  1. Hi the reason I'm sharing this is because there is close to no info on the web regarding low dose, long term Accutane treatments. i figured i would share my story and info and offer some insights. Background info (you can skip reading this if you want) So basicly started having mild/moderate acne since 2009/2010 (i was 18 then) mild/moderate acne. First year of Uni (2010) i ate like crap, kfc and mcdonalds every meal for literally a whole year. Im not even kidding every meal for a year i ate
  2. I just started taking one 20mg pill per week. NOT per day. I tried 40mg per day a while back and didn't get very far due to the side effects. so it has been about a week so far on 20mg/week, obviously not going to see any results yet but I am looking for others to share their experience with taking a low dose course like mine so i can get a general understanding of how long it usually takes for people to see positive results with this kind of dose. so please share your experience(s), there are n
  3. Hi, Has anyone on here had Pulse dye laser treatments? This page looks very promising, saying many people don't ever have to come back after they've done a run of treatments. And it works for cystic acne as well. It shrinks the sebaceous glands in the skin so that less acne can develop. http://www.bigappleskin.com/laser-for-acne.html Anyone? I just had it done a couple days ago, but of course its too early to tell.....
  4. Hi all, I've been a lurker here for a while now and had a couple of questions for anyone familiar with Tretinoin or other Retinoids. I developed bad acne around 5 years ago. After trying nearly everything, I started using Ziana 4 years ago and switched to .05% about a year ago. Since starting, my skin has gotten a lot better with the occaisonal large cyst. The main reason for this post is because I am wondering if long term use of this will damage my skin. I do use a moisturizer, but hav
  5. I live near cleveland, ohio. I have found no dermatologists willing to do low dose (10 or 20mg) long term accutane( say a year or longer?) . I was on 40 mg for 5 months age 17. The. 120mg for 5 months age 23. Now I'm 25 and my skin is still very high maintenance acne and rosacea. Anyone know how I can get on a low dose but long term acfutane course
  6. Today I took my first Accutane pill (Clarivis, actually), and after reading all the horror stories I'm wondering if some of the symptoms are age related, as in maybe there are more poor interactions when a body isn't fully matured. I'm hoping to find other people who started accutane later, after 25 or 30, to tell me if you had long term side effects after you finished. I'm especially worried about fatigue, joint pain, sex drive, and vaginal dryness. Also, what were the first side effects
  7. Hi, I started taking minocycline 50mg capsules after I got a big nodule and I started breaking out with big deep pimples, often with no heads. My derm has prescribed me 50mg of minocycline and tells me to keep taking it once a day. I've been doing this for well over 2 years and my skin has been for the most part clear with only some regular small pimples here and there. Not as bad as before. lately I've been conserned about the long term effects and when I expressed this to my derm he simply sa
  8. Hello, I have a 22 year history of cystic acne. It started the week my second child was born and for MANY years was totally uncontrollable. My derm tried me on every antibiotic and acne cream on the market, and eventually I took Accutane. I broke out again one month after completing the Accutane treatment, although, my acne was not quite as severe. For the next several years I just used Proactive and prescription creams on and off. About seven years ago I began to get the severe cystic lesions
  9. I'm a caucasian 17 (almost 18) male and I've had moderate acne since i was about 13. Ive been on and off many different treatments. First I was only on bp and topical antibiotics. Then I was prescribed Doxy, 0.1% retin A, and the same topical antibiotic by my father (who is a MD). This worked fairly well, a lot of my acne cleared up for a while but it started to creep back and so I went to see a dermatologist. The dermatologist prescribed me Minocycline instead of doxy (due to photosensitivity),
  10. I'm looking to be prescribed long term, low dose Accutane. I see some people here with that treatment; however, they all seem to be in Australia, New Zealand, or England. I've tried one doctor with no luck. Before I try another and another... is this even a treatment done by US doctors? Some background on myself: 33, white, male, acne and very oily skin since 15, Accutane is the only thing that works for me. Other than dryish skin and dry lips; I've had no negative side effects. My skin: f
  11. So I've been using the acne.org regimen for almost a year now. I had severe acne on my face ever since I was fourteen, and nothing ever helped until I found this website. I went through the initial phase of dryness when using the BP, and after 5 months my skin was looking significantly better. However, in November of 2015, about 9 months after I started the regimen, I started to get these red dry patches on my face. I stopped using the BP for a week and they cleared up, but now every time I try
  12. I’m 26. I started breaking out when I 10 years old and now I’m 26 so that’s 16 years of bad skin. I’ve tried everything available. I’ve been on two rounds of Accutane and have been on Yasmin the past year but I’m still breaking out everywhere on my face and chest. I have heaps of blackheads on my nose and even get them on my arms. I am back on this site after I first joined 6 years ago to see if anyone can help me. I’ve tried vitamins, clean diets, all available skin products and everything i
  13. Hi there, I was on BP for about 3 years, Differin for about 9 months during that period. I quit BP and am clear as of about a month and a half ago. I quit largely because the photosensitivity was out of control and it was ruining my life. I just use Dan's moisturiser and his gentle cleanser. After quitting, photosensitivity has subsided but I'm still paranoid because I feel like my skin feels tender in the sun even for brief periods. I thought maybe sunblock might have been t
  14. Hello everyone... I have just started to take Minomycin which was reccomended from my GP (Two 50mg tablets daily so, = 100mg a day), as i'm starting to get light acne. I'm actually worried about taking medication to get rid of acne as it doesn't seem natural. I was just concerned about the side affects - I have researched the medication but i'd like some personal experiences. When i stop taking the medication would the light acne come back worse and stronger? As i'm still developing (u
