  1. So I had my first dermatologist appointment last week. Long story short, it was a total of maybe 6 or 7 minutes (I swear) he was rather nice actually. He prescribed me Isotrexin - a mix of Isotretinoin and erythromycin. Unfortunately there was a lot of confusion with this gel and it took me a week to get it plus they gave me the wrong one - Isotrex. Isotrex is just a gel with Isotretinoin 0.05%. Its a retiniod (vit A derivative) and apparently less irritating but less 'superior' than Tret
  2. I was considering posting daily pictures but I thought it would be more effective if I shared them weekly- that way if there's any form of improvement it'll probably be more noticeable. Besides, there's probably only so many shots of my flaky, red chin that a human can handle! I'm not going to photograph the acne on my forehead either because the pimples are small, closed comedones, which I can deal with in comparison to my hot mess of a jawline! Yesterday evening I came home to see that th
  3. I'm disappointed. I don't know what I should do to defeat acne. It's the 7th week of Isotrex (topical isotretinoin ) in combination to Benzoyl Peroxide 10% (that I use in the morning).. I have been fighting with acne since September 2012. Now I'm annoyed. I still have breakouts , I still have red marks and red inflamed pimples and now breakouts are just happening also on the other part of my face. I'm waiting, I have been using it EVERY DAY with costance. Why my acne is still worse?? I will bo
  4. Ok guys .. so I'm on my second week of tretinoin and my skin just gets WORSE AND WORSE and I'm crying everyday and not going out anymore . I don't have much drying anymore . I have deep cysts with no head on my left cheek . Please help and comment if you think anything can help .. I'm desperate do you think I should go on Accutane ? Or continue the retin a cream ? Or try something else ? Thank you guys so much
  5. Hi, Can I use both Isotrex and BP (10) at once in the evening? Thanks
  6. I got prescribed isotrex 30g 0.5% gel and I've been using it since Tuesday (18th) and it's been fine up until now! I put it on this morning and my face is burning, (not stinging, burning). My skin is sensitive as it is, and I don't want to have to deal with bad super sensitive skin again. I was just wondering if this was normal or not? I use it 2 a day. Thanks
  7. I've had bad acne down the sides of my face which started about 5 months ago and has been getting worse since then. My dermatologist recently prescibed me isotrex to use in the morning and epiduo to use in the evening, along with tetralycil antibiotics. I've been using these for 4 days and my skin has gotten really red and irritated. Is it too much to use isotrex and epiduo every day?
  8. Introduction Quite new to all of this, so I'll start of by introducing myself - I'm Daniel and 18 years old. Evidently by embarking on this blog, I'm sure you've guessed I've had an uphill battle with acne, roughly since the onset of puberty. A bit about my background is that I'm of African heritage, Nigerian to be specific and born and bred in England, I've researched a bit into the epidemiology of acne relating to ethnicity, and I'm aware there are certain things my skin type is more prone to
  9. Hey guys I've been using differin 0.1% cream on my face and upper arms for a month. Differin is improving my face but has not made any significant difference on my upper arms. So I went to the doctor and asked him for a stronger retinoid, and he suggested isotrex 0.05% gel (topical isotretinion). Would it be dangerous to use differin on my face, but isotrex on my arms? also, does isotrex leave any permanent changes to the body and/or applied section (since roaccutane does)?
  10. So I've attached a picture depicting how flat my outer cheeks look after using isotrex for around a month and a half now. My forehead, t zone and chin are all bumpy still however. But my skin IS improving. I've been using nip fab glycolic cleanser for a few weeks too, which is fabulous and apparently good for closed comedones as it contains just 2% glycolic acid. However - I always see improvements around this time of year. My thoughts are either this is due to the weather change, as tempe
  11. UPDATE WEEK 4! POSITIVE NEWS! So in the last week, I have seen slight differences in the condition of my skin. Arguably, it is too quick to judge whether this is due to the isotrex or another factor such as improving weather possibly? However, the most stubborn patch of acne on my cheek which had been persistent for around 3 months has flattened! Redness remains and has possibly worsened but I see this as positive, as cysts are no longer as inflamed, they are closer to just being scars or post
  12. This is my skin at the moment I've been on isotrex and minoxycelline for just over a week. I'm upset and I can't deal with this anymore. This is my first time with acne. My skin has been like this for about 2 weeks. What do you guys think!
  13. Hi there. I've been on isotrex for just over a week now and I know that you are meant to peel during the progress. Anyways was wondering , in the morning does it matter if you peel it off or should I wait until I wash it off? Does it have any major effect if peel some of it of myself ?
