  1. Hello all, I'm 18 and just started my freshman year of college which should be fun and exciting right? Wrong. I have always had the occasional pimple pmsing, but in the past 6 months I have had the most terrible onset of hormonal acne and I'm losing hope and feel incredibly insecure. Backstory: I noticed my hormonal acne appearing after I stopped playing competitive soccer (which I had played all my life). It appeared slowly, progressively getting worse. 5 months ago I went to a dermatolo
  2. Hey guys, I've been struggling with hormonal acne for about a year now. And I've realised that it's taking a tremendous toll on my psychological health: I think I've actually developed body dysphoria, or at least terribly low self esteem and depression, because of this. So in the last week, I've decided, fuck that! And I'm trying to change my attitude and try to really listen to my body instead of trying to subject it to various diets and pills and creams. Because obviously this acne is some
  3. I’ve suffered from acne for years. In the past, I’ve seen a dermatologist and was prescribed antibiotics. Those did do wonders for my skin but my body quickly became immune to them. After starting college, my breakouts became more hormonal because I would only breakout around my mouth, chin, and jaw. Eventually it got so bad that I decided to see an OBGYN and get prescribed birth control. I’ve never taken birth control before nor am I sexually active. However, I did research and found that it’
  4. this is really to document my acne journey for myself. and help me to work out my acne problems by writing it all down and putting it into the world. it's very long, and i'm very lol. maybe share your stories too so we can help each other out? i have bumps allllll over my forehead. my cheeks are sprinkled with it. the dark brown scars of past pimples are painfully obvious. and whoever said that it's harder to see irritated zits on medium to dark skin tone is a liar. a huge liar. you can very m
  5. Let this be the beginning of my birth control free life. Been takin' a yaz generic for four years. Basically completely cleared my skin up. I only get small break outs around my period or if I have a lot of sugar. Before birth control I had mostly moderate but at times severe acne since I started puberty. I was 20 when I started it and now I'm 24. I'm trying to be more health conscious overall so I'd like to stop taking it and solve my acne naturally. I've heard acne gets a lot worse afte
  6. As I discussed in my other post, I started taking Loryna for my cystic hormonal acne and it caused one of the worst breakouts of my entire life. The breakout mainly took place on my cheek, a place I don't normally suffer from acne. I've been using various topical products, both organic/natural and acne treatment medications (salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide). The blemishes from the breakout are starting to heal and flatten out—most of the redness on my face is hyperpigmentation and acne marks
  7. Hi guys! Ive been on the generic pill of Yaz, Loryna, going on 3 months. Before taking this pill, I consulted with my OB about how I'm always breaking out on my chin in what appears cystic acne. It hurts verrry badly. She said I wouldn't see a clear up until 6 months until my hormones balance to the pill and I understood. My problem is, I use to never break out on my whole entire face and now I am and they leave behind scars. What can I do in the meantime to help the progression of clearing my a
  8. Hi everyone, I really need your help! I went on the Yaz generic version, Loryna, almost 8 months ago (I'm on the last week of my 7th pack) for my acne and to regulate my period. While my period is regular now, I'm still experiencing consistent itchy breakouts, many cystic and some whiteheads. It seems like every day I'm getting a new one! I'm really conflicted because when I told my gyno about this a few months ago, she said "stay on it for a year". I feel like if it's really not working, it'
