  2. Two months ago: today: So this girly needs some advice from women who have or are suffering from hormonal acne and have used birth control to control their acne breakouts. Background: I have suffered from anorexia for the last 6 years (since I was 16) and due to this I have never properly had my periods, only the occasional one every now and again. However since maintaining my weight, still low but healthy enough (BMI 15, if that is any help to anyone), I have had a massive hormonal breakou
  3. I have dealt with moderate to severe acne since I was 13. 2 months ago, I was so happy because my skin was clearing up, I had almost no acne on my face. However, after consuming a lot of dairy, I experienced a massive breakout. In an effort to clear my skin up, I immediately stopped consuming all animal products. I also cut out bread, soy, and added sugar. Even with this diet change, 2 months later my skin is getting worse by the day. I had better skin when I was drinking soda and eating proce
  4. Have anyone tried this one? Because I'm thinking about trying it out but I would like some opinions and reviews^^
  5. Hi this is Snarky girl. I've been meaning g to start a log for my own benefit and for anyone else who is interested in sharing ideas. I've had acne since age 10 more or less and I'm 32 now. Enough is enough! I've tried the usual in the past: Minocycline on and off, which worked for a while but I don't want to take it anymore because of the side effects and killing off good bacteria. Last time I took it I got a yeast infection and my stomach felt bad. Doxycycline: just NO, makes me sick
  6. Okay hi, I remember I posted a post in March about my acne. I Haven't used benzoyl since then I stayed away from chemicals, I don't even use face washes anymore. I went on antibiotics and I started drinking a lot of green tea. Surprisingly my acne has somewhat cleared up I still have acne scars which I'm working to get rid of and breakouts on my forehead/chin but I tried everything and finally something worked. My entire back and chest acne had gone away first (I have black scars from it) I've n
  7. I'm pretty sure the green tea I've started drinking for the last 2 days has caused/ contributed to a breakout. How can you tell if it's just a breakout from the caffeine or just a purging stage? Anyone have great success with green tea? Especially when your diet is near perfect lol. I've been having 2 cups a day.
  8. First, a background on myself. I'm 20 years old who has had perfect skin until last year, when I started breaking out like crazy on my chin. I was desperate to make them go away so I tried every single OTC acne medication, cosmetic acne treatment you could think of. Tretinoin especially made my acne worse for me and I started breaking out on my chin. I NEVER break out there. So I stopped using it and my face calmed down a bit. Only a pimple or two every other day. I decided to try using egg whit
  9. Hey everyone, I'm really new here, and wanted to ask the community about a new skincare routine I'll be trying out soon. I've had a really bad breakout that started almost 7–8 weeks ago, and I've been trying Salycyclic Acid, namely through Stridex Maximum wipes since then, but I realise that Salycyclic Acid doesn't help my acne too much and I'm reorting to sulfur instead after reading up about it. Here's the breakdown of my routines (before breakout, during breakout, and what I plan to change
  10. I dont know if i started this topic in the right section but is it possible to cure or help hormonal acne WITHOUT medication? fish oil makes my skin worse but ive heard it work for others. Ive recently started drinking 2 cups of green tea a day (i cant do more because i have iron deficiency). I basically have clear skin for two weeks, then two weeks before my period i break out with papsules and around 4 days before my period i get 1-2 massive cysts. All on my chin. People would think i suffer
  11. Hi and Thank-you for dropping by, My name is Hannah, a 22 year old female looking for allies to support each other through our difficult journey in battling acne. I had acne since my teens, but got 90% clear through changes in diet and taking supplements. I've tried from paleo to low-fat vegan, and I am still looking for what works best for me and my life style. (Of course I don't neglect traditional medicine, I've experience great results from anti-biotic topicals and dan's regime) I
  12. A few days ago, I started using green tea as an attempt to treat acne. I drink about three cups a day and rub the bag over my face, mostly on old scars. I have a few questions about this method. How effective is it? Should I use the leaves inside the bag on my face? How long will I have to wait to see changes? I'm washing my face with a tea tree wash and using a toner as well
  13. Ah, back again! If you've followed to any of my recent posts, you know I'm a frustrated Acne.org long timer. Long story short I started the regimen in December 2013 and was 110% baby butt clear about 5 months later. I then lived happily ever after with no acne! I wish... I stayed clear for the better part of 3-4 months. And I mean REALLY clear. No noticeable signs of acne at all. It was so good I could posted a photo of myself during my clear period and I had friends texting me say "Holy cr
