  1. Hi I have attacked a picture of my acne. I ALWAYS break out on my chin and around my mouth. About 3 months ago I went to an esthetician who recommended I use a prescribed cleanser with salicylic acid and a mattifier moisturizer. I used it for 3 months and my forehead cleared a bit but my chin had no change. I recently just changed my regimen to the following 1. Oil control foam wash by Cetaphil 2. Dickinson’s original witch hazel 3. Neutrogena oil free moisturizer for sensitive skin. Night
  2. Hi everyone, I have been on 50mg once a day since April of 2016. It seriously worked like a miracle from April 2016 to June 2017. The past couple of months I have been breaking out inconsistently. Sometimes multiple breakouts a day, sometimes once a week. My dermatologist suggested upping my dosage to 50mg twice a day (so 100mg total) and she thinks that will get my skin back in order. When I first started last April I was breaking out a little more but the acne would show up and go away in
  3. Hello. I am a 13 year old girl, and Im struggling with acne. I hate going to school because of my acne. I can tell my friends are always looking at it when they are talking to me, but they never say anything about it. I've been struggling for 3 years, and I've tried EVERYTHING to get rid of it. Creams, serums, you name it. Nothing is helping. I cry because of my acne. I get jealous because most people in my school have clear skin, and I'm sitting here with acne all over my face. Anyone that has/
  4. After staying clear on Yasmin for 2 years, my acne flared up worse than ever 5 months ago regardless of the fact I was still taking my Yasmin religiously. Two months ago (almost) the docs and a private dermatologist changed me over to Dianette due to the Yasmin working so well for me the first time, however these hormones were no longer right for me anymore. I decided to make a log of my progress due to finding the logs of Dianette on here so helpful to read whilst I was waiting for my pil
  5. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion
  6. A few years ago I started over-exercising and lost a ton of weight which was a possible cause of losing my period. I was also extremely stressed during that time so that could be a reason too. Even though I didn't have my period for 3 years I didn't have a single breakout or health problem during the whole time. Recently I've gained a big of weight and got my period back along with all sorts of skin problems I've never had before. Around Day 21 of my approximately 30 day cycle I usually star
  7. Hi im just wondering if anyone on here has tried Yasmin for adult hormonal acne? I have had a blood test and am waiting for a scan for PCOS as the doctor thinks i have it. I was given yaz to try before any of this came to light but I decided against it after reading horror stories online. Im currently on the acne.org regimen and I really don't think it's working and ive seen mixed reviews on its effectiveness for hormonal acne.
  8. I am hoping to get any answers from people who have personally had glycolic peels or microdermabrasion. I went to my dermatologist last week and he prescribed spiro and he suggested I get microdermabrasion and glycolic peels in their office because it is covered by my insurance. I have had another dermatologist recommend it but I was told I would have to get off trentinoin completely and I am not willing to do that. But my dermatologist told me last week that I would need to just not use the tre

    Day 2

I hardly expected to see any changes yet here we are! I have been taking the akamin antibiotics in the morning and at night i use the epiduo. This morning i have noticed small pimples coming up with white heads. I am hoping this is just the treatment bringing out the acne - my gp did say the acne may become worse before it gets better. I clean my face with a cleanser and a scrub in the morning and night and i used a tea tree toner afterwards. I have noticed the toner helps reduce rednes

