  1. Hi, my name is PJ, I'm 24, and I've had severe acne and anxiety for the past 10 years, since I was 14. I've been documenting my healing journey on YouTube for the past 9 months. - http://www.youtube.com/user/HolisticHealthJ - I want to share my story with the acne.org community. If you're a person who feels like you've done everything to try and cure your acne, you've tried all the creams and topicals, you eat really healthy, you get sunshine, you exercise, you do all the things the health guru'
  2. As I said I need to find something better than what I'm now since I'm still breaking out. I've been on topical clindimycin since last December so I need to switch. I see my derm this Friday so I want to come armed with a list of things I'm going to ask about. I know I will ask about being switched from tretinoin cream to gel, don't know which strength. Or even if there is a better thing to use than tretinoin, I'm currently on 0.1% cream by the way. I've tried Differin 0.1% gel and it didn't real
  3. I have this theory, just about two weeks ago I had my Pilonidal abscess ( yes it was infected) of three years, removed. I had it excised and it was left as an open wound to heal as recommended by my surgeon. From this past summer to about January, my cyst was fine and wasn't a hassle at all. Around the same time I got one lower wisdom teeth extracted my Pilonidal cyst got infected, I think it was because I would slump on a plastic chair I have at home for prolong amount of time. My skin was cl
  4. Hello, all! I began eating very clean about 1-2 months ago. I took out gluten, soy, dairy, legumes, and nuts, and basically all processed and refined sugars. I feel that after taking out nuts, (used to drink almond milk everyday) my skin has really improved! It has been a hard two months or so, but I love this natural route so far. Anyway, it was pretty moderate/severe at one point, and I have cried about it a few times the past couple months. This is the only reason I have been so discipline

    Two pimples combined?!!

Hello, on Friday I noticed I was getting two small pimples that looked like they were going to be white heads. By the end of the day the two had become very inflamed and of course combined. I can see the head of each pimple but neither have a white head, yet. Is there anything I can do to calm the inflammation and redness? It has become very painful! Please help!! Thank you,
  6. Hi everybody! I need your help. Since I have found this forum I have used a lot of advice and have noticeably improved my skin after 2 months. I have used BP routine and have managed to get rid of all inflammations and reduce red spots on my face, but I still have problems on my chin. Basically, I get A LOT of white pimples on my chin in places where my beard is not too dense yet (between lower lip and chin). They look kinda like whiteheads, but if you squeeze them gently they easily rele
  7. Hi, I had a smallish pustule on my chin last week, I stupidly popped it too early and it swelled to a phenomenal size. It scabbed over, the inflammation went down gradually, and I left the scab to fall off by itself to reveal a head underneath. I went and popped it easily yet it swelled again, and two days later it is still the same size and is even more red - inflammation from popping a pimple too early has never lasted this long in the past for me, so I am really panicking that this will go

    Dairy

Hi! I was wondering if anyone else noticed a link between their breakouts and consumption of dairy products. It seems that whenever I eat butter, cheese, or anything with milk ingredients in it, I break out a few days later and I notice more inflammation. I had a severe milk allergy when I was a baby, which would only result in throwing up (as far as I know). I was wondering if maybe that sensitivity to dairy is resurfacing? I was also on a 50 day round of doxycycline (antibiotic)...could that h

    Exfoliation Cream?

Anyone know a good cream to exfoliate the face? Does it even help with acne? I get pimple about an inch below my lower lip on each corner of my chin, no where else. Looking to purchase something at wal mart. Thanks

    First Entry

Overall, I don't have too much of a problem with my skin (anymore). I had mild to moderate acne in middle/high school, but a combination of hygiene, birth control pills, and diet have cleared things up pretty well for me. Occasionally, though, I find myself with a bit of cystic acne. Serious cystic acne. Painful, hard bumps that stay for weeks. Sometimes they drain, sometimes they don't. All of the time they are very, very painful and swollen. The last time I suffered from one of the
  11. So my first week of being on 80 mg daily (very first time using accutane) my face actually got more oily. I typically have always had dry skin due to bp washes and all the topical crap is was prescribed through the years, but after a week on tane my face got more oily..idk if this is common or whatnot. I was actually clearing up a bit, but when I started my accutane, I actually did not have many active pimples at that time. On my 2nd week, I seemed to be breaking out with about 4 very minor
  12. Hey guys! I was hoping to just start a convo about acne stories and what has helped you. My acne used to be quite bad and I managed to really clear up my skin by cutting out dairy, going on birth control, and using Retin-A. However, the past month, it's been acting up. Not nearly as bad as it once was before treatment, but more breakouts than I've had since almost a year of mostly clear skin. I really don't mind getting little whiteheads that take a few days to clear up, but I've been getting ba
  13. The last couple of days I have come to the conclusion that I will be Forever Alone forever. I'm too late in the dating game and will never marry and barely have a social life all thanks to acne and some other personal issues I had when I was younger. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to accept this and be content while seeing happy clear skinned people everywhere. Some of us are just cursed.
  14. So, 5 months ago i tried using H&S on my skin (back, waist and shoulder), ( i left it on over night ), several days later, the area around waist and shoulder was badly inflamed. There were a lot of rashes, it was very itchy. Later on i only used H&S in the shower, washed it off after that. Now my skin looks like the attached photos. Does anyone know how to fix those dark areas on my skin ?
  15. i don't know what to do, i really never had anything like that on my skin and i truly want to die. please help me. yesterday i popped a medium-sized pimple on my forehead. i know you're not supposed to do this but the pimple had a clear whitehead and it looked as if it was ready to pop. maybe it was a little bit hard when i touched it but i didn't pay attention to it because it didn't hurt at all like those deep blind pimples do. after i popped it (twice) all the awful stuff came out so i disi

