  1. I'm a 28-year old, dark-skinned Indian lady living in Columbus, Ohio. I was on Accutane last year and all I looked forward to was being able to attack these scars once enough time had passed. After mustering up the courage and a couple of consultations I am getting subcision tomorrow! I am SO nervous! My doctor thinks I should do fillers for the instant gratification, but I will be doing subcision + suction and I will keep you all updated on my progress. Attached is a picture of t
  2. Hi guys. I haven't been here in years (couldn't remember my old password so I made a new account!). Quick backstory: I developed mild acne when I was 13 which progressed to moderate and then moderate-severe acne by the time I was 16. I had an underlying hormonal issue (possibly PCOS) that didn't rear it's head until I started puberty. I believe it's an androgen excess as I'm a girl and have oily skin, excess hair, etc. etc. Fast forward to now. I'm 20 and have been on birth control for about t
  3. Hey Guys, Veteran member here. Ive been battling acne since I was a teen, cant remember how young now. I've had 2 courses of accutane and tried numerous topicals. Around 26-27 yrs of age, my acne became very mild and manageable. I've just had my first child, and my skin has steadily gone downhill since giving birth. I am 11 months post-partum and my skin looks the worst it ever has. Over the last 6 months i have tried proactiv, PC BHA 2%, PC BHA 4%, (no BP as this is too damaging to m
  4. Hey guys. Im a fellow acne sufferer (since i turned 16 and coincidently when i started getting facial hair). I'm now 26, and my acne has progressed from severe to mild/moderate but persistent. In that time i have changed my diet, cut out spicy foods, chocolates and eggs and also some other stuff, although it has worked to a point i've never been clear. A huge change came when I started eating/drinking Psyllium husk with warm/hot water, to help prevent toxins accumulating in my digestive tract. M
  5. Well I just got my ScarAway sheets today and cut one up and stuck it on straight away. As each week goes by Ill give updates. I wanted to post this because I have yet to see a proper review of it by an asian, and this is important for any dark skinned people using it as it affects different skin tones differently, and may affect the overall result. The scar is half an inch, very dark brown and slightly raised on my nose. It is VERY noticable. There is a deep closed comedone underneath it tha
  6. Hello, I'm 20, male, 90 kg and has been suffering from moderate to sever acne but only on the face for number of years. I've been prescribed Roaccutane by an NHS dermatologist, starting out on 20 mg for first month followed by 40 mg in second before I see him again. I need some advice regarding looking after my face and skin, What face cleanser, moisturizer etc... should I get? please recommend me products that I can easily get from a high street store or super market and are not tha
  7. Hi, I'm Indian with dark skin toned. I have been on BP for 2 weeks and my problematic area (Cheeks) are actually 5 shades darker then the rest of my face (forehead, chin, nose). It's like as if I used a dark brown bronzer all over my cheeks. I am freaking out and have stop using BP because I read somewhere that the dark mark (not pimple mark but my whole cheeks) might last up to 2 years. has anyone experience this before? Should I be worried and see a dermatologist? I was hoping that once I st
  8. Indian Skin and Acne

Overview In India, similarly to other places in the world, acne is the most common skin disease and affects a large percentage of people. The Indian Acne Alliance notes that "acne is believed to be as common in India as it is in European Union (EU) and USA."1 However, researchers have performed few studies specifically on people of Indian origin. There is some evidence that Asian children and adolescents may suffer from acne somewhat less than...
  9. What Ethnicity Has the Most Adult Acne?

Adult acne is defined as acne in people over 25 years of age. In the U.S., adult acne is the leading skin condition affecting people between the ages of 25 and 40,1 but it does not affect all races and ethnicities equally. According to a study published in 2010 in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, "There [is] variation in the prevalence of acne and its subtypes by racial and ethnic group."2 Several...
  10. My journey to clear skin began in 8th grade; I am now going to 12th. Throughout the years, I've tried atleast 20 drugstore products (Clearasil, Neutrogena, Clean& Clear, PURPOSE, etc), Pro-active, Aczone, Differin, Epi-duo gel, Tazorac, 10% Benzoyl Peroxide washes, Triaz, Doxycycline, Minocycline, Solodyn, Doroyx, Monodox, Prednisolone, Clindamycin phosphate lotion, hollistic diet approaches, detox diets, etc. Now I'm on to Accutane as a last resort. Last summer my skin cleared up comp
  11. After struggling with acne for quite a while, I found something that really helps. I primarily have facial acne, but will occasionally get small patches on my chest as well. Recently, I began using a face mask that is a mixture of Indian Healing Clay with Apple Cider Vinegar and washing with Black African Soap. The results were pretty amazing to be honest, after a week or so, I would say that 70% of my old acne is fading. I put a little bit of the mask on my chest where I had about three zit
  12. I am a male. My ethnicity is South Asian (East Indian). My skin color is light brown (winter) to medium brown (when tanned in summer). I would probably be a type 4 on the fitzpatrick scale. When I was approximately 17, I got 4 really large pustules on the tip of my nose and on the side. The pustules were red, large, and took a long time to subside. Blood came out of them and a lot of pus came out of them as well. 2 pustules were on the tip of my nose, and 2 were on the right side
  13. I am a 30 years old indian male, I got dark bands on my neck due to use of 4% hydroquinone and to reolve that issue, i did a 30% tca but it backfired and now I got hyper pigmented on complete neck. I am attaching some pics. Not sure if this is temporary or permanent and what options I have to resolve this. will this improve with time, does lasers help this? or any other peel I should do? Thanks. Please please help.
  14. Hello! Here is my diary of sorts to document a journey I never thought I would be taking. About me I am about to turn 27 but have suffered with acne on and off my whole life. I seemed to have it mostly under control with the OCP but in April 2015 something happened and it came back with a vengeance. I suffer on average with 2-3 cysts on my face at a time which are painful, large, ugly and take weeks to resolve. Not only this, but they leave bad PIH that takes years to go away. Ive tried birt
