  1. This whole time I was eagerly waiting to start month 4 because during my last round I took photos as often as I could remember and it w after month 3 that I noticed a definite improvement in my skin. And, I can say that has held true! I don’t have any major breakouts. I don’t still have quite a few very small unnoticeable comedones on my chin that I honestly don’t know if they’ll ever come to surface if I don’t aggravate them. I sort of want them out, tho. Is it worth the break out and potential
  2. The dryness is back. My skin is really flakey and it is making it really hard to wear make up without it cracking and looking horrible. Really don't want to leave my house but trying my hardest to keep the dryness down. Spots are still there but not as angry.
  3. Hi there guys I was just wondering if someone could tell me what severity of acne I have. I have had acne since I was about 12-13 much worse than it is now. Currently I use epiduo every night with aveeno moisturiser afterwards and I use a black pore mask once a week. However despite this I continue to suffer with large red pimples under the skin that are painful and take a long time to go away. Does anyone have any tips to help get rid of these because they make me extremely unhappy and make me
  4. This year, I've become increasingly frustrated with my acne since it has started appearing more frequently in strange places - like my forearms, hands, fingers, and stomach. While in the past I put my acne concerns on the back burner, recent events have made fighting this acne a much higher priority. It's at least somewhat socially acceptable to have acne on the face - or on the back and chest - but not other weird places. It's just scary and frustrating to think that I might not have any c
  5. I'm sorry I haven't posted about the past few days. I didn't have time to access the internet this weekend. I'll just quickly summarize how my skin's been doing: Day 25: Again, flaky skin. Even though I was in a van for about 10 hours, I insisted on wearing makeup the entire day. There were travel videos to worry about and such. I bought Tarte's Maracuja Miracle Foundation the day before, which is a liquid. The woman selling me the product was successful in convincing me that liquid f
  6. I just need to post a bit to get it off my chest - the scars on my face are driving me MAD!!!!!!!! I just had to do my makeup outside, in sunny, natural light, where I NEVER look at my skin too closely, and I want to shrivel up and die. Honestly, I don't even do my makeup much anymore because it's somehow less depressing, if that makes sense? The thing is, all this has only happened within the past year, my skin was totally normal - not perfect, but normal - before last Fall. And no
  7. hey hey im kay i have had an acne problem for 5 years and a very bad case of acne i have cystic acne and it it very painful and irritated most of the time . when i was in grade 7 my acne started it wasn't at it worst but it was bad more than anything it was painful not just physically painful but emotionally painful .at the time i was the only one in my class with acne and no1 knew how to react i never used foundation or anything to hide it because i assumed it would make it worse and in a few
  8. I probably won't post in this blog very much, but I wanted to share my journey with everyone and have my whole story in one place so people know where i'm coming from. My battle with acne started years ago, probably when I was 11 or 12. I hit puberty early (I was 9) so I got to go through the awkward phase even sooner than most. Yay! I started out with the typical solutions to acne- when you're 11, mom says 'Just wash your face and you'll grow out of it soon enough'. When it became apparent
  9. Yesterday I took the plunge and posted here for the first time. Acne (however mild) has been 'my secret' for about a year now. I realize people know I have it, but I don't talk about it to others and they don't mention it to me. First of all i'd like to mention the help I've recieved from this website. By reading what Dan has to say and what other memebers have had to say, has really helped me a lot - you guys are so knowledgeable. All I can say is thank the lord one of us is, I still have a
  10. I wish I had some photos of myself... Just to update on the progress of my current skin cleansing regimen which I have found works well for my sensitive skin. To reiterate, I do have sensitive skin that stings & burns when it comes into contact with certain chemicals. What exactly those are I never know, but I'm trying to be minimalist and more natural in my skin care. For example, I burned myself with a small amount of Vaseline. Go figure. In the future, if I require something to help
  11. Helo! Can't believe I have been following the regimen for 3 weeks already (booyeah)! After all the redness, flaking and itchy skin, I have finally passed that stage already. My skin is no longer red but as compared to my neck, it is still a bit darker. But yea most of the active acne, I can say, are 95% gone from my face There are still acne scars caused by previous acne in some part of my cheeks. But as for the forehead and nose area are pretty much cleared. My current skin routine: -
  12. Hi everyone, i'm a 16 year old girl. l've been fighting this battle for going on 5 years. The reason i'm starting this blog is because i've spent hours and hours reading people's stories, and watching Youtube videos. l hope my story will help someone else. SOME HISTORY: My mom never had a problem with her skin. My dad on the other hand had severe cystic acne on his nose, jaw line, arms, chest, and back. ( He still gets huge cysts sometimes from stress.. ) WHEN IT STARTED: l started gett
  13. I noticed that the acne.org cleanser does not remove my makeup. Any suggestions? Are you gals using makeup remover first?