Hi everyone. So I've been back on the broth for almost a week now (I started last Friday), and while my skin isn't actually much better, I think it's definitely helping! This is because today is Day 14 of my cycle which is usually a TERRIBLE time (Days 13-16 are hell), and actually I've only had a couple of breakouts - and they're not cysts, just spots (though admittedly one is quite deep.) Obviously this could all change in the next day or so, but for now I'm happy! Anyway I need advice - h
  11. So I was on 100 mg of spironolactone for about 8 years and then down to 50 mg for the last two years. I have hereditary high cholesterol ( 28 years old female) and my cardiologist has been tracking my levels and within the last 10 years my levels even on cholesterol medications have been slowly going up. 6 months ago she told me to stop taking the acne medication ( spironolactone) as that has been shown to possibly raise LDL cholesterol. Now, I didn't even think about it and I Just quit taking t
  12. Hey there, I started using Lymecycline plus epiduo about 2 weeks and a few days now, I think I have severe acne but however my dermatologist prescribed Lymecycline. How long Will it take to work and will it get rid of all of my acne??
  13. Hi there, I'm a 26 year old female with constant breakouts. I don't by any means have severe acne, i would say it is mild. But i have constant clogged pores, and blackheads and breakouts that make me extremely self conscious at my age. I have been using retin-A for about 2 years at night along with aczone. Dont really think it did much for me to be honest. I've also tried creams like Tazorac and Finacea gel. I use tretonin a few times a week at night and aczone in the mornings. I went to the d
  14. hey there I have literally never posted on an acne forum however I have trawled this forum and all over the internet for the past few years and can finally say my acne is under control (touch wood). I thought I would share on here what worked for me in the hope it might help others suffering! Basically, my story is the same as so many people - I came off the pill after around 10 years (dianne 35) and all of a sudden my face, and my back was a mess! I tried everything dietary first - I tried gi
  15. Hey there, Been on Dianette for 6 months now. Only in the past month or two has it really cleared my skin, so i'm really happy with it. However, after my Doctors appointment yesterday he said i must come off the pill after the next 3 month package, taking me to 9 months. However this is just before my holidays so i'd really like to stay on it just another 2 months to take me to 11 months? Is this too long? Has anyone been on Dianette for ages? Before Dianette I was on Yasmin, which I ha
  16. For the past week or so, I've ben going crazy scouring the entire web for Yaz reviews. Until now, I still don't know whether to take it or not. For the past month or so, I have been suffering from painful cysts on my chin. Those large freaking bumps with no head and take forever to heal. I read that acne on the chin indicates a hormonal problem and that Yaz can help. But the side effects are terrifying. And I'm particularly worried about the initial breakout. Is it possible to take Yaz without t
  17. Hello guys! Really hoping for some help on here of someone whos used Dianette for acne treatment Firstly, heres a little background story. Started to get mild acne when I was 16, so went straight to the docs and put on Yasmin. Worked amazingly for 2/3 years up till I was about 19 and had good skin throughout. However, at 19, my skin absolutely exploded with sore, scar causing acne. I was so confused as I was still taking my Yasmin religiously however the docs informed me that your hormones
  18. I have had spots since the age of 15, but 10 years on, I found my skin had become so much worse than it ever had been before. It all got too much this year, when I regularly ended up in tears whilst putting on my make up in the morning - as it was so painful to touch my face, and it just looked so angry and inflamed. I'd constantly be back and forth to the bathroom at work, just to make sure my spots weren't on display - and to also apply pressed-powder to get rid of the constant shine I had, fr
  19. I work night shift so I woke up about 3 pm today. I rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom and to my surprise, there were no new pimples on my face. Which is SO rare! The left side of my cheek, that was covered completely in acne for the last 3 weeks, has healed up so much. November 10th will be three full months that I've been on Spiro. I'm trying not to be too hopeful, because I'm afraid my skin is just calming down and going to freak out again in a week or so. But I cannot help how excite
  20. Hi guys, I have female adult hormonal acne and have been taking birth control (Dianette) for the last 2.5 years and it has kept my skin completely clear. But as it's high risk for blood clots I had to come off it a couple of months ago and my skin has started to break out a bit already.. No cysts yet but I'm worried they'll come back. After doing a lot of research, I think Spiro would work for me as it controls androgens like Dianette BUT it isn't licensed for acne in Ireland. I asked
  21. Hey users! Been on Dianette for 11 full months now, starting my month 12 tomorrow. However, this is my last month and will be a full year on Dianette so my doctor now wants me to change back to Yasmin. Prior to Dianette I was on Yasmin for 2 and a half years, 2 of which my skin was great but the last 6 months it was really quite awful! Preying my skin won't go back to the bad stage and it was just a random blip of my hormones, however, just wondering what other peoples experiences of the D

  23. So if anyone looked at my skin, they'd say I have very mild acne. Luckily, my acne is not inflamed red pimples or cystic pimples all over my face. Unfortunately, I have small flesh-colored bumps on my chin. These bumps are called closed comedones. They do not come to a head no matter what. Although they are not THAT noticeable, it takes a huge toll on my self-esteem. I believe this is hormonal acne because I've always had clear skin up until my senior year of high school. I began stressing over
  24. I’m a 37 year old with hormonal cystic acne. I used the regimen for 6 years and it worked wonders. But I decided it was time to quit. Plus I read you shouldn’t use Benzoyl Peroxide if your pregnant and I’m planning on trying to get pregnant soon. Since I’m aware you can’t just stop using it, I started a long journey of reducing the amount of product I use. First of all I must say I only used it on my chin, which is the only part of my face that’s affected. I got used to using two di
  25. Hey, so for a few years since I hit puberty I had maybe 1 or 2 cysts around my month .. but fairly clear skin. It was very clear .. i was waking up same time everyday.. eating balanced diet same exact time everyday ( as I was in hospital for about 6 months doing same routine everyday) Suddenly.. about 2 months ago when i got home my face just got all these cysts on my cheeks? Then my period came 2 weeks early.. It could be that my sleep pattern messed up.. and my diet messed up.. eating junk fo
