  1. I was traumatized with horrendous acne on my chest and back from the 1970s and 1980s. Today I saw just how bad those scars are. Thank God the scars on my face are nowhere near as bad as the scars left on my back. Is there any plastic surgery procedures that can help smooth out deep ice pick scars on the back? Some even go up to my neckline which I never realized until today. The photo I am attaching is not very good. The scars are much deeper and wider. Thanks for your help.
  2. From the time I was about 11 all the way through high school I had terrible acne. Come to find out it was because our well water had a bacterial problem and when I moved to college my acne magically disappeared for the most part except occasional break outs. Now I'm 23 and I've been left with these horrible acne scars (see pics). I'm so embarrassed by it and I hate leaving the house without makeup. It makes me soooo self conscious. They're concentrated on my cheeks and forehead. Does anyone have
  3. I'm really confused with my skin because I never had really bad acne but it left me with pretty bad scarring. My skin is now very textured and appears to have a bunch of tiny holes in it. I have no idea what type of scarring I have or if there's any treatment for it. I think it might be icepick but please leave me some advice about them. Also does anyone think they will go away with time? also excuse the redness mess of my face in the pic I had just washed it
  4. Hi Everyone I don't normally do these type of write ups but I thought I should share my success with fellow icepick scar/acne pit sufferers. I managed to get a private/NHS referral to see a dermatologist at Hammersmith Hospital in London where I had one treatment of TCA Cross. This was in October 2013. I am writing this post now because over the past month I have received a lot of positive comments about my skin. In the first few months after the treatment I thought the scars looked wi
  5. Hi guys! Just signed up today. I have been battling acne for about 10 years now. I have only started scarring about a year ago. I hardly get any pimples at all any more (using cetaphil cleanser and moisturising cream - no acne treatments) but these scars are here and bothering me SO MUCH. Some of them are still red and its been over 6 months. However, I want to know what type of indentations these are and what I could do about them. Will they get shallower on their own over time? Some are only a
  6. I am putting in tags and hope that helps help find this if the post bears fruit. I know there have been a lot of posts on this already but so far I only found really old threads. I've searched around the site and what came up are a lot of people asking for basic advice (I'll be fair, I need it too) without having their questions answered. Background--three cycles of Accutane, three years of Aldactone, usage of topicals now and then (like benzoyl peroxide) overnight, saggy inelastic skin
  7. I had 2 TCA cross treatments with a dermatologist and between the cost and getting out to his office (which required me to rent a car) and cost of the treatment, I decided to do a cross treatment myself. I had trouble ordering a pre-made 100%tca solution, and I was also learly of ordering it online in case the quality wasnt reliable. So I made my own. I ordered pure ACS Reagent TCA crystals (this is very important...since the purity and high grade of the crystals is essential), bought a sens
  8. Hi everyone. I have been suffering from acne as long as I can remember.. literally. Back in elementary school is when it started and when it ruined my life. I was made fun of on a daily basis for it and quickly became super insecure and I still am to this day (I am now 27 years old). I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of my acne and NOTHING helps. Does this look like cystic acne? Maybe that’s why over the counter products are not working? I’m not familiar wirh cystic acne, so I don’t know. I jus
  9. I'm turning 18 soon. My life has been not too bad, but I've had some pretty bad skin problems in high school. I broke out really bad and went on accutane which left me with scars mostly on my cheeks. I'd say they're not really too bad, definitely noticable though. Icepick and rolling scars. My dream is to become an actor or a music artist. I'm a very good looking guy besides having scars and a little acne. I've been told if I had flawless skin I'd be able to get any girl I want. But the prob
  10. Hi I am new to these forums but I have been here a few times. I was really confused about all the information regarding derma rollers, and well in needling in general and improvement in specific scar types. I believe I was reading that it has only been studied (vastly understudied yet hope inspiring) but mainly it improve hypertrophic/keloid type raised scars. But where does that leave other ice pick indention scars? And is the science behind collagen stimulation even remotely feasible? I want t
  11. Hi- I could really use some advice about scar treatments! I did accutane two years ago and am almost completely clear, but my cheeks were left with a mixture of scarred pores, small/shallow boxcar scars, and 2-3 icepick scars per side. My cheeks look quite similar to this person's skin, except the pores are bigger https://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/58743-50-tca-cross-experiment/?page=1 I went to see my dermatologist's technician for the first time yesterday, and she recommended 3-4 round
  12. i am 16 years old and i had mild cystic acne and just pimples in general from the age of 11-14. for the past year i haven't had any bad breakouts, just a few pimples here and there, but i am left several icepick and boxcar scars from my previous acne and i didn't even pick at my acne that much. a couple weeks ago i started using the neutrogena microdermabrasion system at home to help my indented scars. i feel like this machine is a good exfoliator. is this is a good idea? is my skin to young to
  13. I’ve been visiting acne.org for little over a year now in hopes of finding a solution for my acne scars. For as long as I can remember I’ve suffered with hormonal acne, pimples and blackheads. Now that the breakouts have started to calm down I am left with hideous hyperpigmentation along with indented icepick scars (possibly other types as well). The hyperpigmentation is improving with consistent use of hydroquinone, but the scars are becoming a such problem that it’s starting to ruin my self es
  14. I've had acne scars for about 10-15 years. I've attached images below. My theory is that I got these scars after being on Accutane. I think they are icepick and boxcar type, but I'd love a second opinion. I live in San Francisco and have tried some fraxel laser but with very limited results. Tried some microneedling too, but have not done it regularly. I finally have some time off to devote to finding the right solution to my scars, and I wanted to seek some opinions from the community.
