  1. So this isn't relevant to acne but it is a cosmetic issue I've always had trouble dealing with. My lips chap very easily, maybe because they're very full? I'm not sure why. I know some people have these problems due to Accutane or other drugs but I've never used that. I make certain never to lick them, and apply a Burt's Bees honey based lip balm often. Still I get huge flakes on my bottom lip. I've also tried exfoliating with sugar. That seems to work temporarily too. I also know dehydration ca
  2. I'm around 80 days into my 6 month course of Accutane, while the spots seem to be calming down, I'm worried about the dryness of the skin. I have quite a few red marks from previous breakouts that will, no doubt, fade with time when I finally stop breaking out. I've been getting severely dry skin that is peeling recently, however the last time I tried to moisturise, I broke out crazily! After using the Cetaphil moisturiser for 3 days, I'd had enough and stopped using it and like magic, spots cal
  3. It's been a few weeks since I last updated this blog, so be prepared for a long one! Right now, without hopefully jinxing it, I have no actives on my face!! It's by no means clear however, unfortunately still some quite persistent lumps from previous spots that just won't go down . I also have A LOT of hyperpigmentation and a few scars so definitely not looking clear by any means. But I honestly can't believe this right now, after just 4 weeks I've reached a point where I am going a good few
  4. I thought it might be nice to have a thread where us accutane-ers can share our experiences with different lip balms. I mean, it's the one thing we all have in common now right? An unusual interest in lip balms! (I did search for something similar before starting this, but if I just missed it let me know!) These are mine. Please add yours (even if the product has already been mentioned) and we'll see if anything emerges as a winner! Maybe this way we can save some people some money by avoidin
  5. I've had chapped lips since before puberty. I actually don't take Accutane but I thought I'd ask here since I know dry lips are a side effect. Years ago dermatologists told me that I should stop using Blistex and Chapstick and switch to Aquaphor instead. I love it, but I don't think it really does much long term. I also have a problem with peeling. Started reading yesterday that petrolatum should be avoided - which is in most products. Sounds like I should switch to something with just
  6. In preperation to starting Accutane my dermatologist told me to stop using topical creams to prevent drying and peeling of the skin because while on Accutane your skin can become very sensitive and dry. So basically I've been using Cetaphil Gentle Face Wash and Cetaphil Lotion for Dry, Sensative skin. He also gave me smaples of the CeraVe face cleanser and lotion but I already have the Cetaphil ones and like them. I also have a Clarisonic that I use once a day to remove my makeup. I am
  7. Hi guys. I started Accutane close to 1 month recently and have been experiencing dry lips and angular cheilitis. I actually have both of them before i even started Accutane but it was manageable but recently its getting worst due to Accutane. May i ask how do people who took Accutane cope with them? What lip balm do you use for your excessive dry lips? and what medicine for angular cheilitis? I did try the hydrocortisone 1% cream but it did not work, same as the steroid cream my derma gave me. C