  14. Hi I was on yasmin contraceptive pill 2 years ago when I was 18 and it cleared my skin up completely (I didn't have a skin problem at the time) I was on it for about 3 months or so. Now 20 I went back on it and I've been on it since the start of November I think and It hasn't cleared the acne that I just got! I went docs n they say I have high levels of androgen but they think it was the stress I had. Do u think the yasmin did this to my skin even though it cleared it once before? And even w
  15. So, there are some news. In accord to what my doctor said, I'm using topical isotretinoin and benzoyl peroxide on alternate nights (one night isotrex, the next one benzoyl peroxide). On February 10 I have a visit with my doctor.. I CAN'T WAIT. The situation is the same, some days I have new pimples and the redness is a little bit less, but it's here. Red marks are the same, and the initial breakout worsened only the situation, because I'm still worse than before starting to use isotrex. Ther
  16. Today is a mixed bag. I don't want to jinx myself but I THINK that I'm getting over my initial breakout. Nothing new came to the surface overnight- no nodules, no pustules, nothing. My face is continuing to look less red and angry, and the five pustules on the right hand side of my skin have shrunk a little bit. In fact all the spots on my face at the minute look a little bit drier and a little bit smaller. I am, however, very well acquainted with all kinds of false hope and I've been told the p

    Acne Week #1

Hello lovelies, So I've suffered with acne for about four years now and after countless treatments, this is how my face stands: I have spots/acne on my chin, lower cheeks and jawline, with the odd few on my forehead I have considerably bad acne scars on my chin and cheeks I have slightly enlarged pores on my nose and cheeks I have blackheads on my nose, although not too severe I've recently found myself feeling really down because of my skin, and treatments that I'd been using had stopped
  18. Every day is a battle. Every day there is a new pimple, every day my skin is dry , every day my skin is worse. I'm thinking to stop Isotrex (topical isotretinoin) and to continue only with Benzolait 10 (Benzoyl peroxide 10%) and at least to take a topical antibiotic like erythromycin.. But I want to see a doctor (I will change my actual doctor) to not do mistakes. They are almost 9 weeks that I use isotrex+benzoyl peroxide BUT NO IMPROVEMENT. Should I wait? I will see a doctor in February. I
  19. So, I've been using Topical Isotretinoin (Isotrex gel 0,05%) and Benzoyl Peroxide 10% (Benzoilat 10 Emulgel) Things ARE NOT better. I'm still worse than before the use of isotrex (I have been using benzoyl peroxide since 1 year ago, so it was isotrex that gave me this breakout) SO I HAVE NOT IMPROVEMENT. (I remember you that I use isotrex in the night and benzolait in the morning) Should I still wait?? I will book a visit to my doctor as near as I can. However, I'm also thinking to change d
  20. I had really bad acne and about 3 months ago my doctor prescribed me dianette contraceptive pill and zineryt topical treatment, now my acne has completely cleared up but my skin is still covered in red and brown acne marks where my spots were, it is not acne scarring where it is indented just marks where the spots once were, I went to my doctor and asked for Retin-a as I had heard it was good for acne scarring as it sped up cell renewal or something, the doctor said they did not have retin
  21. I have suffered from severe acne and Rosacea since April 2014. Thanks to God, it has lessened by now. I have always suffered from mild acne since puberty. I became 19 this year and my acne took a horrible form. It only affected my face. I started my regime from 30th March and still am continuing. I started using ISOTREX GEL on cleaned face after using HIMALAYA NEEM FACE WASH and taking DOXYCYCLINE twice a day. My initial break out stage lasted for exactly 6 weeks. Then thanks to God, it started
  22. Hi, I'm new here and I'd really appreciate some thoughts on a question I have! Ok - here's the deal. I used Retin A 0.025% for a couple of years (for the last year with antibiotics) and it worked reasonably well. It was then discontinued in the UK so I was put on Differin which did bugger all! I've now been prescribed Isotrex gel (0.05% topical isotretinoin) which I'm thinking will act in much the same way at the Retin A! I've been using the Isotrex for a week now, and have seen a slight
  23. So I started using isotrexin gel (isotrexin gel 30g Erythromycin 2% + Isotretinoin 0.05%) and a retinol cream (Retimax 1500 30g 0.25%). What I would do is in the day I would apply the retinol cream then before I go to bed I would wash my face with a cleanser then apply the isotrex gel and go to sleep. Am I damaging my skin by using both of these? There's no damage/side affects that I could see besides the usual initial breakout. But I still would like to know just in case sh*t gets worse! (A
  24. Hi peeps, I started Spironolactone today on a dose of 25mg per day. It is not a lot but my GP recommended to try a small dose to see if the medication agrees with me, and then work it up to a higher dose. Ideally, I would like to be on 50-75mg depending on how it works for me then use lower maintanance doses once the acne and sebum has settled down. I am aware some people may require 100mg or even more, so will keep that in mind. I don't like the idea of being on tablets for anything, bu
  25. Hii, Can you purchase the regimen from the UK? I have very oily and mild acne *see images* skin, I have tried several products from the doctors and also over the counter. I am currently on Isotrex and Tetralysal from the derm, I currently use Simple branded soap and Simple moisturiser in the morning and Isotrex in the night. Getting depressed is on and off at times x