    First Day Of Classes

Today was the first day of classes here at CSU and I can't help but feel upset about how I look right at the moment. So many people tell me that I cannot complain about my acne because it isn't as bad as others, but acne has controlled my whole life and now it's going to control my whole college experience too. This morning I got up for my 9 o'clock class and immediately put makeup on. It's hard enough to brush my teeth in front of the mirror, can you imagine putting makeup on too? Anyw
  17. So about 1.5 weeks ago I bought an ebook called "Annihilate Your Acne: The complete natural guide to consistently clear skin". It's $20 but it's one of the best $20 I've spent. Plus there's a money back guarantee if your acne doesn't clear up. So this book is absolutely amazing. I opened it and couldn't stop reading. It concentrates mostly on oil balances (omega 3 vs. 6) and antioxidants as well as pesticides. It goes through each food group and tells you what is appropriate for acne and
  18. Hi, so for the past few months I've been battling acne scarring/red marks along my jawline, especially my right side. My left side used to be clear, but once I actually started doing things to my face like washing it, it broke out and I have some mild red spots there. The real problem is with my right jawline, as you can see in the pictures. I have some indentation up near the top from when I used to squeeze pimples really hard when i was stressed during my junior year (i'm going to be a freshma
  19. So, I've been on lymecycline for about a year until two weeks ago when I stopped. I had gotten a prescription for spironolactone, which I started at on 20th of October, and because it worked, I felt free to stop the antibiotics. I had no side effects of spironolactone at all, started of at 25mg per day and upped my dose to 50mg per day after a week, which my doctor said I could. Today, my face is pretty clear! Expect for just one or two pimples on my chin that came with my period. I love
  20. Hello. I have decided to post a picture of my condition, as hard as this is for me to post this. I am desperate and at the breaking point. I need advice so badly. I have suffered with acne since I was 12 and I am now 21. I am in tears right now because I was trying to clear up in time for college, and now I only have 2 weeks left until the semester starts. I have been eating very healthy for years, and a few months ago I completely cut out gluten, sugar, dairy, and all processed foods. Basically
  21. Since I went off Accutane (about August 2014) I've been suffering with what I believe is scalp folliculitis. I get very painful red bumps on my scalp, which don't seem to harbor pus, as they don't ooze any kind of liquid when I squeeze them (I don't overdo the squeezing, it's just to test, don't worry), and they don't seem to cause hair loss, since I haven't noticed any hairless zones in my scalp, apart from the typical androgenic balding signs. Usually they last four or five days, at most, and
  22. Hello, to my fellow victims of this terrible plague called acne. I’m not new to acne.org as I have stumbled across these forums on many occasions in the past, but this will be my first ever post. I am a 22 year old guy who suffers from moderate to severe acne specifically and almost exclusively on the chin. Picture someone drawing a triangle from the corners of your mouth down to the sides of your chin. I do occasionally get 1 or 2 above my mouth as well (maybe once or twice a month) but they he
  23. Can you guys please help me understand whats up with my skin and how to resolve it? I had been using jojoba oil but stopped to see if anything changed, but it didnt! Please help! I just wash my face once a day using clean and clear and moisturize and ie pretty much it. Overall my face has a very weird texture as you can see.
  24. Hi, just hoping to get the word out there to the medical and science world. It seems that no one realizes that DIMETHICONE and TRIMETHICONE are REALLLLLLLY horrible for some people's skin. I look it up online and it says safe enough for babies. But I would feel so sorry for any baby who is having the same reaction that I have to these silicones in the creams and moisturizers. Please know, that my own dermatologists just assumed I had rosacea for nearly 20 years. They put me on a daily regim
