  1. (last paragraph sums up everything if you don't want to read it all) i already have a problem with picking at my skin unintentionally, and 2 days ago i tried taking a bobby pin and using it to pop my black heads, my skin was clear besides a few pimples and black heads on my nose. so i took the bobby pin and all i know was that i started popping them at 4am and ended at 3pm (a long time), and my skin was really red and my pores were huge, which i'm guessing is from me scraping at my skin to get
  2. I can't even find the strength to go to college anymore. I have to make my whole family switch tables at a restaurant just so we don't get direct light over our heads that emphasizes every single one of the thousand pimples that I have, and I have to face the ground every time there's sunlight. Everything either hurts or itches or both, everything is red, and people are so rude, they can't even look me in the eye, their sight always wanders around my face. Everyone that meets me thinks they have
  3. So, I recently had a very stubborn zit on my face, and I applied garlic to it. I guess I kept the garlic on for too long, because now there's still a pimple but there is also a bumpy red inflamed patch all around the pimple. Any remedies for garlic burns?
  4. Probably there had been topic like this but here's my story Ever since freaking pubirty my skin gets speckled by tones of pimples:blackheads on nose cheeks, chin ,tiny ones, white heads..name it i have it.i can have them on upper back,sholders,breasts..oily skin -.- my face can go from 1 zit to 100 over night and getting them off is nighmare. Even when it looks like i have none feeling my skin i know there are 10 i can pop & i'm "addicted" to it.how do i get rid off blackheads or tiny one
  5. Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me out and ease the stress from this lump on my cheek bone! On the June 29th before I slept I noticed I had a small lump under the skin and immediately thought it was going to be a large spot, it didn't hurt and as soon as I noticed it I felt it was getting bigger in the short space of 30 minutes. I applied some Lush - mask of Magnaminty to help ease it, but in the morning it had grown an became a nice red colour. Over the next few weeks the redness h
  6. I'm on my 15th week of retina-a 0.05 and what was once hundreds of small under the skin bumps on my forehead are now around 50 under the skin bumps, so thats ok. But the biggest problem is that i am randomly breaking out in big red pimples. Where i get about 7 in a row, which disappear after 2 weeks and then come back later. Should i still be purging? I never used to break out in inflamed, large bumps before, when should i call it quits?
  7. By time I mean like during the weekdays I wake up at 7 a.m. and then do my regimen. So I was wondering if I should wash like every 12 hours so I would wash at 7 p.m. on weekdays. I just thought of doing this since my skin now tends to be a little sensitive in the morning but not at night. Usually I cleanse at 7 a.m. then at 10 p.m. Would this make any difference? Also I bought some witch hazel today for combating irritation, it's 100% natural. http://www.dickinsonsusa.com/products/toners
  8. As I said I need to find something better than what I'm now since I'm still breaking out. I've been on topical clindimycin since last December so I need to switch. I see my derm this Friday so I want to come armed with a list of things I'm going to ask about. I know I will ask about being switched from tretinoin cream to gel, don't know which strength. Or even if there is a better thing to use than tretinoin, I'm currently on 0.1% cream by the way. I've tried Differin 0.1% gel and it didn't real
  9. Exactly How Does Acne Form Now That Scientists Believe It Is Primarily Inflammatory?

In the past, scientists thought that inflammation was one of the last steps in acne development. Here's an abbreviated version of how they used to think it went: First, it was thought, elevated androgen (male hormone) levels caused skin oil (sebum) to be overproduced and skin cells (keratinocytes) to also be overproduced. The combination of these two things clogged pores. Inside these clogged pores sebum got trapped. Acne bacteria (C. acnes), which lives on skin oil, overgrew...
  10. The Role of Inflammation in the Development of Acne

The Role of Inflammation in the Development of Acne There are two major theories of acne formation. The newer theory points to inflammation as the main factor in acne development. The more we learn, the more this theory asserts itself. The traditional theory contends that inflammation plays a much less important role. The more we learn, the more outdated this theory becomes. Research in recent years has led to more scientific support for the newer theory, and to the...
  11. Wound Healing in the Skin

