    I need hope

I’m a 25 yesr old female with mild acne and sebhorreic dermatitis. I just started a course of accutane 20 mg a day. I’m very scared, everytime i take the pill I get anxious and want to vomit because I think I’m damging my body and my skin and isotret is only going to make things worse for me, but apparently they gave it to me because nothing else seema to qork, but I come here and all I read is people saying how it ruined their lifes and their skin and how horrible it is and maybe my skin isnt t
  3. Im a British 14 year old girl, i take really good care of my skin and i never forget to wash my face or take my make-up off...I have mild/moderate acne and it's horrible. It absolutely rules my life, I won't leave the house without make-up on, I try to avoid any situations where my make-up could get rubbed off, I've come up with a million excuses at school for not going swimming so that my friends don't see what my skin is like... They all have perfect, glowing skin and I feel so ugly being the
  4. I have mild - moderate acne (right now it would be classified as mild). I've had this persisting problem for maybe a year now. I can't remember if I had it or not last year or the years before because it is very mild...but nowadays it bothers me. The pores next to my nose on the right side (not ON my nose but like right next to it) constantly get clogged. They get visibly filled with pus, and I can pop them right away. But either they refill within a day or another pore near them gets clogge

    Azelaic Acid log

Beginning of second day of use of Azelaic acid (began with first application previous night) and I thought I'd stick with a log of general behaviours that may affect my skin as well. Skin: Moderate amount of papules (10-12) on forehead and temples and a cluster of small pustules above one eyebrow. Small number of papules on rest of face, with two pustules on upper lip. Skin is quite bad, having been nearly clear aside from 1 pustule and a couple whiteheads a week ago. Morning after using the

    Day 1

Yesterday I started my new skin care plan. In the morning I put raw honey on my face and let it sit for like three minutes. I then take a hot wash cloth and lay it on my face then wash the honey off. I found that this leaves my face feeling great. It feels soft and not oily at all which is surprising for me because I have really oily skin. After all the honey is off my skin, I pat my face dry and apply my apple cider vinegar toner. At night I did the oil cleansing method with grapeseed o

    Done with week three !

So I am done with week 3 and going in week 4 already ! time is passing by so fast which is a good thing while on roaccutane . So sadly I am in the bad phase now, the past week I had break outs and it seems like acne are taking longer to heal (or at least to puff down). The past week my nose was very bumpy and rough, it seems like the blackheads on my nose are coming out which made the texture of my nose very rough and weird. Even though I know I am not suppose to do any scrubbing while on ro
  8. Hi everyone, I have a few queries. Firstly, I'm using this sunscreen <- please click to see! I trust Cetaphil as a brand, the brand was recommended by my derm. However, I noticed that on the suncreen it does not say "oil-free", it also has Titanium Dioxide in it which is known to break people out. Also, I have a mild allergy to dairy meaning when I eat it, I will get pimples. If I am on 20mg Accutane 3 times a week, and have been for 3-4 weeks will these things break me out? Please help!
  9. Hi there. I just started Sprintec birth control (generic of ortho cyclen) about 2 weeks ago. Also, I've been using epiduo for a little over two months now. I am a teenage girl with mild to moderate acne on my chin, middle checks, and a spot or two on my forehead. I used epiduo last year and cleared in 3 months (along with doxy) but became resistant and took a 5 month break. Now I'm still experiencing breakouts and not seeing much improvement in my skin. Birth control was my last hope because I d

    Week 1-Ish

Well, I never thought that I would be posting on an acne forum...but here I am. Overview: I have had really horrible back acne for the past 3 years. I was prescribed tretinoin cream for it when it began, this always cleared it up within a month or 2. However, my current doctor decided not to prescribe me the cream and instead gave me clindamycin lotion. This didn't help (she didn't mention that I should also use BP with it...). So after a month of doing that, she put me on doxycycline. I ha

    Acne With Eczema?

So as you may have seen from earlier posts, I attempted the caveman regimen after coming off of benzoyl peroxide as a way of detoxing the damage that the chemical caused to my skin. My skin was very very very oily as a result of using BP, so I thought I'd give the caveman regimen a try as I'd heard of it helping oily skin. So that was nearly 3 months ago. About 2 months in, I discovered the oiliness had subsided but now completely. Although my skin had almost completely cleared of acne itself,
  12. I was put on accutane for quite mild acne. I got acne maybe 2.5 years ago. I was 21 when I first began getting it. It was usually mild (easy to cover up most of the time). Sometimes I'd have a bad break out and it would be moderate for a month. It was still annoying enough for me to return back to the doctor every few months to try another prescription. what I've been on in the last 2.5 years (in order) - tactuopump (topical) - minocycline (antibiotic) - Diane-35 (birth control)
  13. Hello out there everyone! I'm just gonna jump right in. I'm 23 years old and I swear I thought I'd outgrow this acne. I started having issues with my skin when I was about 13, but back then I was able to get rid of it just by changing my diet (IE, no more sodas like 13 year olds tend to go after, and more water). Everything was calm up until my junior year of high school and my face blew up with a vengeance: painful cystic acne around my chin (it hurt to smile =/) and forehead, redness, w
  14. I see a lot of posts on here from accutane users but I've noticed they all are from people with more moderate/severe acne. I figured as someone currently on accutane for mild acne i'd make one to talk about what my experience is like, maybe to help another user like me. Before anyone freaks out about me being on it for mild acne, let me explain myself. I've had mild but persistent acne since I was around 11 or 12. I started going on topical and oral meds when I was 14 but nothing really hel

