    First Entry

Overall, I don't have too much of a problem with my skin (anymore). I had mild to moderate acne in middle/high school, but a combination of hygiene, birth control pills, and diet have cleared things up pretty well for me. Occasionally, though, I find myself with a bit of cystic acne. Serious cystic acne. Painful, hard bumps that stay for weeks. Sometimes they drain, sometimes they don't. All of the time they are very, very painful and swollen. The last time I suffered from one of the
  2. Hey guys. I'm new here. Anyways, as most of you-- I basically tried EVERYTHING there is to offer in the market but nothing ever worked for me. Ever since I was 10 (which was when I first started having my periods and now I'm 19 nearly 20), I was already experiencing acne breakouts. My mom would send me to the best dermatologist every Saturday in my city 'til I was 13. Constant extraction from the doc. Constant shit on my face and it would never ever stop! So my dermatologist then suggested Ac
  3. A few years ago, I was told by my dermatologist that I needed Kenalog injected on each and every single keloid scar spot on my chest. I was nervous at first because I have a very low tolerance in pain. After a few months of injections once a month, I got sick and tired of it. I realized I was just simply unable to handle the needle pain of each injection. I know I'm a grown man but every single injected spot feels like a knife stabbing my chest. It just hurts really badly. I asked the dermato
  4. I have a small growing keloid on my earlobe... Do I have to get it excised or is it possible to get rid of it through injections?
  5. I have a huge pimple on my nose and it's bugging me like crazy, should I get a cortisone shot or wait it out? (It looks a little bigger in person)
  6. I've had a huge acne cyst on my cheek for about 2 months now so yesterday I went to my dermatologist and had a cortisone injection. I did my research before and read that I would see results in the same day. I woke up this morning and checked it and it doesn't look like anything has happened? Its still red, inflamed, and huge. Should I be concerned??
  7. Got cortisone injections for my cysts today. Sometimes my doctor seems to put the injection a little away from the nodule rather than directly in it? Anyone else have this experience? Will the injection still work?

  9. Okay so basically this nasty cyst thing popped up right under my nose about a week and a half ago and it was huuuuuge...I mean it was probably big enough to land a plane on haha. anyway I had a dermatologist appointment a week after it popped up so while I was there I decided to have her inject it with that steroid stuff because it was so big and so ugly I just wanted it gone. That was my first steroid shot for a cyst, I got it about 3-4 days ago and anyway I'm just wondering if I should be conc
  10. Hi All, I've lurked here for years but haven't ever posted. I got my first ever set of cortisone injections on Thursday afternoon. The dermatologist injected 1 brand new (but small) active cyst and 5 older ones that used to be huge but shrank over time. The old ones have flattened out, but the new one is now enormous. Is this normal? I've never had a lot of faith in dermatologists and this surely does not help.

  12. I was given a cortisone injection for a cystic pimple on my face on Wednesday. It is now Saturday and nothing seems to be happening. The cyst is still the same size and the only change seems to be gross discoloration around the cyst. Is it still too soon to contact my dermatologist? I read somewhere that the cortisone shots are supposed to work within hours and it has been days for me. I'm getting concerned.
  13. Hi! I was wondering if any of you have had something similar (pic attached). The picture lighting doesn't really do it justice but I have a couple old, hardened blackheads (i think??) that have been on my nose for years. They have just stayed there and I really want them gone. Should I get a cortisone injection? I've had cortisone injections before but for actual cysts much larger, on my jawline. I'm hoping it would work for what's on my nose also. Thanks!
  14. Hi.....this is a bit long, but I would appreciate some help if at all possible. So besides one other topic, I've been trying to resist starting new topics, as there seem to be a million new ones every day.But I really wanted someone to help shed some light on this. Because of my extremely weird, dehydrated, crinkly, wrinkly, lined, open-pored orange peel skin texture (with atrophic scarring and a hypertrophic scar) I opted to have Juverderm voluma injected into my cheeks and cheekbones, in
  15. I am considering a cortisone injection to treat my nodular acne as I do not want to be left with scars and want it treated. I have researched the injection and found that it can sometimes result in an indent in the the skin or atrophy to use the correct term, after the injection. My question is, how likely is this side effect, is it rare or common, some facts and figures and statistics would be great and also sources would be appreciated.
  16. So autohemotherapy is a procedure to take a blood from vein and then (if needed to mix it with immune system enhanching medications - homeopathic or antibiotics in severe cases if needed) injecting the blood into a muscle. You can find a lot of information on net about it but I think the basic principle is that the blood is the same biological material so it will not be rejected but the blood will transform after being injected into muscle and enhance immunity and there are many more benefits to
  17. Cortisone Shots for Acne

Nodules and cysts are large acne lesions (5mm or more in diameter) and are both commonly referred to as "cystic acne." These lesions are deep within the skin and are therefore sometimes resistant to topical treatment. Nodules and cysts can last for weeks or even months if left untreated, and can scar. If you have a nodule or cyst and you have a big event on the horizon like prom, your wedding, etc., a cortisone shot...