  14. So my dermatologist has had me on Epiduo Forte and Solodyn for 13 days now, and it's been working great for my acne (cystic and closed comedones). Backstory: my forehead had been the worst the areas since 6 months ago when this all started. So all the products/treatments I tried mainly concentrated there. I still put makeup on the lower half of the face, but never on the forehead. and when my skin started to get better, I wanted to give a bit of concealer or even foundati
  15. Hi all, I just wrote a tutorial on my blog for covering acne- with pictures and a step by step guide. Feel free to check it out. I used to be a professional makeup artist and also have acne- its actually not too bad at the moment but has been severe in the past. Whilst I'm having a flare up I thought it would be a good time to create a picture tutorial: www.4loveofmakeup.wordpress.com Here are some product recommendations- i swear by these! Laura Mercier Secret Camoflage conc
  16. helloo there! was wandering if anyone able to give me advice on a couple of things. I have combination skin which is extremely oily - i have been using BP 4% which has cleared up the odd cluster of spots that i would get but my problem is blackheads!! since probably age of 16 i have has blackheads completely covering my nose and all of my cheeks and obviously all over my chin - the blackheads in turn just make my face look an absolute mess. The texture is horrible - my pores are huge and no matt
  17. Hey guys, so, I've been lurking around here often but have FINALLY signed up. I need to know what I'm doing wrong, or what may be the cause of this terrible cystic breakout. Now, for a background story... Since I was around 14 I've had awful acne. Cysts, nodules, whiteheads, you name it (minus blackheads for some odd reason... hahah). I was put on tetracycline and tazorac and after about two months it worked wonders on my skin. I was clear and could walk out of the house without embarassment and
  18. Has anyone ever worned this? Its clear (no colour) & supposely "reflects" light off the face making skin appeared more smoother. ~ Sapphina

  20. I just received the following e-mail from Kathie (she's great) at Makeup Artists Choice: "We have our new 55% lactic acid pH 2.4 peel here....we simply haven't had time to list it yet, but hope to get it online sometime next week. That should help you tremendously and keep you in the lactic line so that we don't have to worry about undue irritation with glycolics or salicylic acid." She is sending me a sample. As soon as I get it (and try it), I'll post my feedback to this forum. (I kno
  21. Anybody tried this? It seems pretty strong. It contains salicylic acid and resorcinol. Ouch. It sounds similar to a Jessner peel but I don't know the acid percentages.

  23. thanks for the advice guys! also wanted to ask another question...with accutane, is it ok to take other tablets such as hayfever tablets or panadeine if needed for any reason? my derm didn't really elaborate on anything he just said not to take any vitamins.... also, for anyone wondering what makeup is ok for acne skin, my derm gave me a booklet which advised these brands: 1. Revlon new complexion oil free 2. Innoxa oil free foundation 3. Estee Lauder double matte oil control makeup
  24. Hey everyone! So I noticed there's not a whole lot about Perioral Dermatitis or other Dermatitis on the org. Thought I would start a discussion for those in need, me being one of them. So a little background info about me: I broke out in PD about 2 years ago, had no idea what it was, went on about 2 months worth of Tetracycline, and well it did clear up, but it was a painful 2 months. Recently, it just came back. My PD occurs just around my chin area, not the center specifically but the sides
  25. There are so many guides out there about mineral makeup! There are so many ingredients that can be put into mineral makeup. Some are good and some are not so good. There is also a lot of bad hype about certain ingredients that is simply not true. Another note about ingredients. Mineral makeup doesn't generally contain what people like to call "fillers". I have not seen an ingredient in my research that does not have some form of use in each product. So, I don't consider anything liste
