  1. Ok so to start off with, here's a brief overview of my experience with acne: I have had severe acne for the past two years. It is hormonal and is a constant source of shame and embarrassment to me every waking minute of the day. My acne is worse than most other people at my school, which doesn't help me feel socially accepted. It is painful, sore, itchy, bright red and bumpy, and all over my forehead, chin, upper-lip, and both cheeks as well as along the cheekbones. I have tried pretty much ev
  2. So I've been on accutane before ( see my previous post ) but right now I'm on 10mg accutane and I'm definitely seeing side effects ( dry skin, nose bleeds, chapped lips,) but I'm still slightly breaking out. Should I up the dosage or will time take its course? I ordered online btw.
  3. Hello Everybody....I´ve been following this site for a very long time but only now I have decided to make my first post. First I will tell you a bit about myself and my acne. (Hope its not too long to read!! ) So Im a 23 year old girl from Portugal who has suffered from acne ever since I was about 9...they started a small bumps ,and then when I was about 13 they really got horrific...on my chest, back, arms, scalp and my face was covered with deep painful inflamattory acne. I was diagnosed w
  4. Hello, all. (Warning: this post is a doozy of an introduction.) I am a 23-year-old woman who has struggled with acne since about 14. It's varied between mild and moderate, but has always caused me significant stress. This is the year I'm going to find what definitively works for me so that I can have consistently clear skin and move on to more important things in my life. (Like my career, art, enjoying the people I love, travel, etc.) I no longer want to be consumed by the self-conscious
  5. Until about 30 minutes ago I was convinced that acne was a modern disease. But then this article came along: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2081863/pdf/procrsmed00581-0015.pdf It was called "The History of Acne". I admit I mostly just skimmed it, but it is about the origin of the word "acne". The article says that the ancient Greeks, Aristotle and Hippocrates talked about acne, as well as the ancient Romans, Pliny and Celsus. They all lived around 2,000 years ago. It goes on to talk

    First Two Days

Here begins the journey! Well, it really started yesterday, when I took my first isotretinoin dose. Or perhaps I should say it began a week ago when my dermatologist prescribed accutane for my acne. Or even better, maybe this journey began when I was in college and all sorts of antibiotics weren't working for my skin. Come to think of it, this journey started in high school when I was sure my acne was due to my football helmet. Well, now if I'm going back this far, I might as well say this
  7. Hello, I have posted a few times on this site, but have never revealed my entire journey. I would like to say that my acne story ends with Accutane, but unfortunately, I believe my story is just beginning. First, let me introduce myself. I am Chrissy, a 21 year old student in Las Vegas, Nevada. Acne runs in both sides of my family. I first learned I had acne when I was eleven or twelve, and had just hit puberty. My skin was red and rashy under my nose and on my chin. My mother began to tell me