Stage 1: Blood Clotting Stage 2: Inflammation Stage 3: Healing Stage 4: Remodeling Acne Healing The Bottom Line The skin is a complex organ that serves as the body's first protective barrier against the environment. Because the skin is such an important barrier, it must be able to heal itself quickly after an injury, whether the injury is a cut or an acne lesion. The wound healing process is quite complicated. To understand how it works,...
  12. I have some 1500 mg glucosamine tablets, not expired either, and I think I should take some. I've heard that Accutane can be hard on your joints and I've read at a few websites that glucosamine can help your skin (I doubt it though). Also I find myself still using clindimycin lotion because I don't want tons of acne when I hit my initial breakout. I'm thinking that the Dove unscented, sensitive skin bar broke me out before so I'll have to try including it when my skin starts to dry. Finally the
  13. Hi everyone! I am a 20 year old female who never had acne before my sophomore year in college. Then the summer of my sophomore year, I suddenly started getting very large red bumps on my forehead that could not be popped and were painful to squeeze. Squeezing them only resulted in a water-like liquid oozing out. I get them in waves of 5, wait for them to heal, only to have 5 more pop up on my forehead before the previous wave completely disappears. This has been going on for two years. I hav
  14. hi there, i've been so desperate lately because my skin has been getting so bad. i'm going to be 18 years old soon if that's of any importance i've tried so many face washes and masks and everything, yet my skin hasn't gotten a break. i've used humane acne wash for months and literally have seen nothing change, so recently maybe about 3 weeks ago i started using this african black soap and witch hazel toner afterwards and moisturize. i also use this cream that my parents use since my skin is s
  15. Hi, any advice would be much appreciated. I'm a 21 year old female and have been on the combined pill for about 5 years which alone has not been able to clear my acne. I've been using a salicylic acid wash and 5% benzoyl peroxide wash followed with cetaphil moisturiser consistently for a couple of months now and seen some improvement overall (less frequent breakouts and only small whiteheads in general). However the other day I thought I'd try applying my BP without following up with a moistu
  16. Hey guys, this is my first real post on here even though I've been stalking this place for a good while now. I'm a 15yo male and I want to start off by saying I have some of the absolute worst acne I've ever seen. Much worse then most I see on the gallery. It's a combination of cysts/nodules, blackheads, zits and whiteheads. It's super inflamed more than 80% of the time as well.... I tend to have dry skin most of the time but it gets oily too. Currently I'm using a cleanser called derma clear in

  18. I am 26 and have suffered from acne for 12+ years. I originally began with Clinique 's cleansing system back in my teen years, but when the breakouts kept coming I started to see a dermatologist (well... actually three over the years). I have tried every product from retin-a, benzaclin, epiduo, the list goes on... I've had oral medications and eventually turned to accurate which dried my face beyond belief, but did leave it clear for about a year and then that acne began to rear its ugly head on
  19. So I don't know if I have cystic acne or what the hell it is but now it's only in the area under my lips like on the left and side of my chin and it's been there for about 2 years now. I think it's just that for some reason that certain area won't let my damn facial hair come through. I'll get a pimple, 2 or 3 and tell myself okay once these go away I'll be fine and clear and then I literally get a new one as soon as they go away it's pretty interesting. I take doxycycline, which my idiot doctor
  20. Hello. I have decided to post a picture of my condition, as hard as this is for me to post this. I am desperate and at the breaking point. I need advice so badly. I have suffered with acne since I was 12 and I am now 21. I am in tears right now because I was trying to clear up in time for college, and now I only have 2 weeks left until the semester starts. I have been eating very healthy for years, and a few months ago I completely cut out gluten, sugar, dairy, and all processed foods. Basically
  21. I've had blackheads on my nose for 2.5 years now, more or less. They just don't seem to budge, no matter what I do. Most of them are on both sides of my nose, and they are mildly inflamed as well. I've had 8 Salicylic Acid Peels in the past, and it did seem to work to some extent, though it wasn't nearly ample enough. By the way, I do have a very good skin routine, I take supplements, very healthy diet, drink approximately 2-3 litres of water each day, exercise to some extent and sleep
  22. So this has been here now for about a week and about 3 days ago it was nearly gone and I figure it'd pass by by now but it somehow got worse. I took a 5 day break for my doxycycline and with New Years and all I drank a lot and I only usually wash my face w ivory soap once or twice a day but I didn't wash much during this span and now it's at it's worst. I believe bp only makes it redder as I've used it to cover it up when I go out and it's seemed to make it bigger and redder. I also tried icing
  23. Hi everyone, just wanted to see if I could get some input from you. I 'm a 27 year old female, and all through puberty I have had horrible acne. This was eventually treated with a couple of cycles of klinotab (minocyclin). Ever since I was about 19 years old I've been practically acne-free, with the odd breakout during that time of the month. In january I found out I'm allergic to quite a lot of foods (including gluten, eggs, mushrooms, lactose,...) and I've been off those foods sinc

Hi everyone. New here. I'm struggling on how to 'label' my acne. I tend to get these annoying red spots, mostly in my cheek area, but it's beginning to spread. Really taking away my confidence. Are these mostly fresh scars or actual acne? I want to know what products to look out for, specific to whatever the hell my skin is. I've been on isotrex gel, isotretinoin gel and benzoyl peroxide. All have had their temporary affect. Currently on Lymcycline tablets (under a week) but not sure if that wil