    Day 2

Yesterday I followed everything exactly as the day before except I wore makeup during the day. I'm glad to say that my face has not worsened, in fact I think my blackheads are less noticeable and my complexion looks slightly less bumpy. My skin feels clean even when I wake up which is strange because normally it's extremely oily. The only thing I can complain about is how long it takes at night and the smell of my toner, but if it works it's totally worth it. I will update tomorrow and from then
  16. So I was almost clear, literally 2 pimples away. My usual 2% salicylic acid wasn't working, so I decided to try benzoyl peroxide. I had tried it before with 5% and it had no result so I got 10% this time. It got rid of the pimples I wanted it to, but now I'm breaking out in a bunch of tiny ones on the left side of my forehead! There are also ab few big ones that are almost the size of mosquito bites! School starts again in 3 days! How do I get rid of this??
  17. Hi everyone, I have been dealing with this problem for months now ever since using Grapeseed oil. I always have acne prone skin prone to clogged pores, however i went clear after pregnancy and treating them using just carrot health soap and .25% tretinoin liquid. I get a few spots here and there prior to my menstruation but not the clogged pores on my forehead cheeks and chin have subsided. After using grapeseed oil last September, my face was a mess. I though it was purging, but the clogged
  18. Hi everyone! I've been lurking these message boards for a while but this is my first post here. I am a 19 year old girl and have gone almost my whole life with PERFECT skin. However, within the past 1-2 years my skin has progressively gotten worse. Most would still consider it to be mild- my main problem is TONS of small little closed comedones/blackheads. They give my skin a terrible texture and look really bad especially in certain lighting. I also get red somewhat inflamed bumps along my lowe

    Week 1 Day 5

Today is my fifth day taking Accutane, and my face has definitely developed a few more blemishes. Really haven't experienced any side effects, although my lips are a tad bit dry. I will also add that my face is feeling VERY oily right now, but I have been reading that is usually pretty common when you first start your treatment. It just feels very weird because my skin is never very oily, usually more on the dry side. Oh Well. No initial breakout so far that has been too bad, like I mentione
  20. Just an early warning, please excuse any misspelling or minor grammatical errors. English isn't my native tounge and this post is written in a emotional tired induced frenzy. Hey everyone, I've been keeping a watch on this forum from time to time checking threads for possible solutions to acne outbreaks and just to find some comfort in knowing that I'm not alone one out there who knows the struggle. I'm at the age of 21, male and have been in warfare with acne since the age of 14. Since
  21. I've been researching this all night. And it seems promising. But I'm pretty scared to try it. I've had mild to mild-moderate acne since I was 13/14. I'm 18 now. And my acne right now is probably the worst it's ever been. And I'm starting to notice a pattern... Lately I've tried so many different products on my face. Proactiv (cringe) being one of them. I'm thinking I stripped my skin, and made it dependent on chemicals. At least, from these threads on using no acne medications, this is what I
  22. hi everyone! Today is the day I began accutane and I am keeping a daily log to keep track of my progress! I am a 19 year old girl, weigh 110 pounds, and am taking 40mg of zenatane a day. My acne would be described as mild, but i suffer from many clogged pores and blackheads with some whiteheads also that leave hyperpigmentation. I used to have PERFECT skin 1-2 years ago, so it has taken a huge toll on my confidence and self-esteem. I'm so excited to feel the way i used to and not have t
  23. hello everyone this is my first ever post as i just signed up for some guidance.. i would say i have fairly mild acne, its not alot in any one area its just spaced out over my face so its not cystic and i dont very often have white heads on my face which is good, although i constantly have blackheads on my nose that are only really noticeable up close. okay so heres my story ive had acne since i was around 15 (im now 20) the severeness has changed a few times.. in june 2012 i suffered a bra

My Journey With Acne (Mild) [1]

Yesterday I took the plunge and posted here for the first time. Acne (however mild) has been 'my secret' for about a year now. I realize people know I have it, but I don't talk about it to others and they don't mention it to me. First of all i'd like to mention the help I've recieved from this website. By reading what Dan has to say and what other memebers have had to say, has really helped me a lot - you guys are so knowledgeable. All I can say is thank the lord one of us is, I still have a
  25. I have pretty mild acne and have exhausted all other methods short of accutane and spironolactone. I'm 18. My face is consistently broken out and I want to know if I can take spironolactone until I may grow out of acne?? I really don't want to go to a doctor about it because I don't want to take antibiotics (unless I for sure get spironolactone) so I'd prefer to get the answer from here and not waste a doc visit. Can an 18 year old take it?? Or is it meant for someone older??? Thanks
