  1. Does anyone have any suggestions on properly putting prescription acne medication on the back? It's so easy to mess areas. Thanks
  2. So I've been on tazorac for 7 weeks now and still getting cystic acne. Should I just stop and ask the doctor for a different medication?? When I originally went it was just hormonal acne on my chin, but now it's on my cheeks and their big and cystic. I take bactrum and wash my face with cetaphil face wash. Any suggestions??
  3. Hello! So I've been on Epidou and Doxycycling since January 12th of this year. I'm getting quite disappointed because I haven't had much relief although my cystic acne has turned into more superficial acne. (White heads and a tad smaller) I take 100 ml twice a day and use the Epidou once a day as instructed. I also take tons of vitiams. It's discouraging to read most people claim to have their skin much better by 4-6 weeks with both medications. I get at least one pimple a day which definetly ad
  4. Has anyone who has taken kratom for an extended period of time experienced a flare up in acne? Kratom can be taken in a pill form or can used in a powder form to be mixed in a beverage. Kratom is a holistic alternative for pain relief and comes from the same greenery as the coffee bean.
  5. Hi, my family doctor recently prescribed me Tactupump (about 3 weeks now). I've read that the burning and the dryness goes away after 2 weeks tops however mine is as bad as it has ever been. When I use cleanser it burns a bit; some cleansers I use burn a lot more than others but I'm currently using the one that burns the least and it's nothing TOO painful but I still feel the burn. It's also noticeably red on the areas I've been applying Tactupump. My acne hasn't been that bad in a while a
  6. Hi everyone, thank you now for taking a min to read my first posting on this site. Like everyone else here, I am an hardcore acne sufferer! I do everything that is recommended, eat clean, don't smoke, take acne meds, etc, etc. It has been a long and hard journey, I have done three rounds of Accutane ( can't do anymore due to liver damage) five rounds of Fraxal laser treatment to help reduce the scars and breakouts, mountains of topical creams and retanoids perscribed by doctors all with min
  7. I have been on the prescription drug, Minocycline, for the past year. Before that i experienced not necessarily severe but pretty spontaneous acne..not in bunches just a lot of pimples by them selves mainly on chin, around lips, on cheek bones and fore head. I have tried creams and gels and prescription gels and nothing gets rid of them. Once I took Minocycline I rarely !!!! Very rarely would get pimples just sometimes when my period was coming up a few would pop up but nothing to stress over. R
  8. Hey everyone! Spironolactone users- i'm just wondering whether any of you experience an increase in breakouts when you up your dosage? I recently had mine upped by 25 mgs (from 75 to 100) and am now breaking out in places I don't usually. I'm unsure whether this is a sign that I should go back to my regular dose, or whether I should stick it out. Thanks in advance!
  9. Hey guys, I'm 18 and I've had moderate acne for about 4 years now, I've tried every single topical and medication out there for my acne and the only thing that works slightly is BP, but my acne is getting worse by the day. I've come to the point in my life where I don't care what anyone thinks, I don't care if i haven't got 'cystic' acne or 'proper' acne, I just want it gone. Its effecting my life so much to where I don't feel like I can do anything any more. I get so upset and it just feels lik
  10. Hi everyone! So I have mild to moderate acne but it is still very aggravating dealing with this. I get face bumps, shaving bumps, everything but it is mild but dealing with it everyday is just a pain. I used alot of over the counter medication but none worked. I was prescribed I believe tetracycline about an year ago and that worked great! I took one pill daily or every other day and I was 100% acne free and I would get no shaving bumps or anything. This I believe continued for about 8
  11. Hi Everyone! This is my first time reaching out to anyone nonetheless a lot of anyones! I'm almost 23 years old and I've spent the last 12 years struggling with acne. Not only does it bother me in the physical sense but it has gotten to the point where I can't be in fully lit rooms for fear of people seeing my skin (even with makeup on) and I have avoided mirrors unless I'm face planted into one looking at all the bumps. I have tried OTC remedies, all natural ingredients remedies, all the kit
  12. So I completed 5 months of Accutane, and after previously having severe acne (it made those stupid proactive ad before shots look like heaven) my skin is fully clear! I didn't really have a medical reason, the only side effects I got were dry lips and easy sunburn, but I stopped at 5 months. I was only on 20 mg/day dose the entire time and it worked wonders, now a month off, I got my first two pimples in a few months. I freaked out and since I had 1 month at least (could get more) lef
  13. I am going to be starting Accutane in a day or two and my dermatologist told me to eat foods that are high in fat when I take my pill. I am a vegan and I am just wondering what some good foods are that are high in fat. So far I can think of olive oil, nuts (like peanut butter), and avocados. Would vegan butter be a food that is high in fat? Or can you tell me any other foods that would be good to eat?
