  1. This thread is for differin users to share and support each other whilst going through treatment. I am currently completing Week 8 and the experience has been both terrifying and challenging mentally and emotionally. I have had clear skin all my life until a few months ago when I broke into white comedones specifically on my left cheek. Understanding the science on how differin works (hence, the IB) and actually dealing with it week after week is completely two different things. I felt like I
  2. Today marks a new chapter in my acne journey with PCOS. I have found this forum incredibly helpful throughout my decision-making/research process and would like to contribute as well. Let's call this a little experiment shall we... To begin, a bit of backstory: I started getting acne when I was seventeen years old due to fluctuating hormones and diet (isolated to my forehead thankfully). However, upon cleaning up my diet by eliminating processed junk foods and sugar, I was fine in a year or so
  3. Hi! I have created this post to share my experience with Epiduo for anyone who is currently undergoing treatment or is thinking about starting on Epiduo! Before I begin, let me tell you a bit about myself. My acne history: I am a 19 year old female who has extremely oily skin. Acne for me started a few months after I turned 16. As the years progressed, my acne exacerbated from mild to moderate. I had tried many OTC products to help initially, however none sufficed. My acne is cystic, I have s
  4. Hi! I created this personal log for myself to keep stuff on track and keep myself up to date. The road to perfect skin! (Or die trying!) Background info: I've had acne since 7th grade. I am now 14 and male. My skin is naturally oily. I have acne on my forehead, hairline, neck, mouth, and chin. It is definetely not severe however it is noticeable up close. I look and almost completely clear a couple feet away, but terrible up close. I do have bangs so I hide my worst region (my forehead) with t
  5. This is my first post. so hello everyone! I am 23 years old and have been dealing with acne since high school, i have tried almost every topical, pill, otc, prescription, diet, and home remedy you can think of. I am 5'4" and weigh 110lbs. I am just looking for support, advice, and comments as I go through this accutane journey. I am 19 days in and will be on accutane for a total of 5 months. During the first week of 40mg my skin was doing well, it seemed to clear up a little bit and the oil was
  6. Hi people! I was 18 and prescribed Accutane by my dermatologist in Montréal, Québec. He gave me 40mg for 6 months. What a journey! I had very dry lips. Other than that, not too much. Dry skin and occasional nose bleeds, but the dry weather didn't help. I put on lotion and sesame oil for my nose and it's all good! It's been 6 months since I've been off Accutane. My acne has cleared up, but I still receive infrequent pimples here and there. I'm for any questions or concerns! Thanks for rea
  7. Day 3 of acne.org regimen My skin before I started the regimen was somewhere between moderate to severe acne. I would get sensitive pimples, but I never had a problem with cysts. I have had acne since I was 15 and it gradually got worse spreading to every part of my face. I am now 20 and after I stopped taking my birth control my face exploded. Super red and bumpy. So sad too because it really was showing signs of clearing. I am back on birth control and have been for a month. There has only b
  8. DAY 19. Hey guys, whats up! So i'm currently on day 19 of roaccutane on 20mg a day. I'll just get straight into it. Side effects: Dry lips Dry skin Breakouts That's it! My face doesn't look too much better, my cysts have decreased in size and most are almost gone, and i have probably 4 active whiteheads at the moment, some on my jaw and the others on my chin and around my lips, with a few about to come to surface. I have blistex for my lips but it seems to sting more than it helps
  9. Hey guys! Okay, so I want to start blogging my skin journey. I'm currently a senior in high school and it wasn't until this year when my skin decided to flare up. I have some pretty bad acne on my forehead, chin, and the right side of my cheek. When my skin first decided to break out I tried to not let it bother me and I would walk out the door and go to school no problem. I attend an all girls school so I don't really have energy to put on cover up in the mornings (plus its not the best for my
  10. Right I've been on this drug for 1 week now, and my experience has changed drastically over such a short period of time. In the first few days I noticed the side effects of dry skin, eyes and lips- but these were very minimal. A few days later, the lips are not really an issue, but my skin! that is a different story altogether. Whenever I apply my cleanser it stings like a [email protected]^%# and likewise when I leave applying moisturiser for too long. My forehead is very raw in comparison with the rest of my
  11. Hola! Oops I hope everyone is having a fantastic day today. I have a confession to make... today I did the unthinkable and ate at Ihop. Now I know what you are thinking, "why would you do that? It's practically acne-land in a box," and I knew that but my mom really wanted to go there and I figured I could chose a decent meal. I ended up eating french toast! I know, I messed up BIG TIME. Not only does this contain loads of sugar but also dairy, which is exactly what I said I would avoid. Moral
  12. I'll be going into my fourth week of Accutane tomorrow and side effects are already heavily present. I already struggled with dry lips before this and its just been multiplied now. Just before being prescribed i was getting my skin to where I wanted it ( with moisturizer not as far as acne ) and now I struggle with the flakes everyday. Before starting accutane I was on Doxycycline and Tretinoin for a few months and they just weren't doing anything for my skin. I went back to the derm and saw a d

