  1. Sooo.. just thought I'd use this as a place to track everything I'm doing for my skin. If I log, maybe I'll stay on track! Was doing low gi for a few weeks, my skin was getting so much better. Also started juicing a bit and taking extra supplements... until my best friends bday last week and my bfs bday a couple of days ago. Today, I now have about 6 new zits that just sprouted overnight. Could've been anything really.. lIquor, cookies, burgers, brownies, pizza, etc. I'm starting new
  2. I owe my success in beating acne to this board, and thought i'd pay it forward. Special thanks to Ichance23 for their post: I've summarised my diet and lifestyle below. I'm 5'8 and weighed 50kg when I began. Hence this diet is also intended for weight gain, so adjust as necessary. I'm 21 years old, and have had acne since 15. During those years I tried a couple of treatments (including DUAC gel) to no result. My GP suggested Accutane (or whatever its called in Australia), but I deci
  3. Sorry for the rather marketing sounding title, just thought this might be a place where I can get some advice So I've dealt with acne for a very long time.... I've had my ups and downs like everyone else here. I noticed about 2 years ago that my acne can be made about 95% clear through diet and ever since I've been gluten/wheat, soy, and dairy free. The last couple of months I've been at about 4800 calories bulking (eating in a calorie surplus to gain muscle mass and strength) at the gym whi
  4. Hi all, Just a really quick post to say that I have started following a low G.I diet. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which causes my acne and it has recently flared up again, much to my dismay. Doctor was no help at all, so after years of trying nearly every prescriptive treatment available, I've finally started trying some natural remedies. So far I seem to be having a lot of success with the low GI diet, vitamin D supplements, multivitamins & zinc, cod liver oil.... I h
  5. It's established by even mainstream medicine that a high-glycemic diet correlates with severity of acne. I am wondering if anyone is acquainted with any studies (like the following one) regarding the glycemic impact of meal frequency. A recent study on mice examining the effects of constant snacking vs. limited time frames for eating indicates that not snacking is better for blood sugar regulation in the rodents (which could have implications for humans):
  6. Hey everyone, I have been dealing with cystic acne for 10 years now (I'm 22). Back when I was 14 years old, I used BP 10% rather aggressively. Used to put it all over my face at night and wash with HOT water in the morning without moisturizing later. My skin got clear but very sensitive to sunlight and i would get major sunburns from staying out in the sun just for a few minutes. I had no idea moisturizers and sunscreen existed! Anyways, fast forwards 8 years and I am still dealing w
  7. Finished the summer off right. Went out to eat many times these past few days, eating whatever the f I wanted. Went grocery shopping today. Today is day 1 for me. As of today, I have two zits on left cheek drying up. A tiny one drying up on my right cheek. 3-5 drying up on my chin and two drying up on my forehead. Mind you, I ate a little bit of everything yesterday so a little dairy, gluten, nightshades, etc. Being good from here on out. I will update in a week! Pictures too! I'
  8. Hi everyone, I've been using this website for about 12 years now without posting. However, having finally managed to keep my skin clear for about 6 months now (which is incredible for me) I thought I would share what has worked for me in the hope it could help someone else. As a little background, I started suffering from acne when I was 18 (I'm 30 now) and it was pretty bad. I was eventually prescribed Dianette, which cleared my skin amazingly, but has some pretty scary side effects. I then