  14. I went to a psychiatrist on Tuesday to try and get back in some sort of treatment for my mental instabilities. Right now my biggest struggle is Body Dysmorphic Disorder regarding my face/skin. Anyways, my psych decided to put me back on medications that I know triggered my acne a couple years ago. I'm on a few meds, but the one that causes acne is Lithium, so I haven't been taking it. There is plenty of research that confirms my fears and proves that Lithium causes inflammatory acne in at least
  15. Is it okay to open all the pills up and combine them in one container? It's really annoying having to carry around that big box.. Im going on vacation soon and do not want to display my accutane boxes around other people Maybe combining them all in a tylenol bottle?
  16. Hello, I've just been recently prescribed by my dermatologist Isotretinoin (accutane) and am on my 4th day of treatment. After doing extensive research on how accutane affects growth, it really concerns me as I'm currently only 16 years and 8 months old and hence am still in the growing stage of my life. My dermatologist however has prescribed me a very low dosage of 10mg per day for 7 consecutive days, after which would be switching onto a 30mg PER WEEK dose. My body mass is currently 65k
  17. I have been told by my doctor that although there is no evidence that using azelaic acid during pregnancy should harm the foetus/breastfeeding child (especially in comparison to things like retin a etc) that she thinks I should stop using finacea if I chose to get pregnant.... just in case. I was very distressed by this as I have just found out that I have endometriosis and so I won't want to leave pregnancy for too long if I decide to have children (I have booked in to see a counsellor to d
  18. I have just been prescribed Trimethoprim, an antibiotic commonly used for bladder infections?? It has been given to me to treat my recurring/stubborn acne. It is 200mg and I have to take one tablet twice a day. My question is, when exactly should I take the tablets? How many hours should I wait before each dose? Should I have them on an empty stomach?
  19. Hey guys. I wanted to share with you the skin that I had before I was a tretinoin user, and this is my skin now. I was perscibed a medication to take during the day but Tretinoin is what saved me, I want you guys to see for yourselves. Be patient and wait 6 months and you won't be dissatisfied. The last two pictures are my skin now, and this is what I consider a breakout to me (I have two blemishes and I consider it a breakout, that's how good tretinoin is for acne) good luck :)
  20. I am a 29 year old female who has suffered cystic acne for about three years. I have had hypothyroidism for several years (hashimotos). When I left my condition untreated, I did not have cystic acne. Ever! Three years ago, I started thyroid replacement therapy. I tried synthroid, levothyroxine and most recently, naturethroid. I developed severe cystic acne (with all three). I tried antibiotics and accutane. No success. About 9 months ago, I got on spironolactone (25 mg a day) and Yaz. I felt hor
  21. So I've been on 100 mg a day of spironolactone for almost 6 months now and I need help deciding if I should call it quits and move on and try accutane in an attempt to clear my skin. I've taken it religiously and I don't know if it's really doing me any good. My skin has always been oily and I would get cystic pimples from time to time but around a year ago, things got really bad. I wasn't getting a huge pimple occasionally, instead I had like 7 huge ones at once so I went to the derm and he gav
  22. Hi, my name is Eve and i'm 16 years old. I have struggled with fairly severe acne for a few years now and its seems like i have tried it all, it may seem like nothing as I'm a teenager and this should seem normal but it started when I was around 11 and I'm pretty sick of it now. I mainly deal with a normal amount on my face but loads on my chest, arms, back ad neck. I have recently been referred to a dermatology clinic and was offered roaccutane, in the past I have been prescribed creams, ant
  23. Hi everyone! I just have a question I'd like to post to everyone about acne... If you were given a proven system to clear your skin without topical treatment, what would be your most preferred method of learning how to do it? Method 1 - Online Program (e-Learning platform describing everything about clearing your skin - do it yourself at your own pace) Method 2 - 1 on 1 Coaching (Customized system to meet your needs working 1 on 1)
  24. First, I want to say that I hope nothing but the best for those going through the tough acne stage. I've been there before, and it's not easy for sure. For those of you who would like to add on or share anything, feel free to do so. I would gladly appreciate it. I want to share my personal experience to you all, hoping that it will be of some help. Here is my story. I am a 16 year old male and I had pretty severe acne as a kid growing up. At the moment I'm still going through puberty, and
  25. Hello everybody. I just started accutane yesterday and will be taking my secon pill today. I have quite bad acne and spots as you can see in the picture and it really has a bad effect on my confidence (If I even have that anymore...) I just feel like it's so bad that there is no way that anything can make it better and I'm probably overreacting, but it really brings me down. I just have that thought in my head of "what if it doesn't work" and I feel that there is nothing for me to do and I ha
