke me out so bad I was so upset! I had deep pimples that I couldn't cover up. I called my derm and said it didn't work for me and did the oppos
  25. Hey everybody, I've been on Clindamycin Phosphate 1%, Minocycline 80mg 1x Day, and BP Fash Wash 5% for a week now (all in the morning). So far, the only things I've noticed is that my face is much more red, and I've had an initial breakout. My chin and jawline just has multiple whiteheads compared to the 1 or two it had prior to the medication, and my forehead is still with small, bumpy pink acne spots. Is it common to experience an initial breakout with these products? PS: I take V
