  1. I'm male and 17 years old. I've been on 40 mg a day for the past 6 months and finish the course next week. Will my skin continue to get better, or is this the best it can be? When my other friends finished their course they had completely clear skin, but I still have lots of red marks (almost looks like spots under skin) although my face is completely smooth. (See photo) If my skin won't improve further naturally, is there anything I can do to improve it?

Weeks 6 Through 7 (Almost 2 Month Mark)

Hey guys! I'm so glad to be getting some feedback on this blog from you! I am more than willing to answer any and all questions you wanna ask me, so please never hesitate to leave comments! Anyways, I'm approaching my last week of month 2 and I'm starting to see some real results...hooray! After increasing my dosage to 60mg, I did experience another initial breakout which was a bit disheartening but totally normal. As of now, my forehead is a bit of a war zone again but below my eyebrows

    3 Month Mark

Hi readers, I apologize for not updating in awhile, but I hadn't had much change to write about until now. I just entered my 4th month on Zenatane and have noticed a few new things. First off, my skin is about 99% clear right now! Its a wonderful feeling to be able to just walk outside without any makeup on and feel confident. I have noticed some minor scaring and a few very tiny ice pick marks but I am trying not to be too concerned about them because I know isotretenoin can make scars more
  4. Hey guys! I used to go on this site quite frequently but over the years lost touch with the community. After battling cystic acne for the past 10 years I have finally taken the plunge and started Accutane. I created a new account to document my journey on a blog here. Anyway, I noticed there wasn't too much information out there on user's experiences of drinking and/or doing recreational drugs while taking Accutane. I know the warning is that you should not drink more than 2 alcoholic bevera

    My Accutane Diary

Hi, I'm 20 years old, dealing with mild to moderate acne for about 7 years now. Tried many topical and antibiotics, birth control pill is the only one to make a difference but it comes with too many side effects for me so finally got put onto Accutane. Started last week on 20mg a day. I will be on 20mg for 2 weeks after which I will go up to 40mg until my next appointment with the dermatology nurse on the 1st June. Week one - I've been ill and so I don't know if some of the changes I've be
  6. Ok, so here goes. I just turned 27 last week, which means I am not willing to have horribly bad skin all over my face anymore and accept the terrible scars that already shows on most of my face. I want to live a life, where I can leave my apartment without make up on. Where I can say hi to people without considering if my cysts show again. And where I can no longer peel dead skin off my face, because it's so oily underneath that it never heals. I know this new relationship will be hard. Nobod
  7. Hey everyone!! I finished a 5 month long therapy on Accutane this past November. Now I am looking to get a laser tattoo removal and wondering if anyone has advice on the matter? Im terrified of scarring because its in a noticeable spot. Has anyone had tattoo laser removal after taking Accutane? And if so, how long did you wait til after being off the meds? thanks so much!!
  8. I have been on accutane for 2.5 months now. 20mg for the 1st month. 30mg for the 2nd month. and i am currently on 50mg now, for the last 2 weeks. I am now on holiday in spain and will be for the next to weeks but i have developed blisters on the corners of my mouth as well as dry, red scaly skin around my mouth with red bumps/spots and is very sore. It is particularly painful when i open my mouth. After research, i believe this is perioral dermatitis but am unsure what to do as i am abroad and c
  9. hi I don't know if anyone else has experienced this before but all of sudden about two days ago I woke up and my whole face especially my chin and cheeks war covered with small spots all over and there are some that are even bigger. Some look like white heads and some don't. I'm really really worried and getting depressed about this does anyone know why this might happen ? Oh and the spots are so painful and bumpy. thanks a million
  10. I've had acne down the sides of my face for about 5 months, which has been getting worse. My dermatologist prescribed me isotrex to use in the morning and epiduo in the evening, as well as tetralycil. I've been using it for 4 days, and my acne has only gotten worse and my skin is very red, painful and irritated. Is it too much for me to use isotrex and epiduo in one day?

    8 DAYS TIL THE 'TANE

SUP YALL. So I start Accutane at 40 mgs in a little over a week. I AM SO EXCITED. UGHHHH. No one could talk/scare me out of it at this point... and here's why: During my acne struggles I have tried all of the following: Topicals- Sulfacetimide Tretenoin (.025%) Finacea Aczone Epiduo Forte Benzoyl Peroxide Salicylic Acid Oral- Minocycline Doxycycline Yaz Spironolactone (literally the devil in a pill i think lol idk) Bactrim DO YOU GET IT NOW?! OK COOL. So here's the cu
  12. What do you use as a face wash and moisturizer while on Accutane? Do you use anything else on your face? I just finished month 1 of 40mgs and have had such a hard time finding a good face wash. My skin is so irritated and I feel like it is contributing to more breakouts. Today at my one month check up I am going to get suggestions from my derm and post them here too. But your routine would be greatly appreciated, especially if you have found success in this drug alongside your regimen! :)
  13. Hi everyone! I'm nearing the end of my 2nd month on Zenatane this week. About two days ago I noticed I started getting a rash up my forearms and the sides of my arms. It's small, red, roughish bumps that are sometimes itchy. I thought it was a reaction to being in the sun a little too long but my dermatologist confirmed it today and said its Eczema. I'm a little freaked out about this. I've never had Eczema before starting accutane and I know it's a normal side effect but it isn't getting better
  14. I have been on a low dose accutane treatment for 2 weeks now. (20mg/day) Last night i drank a lot and did laughing gas at a party, i didn't take the accutane before i went out and am continuing to take it from now on after missing that one night. I feel out of breath with a tight chest and was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences and what happened when they drank alcohol? please let me know what you think.
  15. Hey guys! So I am about to start my final month on accutane and I'm starting to worry about what my skin will be like once treatment ends. I couldn't find a lot of topics already archived that shared many people's experiences of life after accutane. Right now my skin is 100% clear! For the first time in years and I've gotten so much more comfortable with how my face looks without having to worry about people noticing my breakouts. I'm excited to end my treatment so all the side effects will go
  16. So I'm currently on month 2 and started getting constipated. Why exactly I don't know but its certainly the drug. I'm on 40 mg daily. Is constipation a serious side effect? My poop used to come out easily and was healthy looking (gross I know, sorry). But now, it takes me forever and when it comes out its just a bit and has a very loose consistency. Nothing is coming out as of lately. Do I have to stop the medication? Is it a bad sign? So far I had basically 0 side effects except dry lips
