  1. I had a small breakout on both my weeks this week but I think it has to do with the fact that I’m during ‘that’ time of the month. There was one huge one on my left cheek to that was so painful and it was blind too which makes it worse! Eyes and lips extremely dry to the point that I have to put in eyedrops a couple times a day to refresh them and I put on caramex at least 20 times a day!!
  2. Hello to all, I'm 21 years old and I have been battling with acne since I was 12 years old. Back then, I only had one huge pimple that would surface and when I say huge, I mean extremely large and filled with gunk. People in my school would wait until after school while they were leaving in their cars to call me the most hurtful nicknames that they could. The most hurtful nickname was "rats nest,” and still till this day it has stuck in my head. Also, I remember being in class when I guy su
  3. SO This is the fourth week into the process... As like my other posts I will break down this blog. SIDE AFFECTS: DRY LIPS AND FACE. I recently picked up this cerave moisturizing lotion and its like white goo. It works wonders. It works even better than than the medical moisturizer the derm prescribed. VERY DRY EYES RECENTLY. I've been noticing my eyes are extremely dry and they would water if I didn't put at least two drops of eye drops in each eye. In the hallway I would walk and it would
  4. 2 WEEKS IN.. Like in my last post I will be breaking this one down into parts. SIDE AFFECTS: Pretty much the same but getting slightly dryer as time goes on. I haven't had any more nosebleeds and the joint pain has gone down. My lips are very dry and I feel myself always having to apply lip balm or they will hurt. My face is peeling a little bit but that's just because my skin is so dry. My body is not that dry yet. HOW MY SKIN IS LOOKING: I think my skin is definitely purging because I've
  5. Day 1 - I am starting of at a low dosage of 10mg/day as told by my dermatologist. I just took my first pill right after a heavy meal as I heard heavy meals help the pill to absorb better. My routine consists of gentle cleansing, toner, and moisturizer day and night. I will wear a cc cream with SPF 50 if I go out. Day 2 - I have not experienced any side effects, nor has there been any change in my acne. My friends tell me to try rubbing raw potato on my skin, as it can help clear acne fast
  6. Hard to imagine this was the end result. This is what dedication can bring!
  7. Skin Condition Per usual, my skin looks the least red in the morning Lots of acne marks still on my cheeks, no surprise The pimples on my lip continue to shrink and dry out The three tiny whiteheads on my chin have reappeared despite popping them so I guess thats a sign not to do that again I actually woke up with what i would describe as slightly OILY skin. Wow. Thats the first time that has happened since I started this treatment. It wasnt gross oily, but like, he
  8. On my last blog , I said that my skin is super oily and didn't itchy at all ! But guess what happened ? It was starting to get itchy on day 2 and today (12/5/2016-day 3) it was like hell to me. My skin was completely dried and itchy like hell. I have to go to school and I had to suffer tried so hard not to scratch or even touch my skin. I didn't know whether to use the moistreriser or not whenever my skin felt tried ?. another thing that came to me is the enourmous pore. Before i started to

    Day 5

Day 5 - Sunday 4th February Took 2 x 20mg pills after brunch. Skin has some dry patches on it, not sure if that is the accutane or its the spot cream that I have applied. Spot on side of my nose squeezed again this morning, few other little sore bumps around my chin and lower cheeks, but nothing major, will have to see if they turn into their usual big and sore selves. Feeling crappy still today but thinking I have a throat infection or tonsillitis, my mum read somewhere that accutane lowe
  10. Oh man, how happy am I that week 3 showed a vast improvement! So, I'm still suffering from mood swings - but I can mostly attribute that to my past history with taking medication, as my body isn't used to having this sort of stuff in my system. Plus, I have had a slight issue with mood before taking Roaccutane so I'm not super worried about that. My lips are finally healing! Hallelujah, they were looking very worrying all last week so I'm glad using the right treatment has helped. In te
  11. My dosage has been upped to 60 mg per day, so two 30 mg tablets each day! I'm super excited to up my dosage because I just want to get better as soon as possible! My skin is still dry and my lips still chapped, but other than that not really noticing any other side effects. Excited to see what 60 mg will bring! Not so many pimples are popping up as well, which is making me notice my scars a whole lot more. So that sucks, but hey, hopefully new ones will stop forming! Does anyone know good s
  12. Hi guys so I'm really enjoying this idea of me blogging everyday on my skin, its very relaxing for me and its a nice way for me to unwind at the end of the day! Progress: So today I woke up and it was my time of the month, sorry if this is TMI but I thought I'd add it becayse usually around this time I'd get a few more breakouts. I surprisingly didn't have a huge pimple anywhere, but i did notice a 2 or 3 tiny pimples on my forehead but theyre tiny, barely noticeable Also the big under the sk
  13. Today was my 1 month check up. My liver function was elevated since last time... that makes me a little nervous. They didn't really say too much about it and all I saw on the sheet was that it said +40 ? I still got my prescription for this month I'm just praying it isn't eleveated too much and I can continue to take this for the full 5 months. Today my derm gave me 6 shots of cortisone. 5 in some larger nodules and 1 in my lip? The corner of my lip is really cracked so she gave me a cortiso