    Day 4

Day 4 - Saturday 3rd February 2018 Took 2 x 20mg pills with breakfast. Breakout around my chin is still there but whereas usually the spots would be very swollen and sore for around 3/4 days, they have actually near enough disappeared bump wise, leaving only red marks. I have one very large cystic spot on the side of my nose which is still the size of a mountain however! I feel really crappy today, tired, achey, headache is hanging around and my joints in my legs are aching (not sure if flu
  14. Hello, I am a 19 year old female. On July 21st 2017, I was put on Spiro, at 100 MG a day. I take Nuva Ring Birth Control with it. I have struggled with moderate to severe acne since age twelve. A very brief history on my acne, I tried every OTC product that exists and three step system. I tried Bactum antibiotic and a topical prescription in High School. I had persistent and moderate acne for four or five years. It really destroyed my social life, self esteem, and put me into a deep depression
  15. I'm on month 1.5 of accutane however ill be backtracking with the photos i have to show the extent of my acne and what worked for me. and highlight some issues with the nhs. This photo if one of the only ones i have and is me in my summer exams revising sending a stupid selfie to my mates. I had just lost a friend in an accident had glandular fever and had my summer exams approaching so it definitely points my condition to have been caused as an response. As you can see this is where my

  17. In an effort to go gentle on my skin, for the last 10 days I have used the sulfacleanse every other night and I have taken the doxycycline once a day. This was to allow my skin to adjust to these products before introducing the adapelene gel, the strongest of the medications. Today will be day 1 of my FULL regemen inculding the adapelene. So far, over the past 10 days I havent really noticed my acne reducing in amount, but mostly a reduction in the overall redness of my skin. So thats what

    Week 3

I think my skin has become accustomed to the Epiduo as it doesn't sting when I apply it any more and my overall skin tone is less red. I've had no side-effects from the Lymecycline thus far. I'm still getting new spots, but less than I normally do.

    Week 2

This week my skin continued to be irritated by the Epiduo, but I started applying heaps more moisturiser (simple, rich) which seems to help. I had a few whiteheads during the course of the week, but not as many as I would normally get. My skin looks very red, but it does feel smoother.
  20. Okay, so I'm now on day 15 and there are definite changes showing now!!! My lips are always chapped, which is annoying if I don't have a chapstick with me at all times. My skin is less oily, more red, and really dry around my nose and cheeks. I've gotten quite a few pimples this week as well, which don't seem to be too bad. My skin is more sensitive as well, it's easier to accidentally pop a pimple which has been happening. I don't see any improvement yet, but I didn't really expect to in th
  21. I’ve had severe acne SINCE I WAS 10 YEARS OLD (not even exaggerating). My parents have paid thousands on creams and such while growing up to get rid of my acne and nothing would ever help bc unfortunately I have severe acne from my genetics ): But I started accutane 40mg/day and I’m currently 3 months on it. My skin has never been clearer.
  22. From the album: Accutane journey in pictures

Still chronic acne and very dry skin (including eyebrow and scalp dandruff)
  23. Hi, im begining my accutane journey tommorow and will be keeping a journal so i can keep track of my progress and results. Im going on a low dose of 10mg to lessen the side effects. I will also be doing heavy lifting and strength trainning while on the drug. To begin, ive had acne since the 8th grade. It began to get worse and worse. I started by taking benzol peroxide which did help but didnt solve my problem. I then went ahead and tried tretinoin. This helped but also didnt cure. Ant
  24. Well after many failed treatments and scarring/hyperpigmentation I am finally on the "Accutane train". I started my treatment on May 12th 2015 and it is now June 26th so I am a little late on the log but better late than never right!? Here's what has happened so far. I am a 18 y/o male and weigh 165lbs or 75kg. I started on 40mg of Clavaris (Accutane) a day along with 2 200 mg a day of Bactrim. Week 1- Dryness occured but it's good because my skin was REALLY oily.
  25. Changed "The Truth" to a journey, since I'm discontinuing it. Summary Basically, I had cystic acne, but finally cleared my skin by eating only eggs and oatmeal for like 2 weeks after getting results back from a skin prick test. Here are those results: Now, these results weren't very accurate and didn't test for enough foods. But oats and carrots and wheat were spot on. Mediator Release Test Now, I didn't get it yet! I'm saving money so I can order it from Florida for $495 U.S. I