  14. Hi folks, I am beginning my third month of 100 mg spironalactone per day. I'm hoping it will kick in soon. I have read (in The Big Hormone Post) that coffee makes hormonal acne worse. In an effort to reduce my coffee intake, I hope to switch to mate, black tea, and green tea. I understand that avoiding caffeine altogether might be ideal, but this is not realistic for me. Has anyone experienced or read about an improvement upon switching from coffee to tea? Finally, has anyone found that
  15. My skin I can't remeber the last time I looked at myself and wasn't ashamed of my acne. It really doesn't help that all of my friends have sparkling clear skin and they don't even wash their makeup off! I have black heads covering my nose, chin, and some in the skin between my under eyes and nose. Near my time of the month I develop cystic acne on my cheeks and my forehead near my hairline. I'm also a compulsive picker. I can't understand why but I have the urge to pick everything off my face,
  16. Alright folks. Here it goes. The only thing that has ever worked for my acne is BP, but I can't use it very often because my skin is so sensitive. I mean if I so much as touch my face it turns red. So I've been reading a lot of posts on AcneEinstein, which is natural, science based treatments for acne, and I read one post that shows green tea is just as effective as BP for acne without all the side effects. I also read that antioxidants are very good for acne, especially Niacinamide and SAP (a v
  17. Hello- longtime lurker here I've been meaning to write this for quite sometime after getting a lot of great advice on my own skin from this site. After living with severe cystic acne for the last 4 years, I have finally come to a place thats manageable (90% gone) and for the most part breakout free. Acne has literally killed my self esteem and its taken a long time to figure out what caused it. One moment I was a cute happy girl with a social life and one day I became that person who would st
  18. Hi Everyone, I've read through all of "the good things" post and also read the post about all of those people who have cleared their acne holistically. I'm just really struggling with this hormonal cystic chin acne, every month if flares back up. Here's my general routine and FYI I'm a 20 year old woman in college. Morning: Wash with cetaphil oil control wash apply madre green tea lotion apply cetaphil oil control sunscreen Night Wash with prescription sulfur wash Apply green tea
  19. So I'm a female, in my 20s and I suffer from moderate/severe acne. I use to have very severe acne about three or four years ago, I still think it's still severe to an extent, but not as bad as it was before. Anyway, this is what I'll be using for three months: Clean & Clear 5% BPO wash (or the PCA Skin31 5% BPO wash) Acne.org Treatment (Only at night) Acne.org AHA+ (Only apply at night 2/3 a week) BPO mask (one to twice a week) Taking: Multi+ Daily Glow Mult
  20. I have red marks from acne all over my face, back, and chest. My acne itself is minimal. I've had acne since I was 8, and now I'm 17. There were a few years that I had really severe acne. Not even accutane helped, and I was on it for 10 months plus I took three different antibiotics during that time. Anyways, now i just have a few small breakouts here and there, and it's very tolerable. What bothers me is the marks left behind. I've done three lazer treatments, by the way, and my dermatologist t
  21. Hey guys, I have moderate acne on the sides of my face and on my chin that doesn't seem to go. Recently I was told dairy could be playing a big part in my struggle to get rid of acne and that I should cut it out. I have also browsed the internet and I only hear good things about the health benefits of green tea and it's anti inflammitory properties. So today I popped to the shops and picked up some green tea and almond milk as a substitute for my beloved milk. Just wondering if anyone has
  22. Hey everyone, I'm looking to add a topical 2% green tea lotion to my current regimen and wanted some recommendations on the best one to buy? I'm UK based and am really struggling to find a 2% green tea lotion so any help or advice on where I can buy some would be great. Has anyone had any success with this in reducing oil production?
  23. Hello! About 2-2.5 weeks ago, I started drinking 3-5 cups/day of green tea, as well as mixing it in with my daily moisterizer (Aveeno Clear Complection), which I apply 3-5 times per day. Over the course of 1 week, I noticed this made a huge improvement, but it was not clearing up everything. Then, I began taking Zinc (25mg/day), Vitamin B6 (100% DV), Vitamin B12 (100% DV), Vitamin C(>100%), and Brewer's Yeast (6 tablets a day w/food) in addition to Vitamin A (100% DV), which I had already be
  24. So for the past year almost, I've been using BP as my acne treatment. As far as I can tell, it helps keep my worst acne at bay, but it's never completely cleared me. So I did a little research (and by research I mean google) and a little thing called green tea caught my eye. And it had me thinking twice about BP. Sure, BP kills bacteria, but other than that, it kind of ruins my skin. Green tea (used topically), however, is as good at killing bacteria as BP is, BUT it also has anti-oxidants,