    Day 11

Day 11, oddly enough my side effects seem to have improved rather than gotten worse? Has this happened to anyone else? This worries me. My dry eyes that were terrible just 2 days ago are now manageable, my dry nose is barely bothering me at all and my dry lips are mild compared to what they were 2 days ago. I know I should probably be extrememly happy but i'm more concerned that it isn't working as well? As far as acne goes I've gotten another little white head on my jaw line... nothing ma
  15. I’m sorry But I can’t get over how great my skin looks on this week! I think I had not seen my skin so clear for a verg long time. Side effects are all the same, now my hands are becoming very dry and the dryness of my lips is only getting worse.

    Day 1

As you can see I have moderate acne, I will get maybe 5 cysts a year. I usually wake up to 2 new pimples every week which leave very bad hyper pigmentation that will last for more then 6 months. I am lucky in that I do not get bad acne on my forehead, back, and chest. I get all of my acne on my cheeks and recently it has been leaving ice pick scars, that is when I got serious about tackling my acne. Today is my first day taking 40mg, and the one thing I am nervous about is dry lips and eyes beca
  17. So I just typed this long essay looking like blog entry and turns out i wasn't signed in so it deleted the whole thing. That was a bummer but I'll TRY and keep it short and sweet. Hi, my names Gia and I'm 14. I've been struggling with acne since the 3rd grade and I'm now in the 9th grade. Its a battle I've been fighting for my whole life and something needed to be done. I'm not gonna go into my whole sob story because this blog is not about that. My acne I would say is mild-moderate. It ge
  18. Hey everyone! This post is really long, but it's my first, so bear with me! So, I'm finally starting Accutane after literally years of putting it off (which I will get into later). I decided to start this blog because I personally was very skeptical of the drug and struggled with the idea of taking for a long time, and I know there are many others out there that feel the same way. I figured if I shared my journey then it may put others at ease, and I also want something to be able to track my p
  19. This week I started my 4th pack of Yasmin and it's the first time that it didn't broke me out at all (not complaining about the one teeny tiny spot I got) like it used to do while starting a new pack. My face hasn't been pimple-free since ages. Yasmin has work wonders for me so far. My periods are the most regular they have ever been. It hasn't done a lot to prevent my excessive hair growth, but the doc told me that I'll probably see difference after a couple more months of using the pill.

    Week 4

This week I had a moderate breakout on the right side of my face. Nothing worse than I normally have, but still upsetting. I haven't really had any active acne on the left side of my face all week, just lots of red hyperpigmentation. I took pictures this morning and I think my skin looks slightly better in real life. Although my skin is still very red, my make-up goes over a lot smoother. The skin on the left side of my face looks almost completely smooth with foundation, and the only problem wi
  21. I have become a hermit due to how bad my skin is - I know it's shallow but I cannot lead a normal life nor socialise whilst my confidence is so low. I have developed 7 major spots which have developed into scabs - tempted to give up the accutane but I know an initial breakout is normal. Did anyone else experience this? Have severe dandruff and very dry skin and lips - only on 20mg so god knows how I will handle it if my dermo instructs me to go on a higher dose. When I was first prescribed th
  22. My acne still seems to be the exact same it was when I started this medication a week ago, but early days I guess. I was getting ready to go out earlier and realised I had eyebrow dandruff!!!!! Exfoliated and moisturised (with aveeno) and seems to be managed (for now). Skin flaking off on cheeks, chin and inbetween eyebrows. I still have some colour left on me from summer so now my arms are all blotchy where my tanned skin has peeled off and showing the paler colour of me. Looking at the end r
  23. Day one: Got my blood test done today. That's what my biggest fear was going on accutane, and it wasn't even that bad! Took my first pill December 16th, 2013. My dosage is at 30mg a day, wish me luck!

    Start Of Week 3

Starting week 3, my acne has imporved significantly. Still no IB and really hoping it stays that way. As far as symptoms go, my dry lips are terrible. Cracks in the corner, hard to eat and hard to brush my teeth without bothering the cracked corners. I've been switching on and off all day and night between aquaphor and caramex, sometimes both at the same time... anything for some relief!! My dry eyes are a little better, been using artificial tears 5-6 times a day and that has been helpi
  25. I went back to the dermatologist today and she told me that my red bumps on my face was my skins reaction to the super dry skin, bumpy eczema. So we stop my accutane at the lower end of my final dosage, with the fear the the eczema on my face would get worse and do more damage to my skin. I've been off the medicine since Tuesday but still super dry ! The photo attached in from Tuesday , the day I stopped the medicine.
