  1. Its been around a week since I washed my face with any skin care products and I am breaking out bad. Before I was using MD formulations facial cleanser (12% Glycolic Compound) with a green tea moisturizer from proactive, but I ran out of the moisturizer cause it was a really small tube and I dont want to use the facial cleanser without a moisturizer. Now I am looking for skin care products that best fit my skin type but I really dont know what my skin type is, as the day goes on my nose gets rea
  2. Hi, I've been learning about the links between hormones and acne. Just want to make sure my understanding is correct. My understanding: - both androgen and estrogen can cause acne - anti-androgen includes: green tea, saw palmetto, nettle root, spiro - anti-estrogen includes: progesterone (is it anti-androgen as well?), vitex, evening primrose oil Is my understanding correct? I'm male and has a bald spot. In this case can I assume that my acne is caused by androgen? And if
  3. So today is the day that after alot of consideration i start accutane. Mainly making this log for my own benefit so i can track stuff easier down the line but maybe it will be of use to someone else on here so here we go! Background Acne runs in the family. My mum especially had a big battle with cystic acne right through her teens to early twenties. So it was no surprise that i have problems with Acne. I have had it ever since i was 12/13 which was just teenage spots which i controlled with o
  4. Tried some skin care products in High school but never really stuck with them. I never used any skin care on my face towards the end of High school (upperclassmen days). When I started getting self-conscious about my face I went to Wal-Mart and bought a Neutrogena face wash and the first time I used it it peeled my face off (above my cheek) so I returned that. The second face wash I used was MD formulations facial cleanser(12% Glycolic Compound), started using it and noticed my face would get re
  5. After reading about the benefits of green tea on acne, i decided to try it out. I am now drinking 3 cups of green daily and also keeping the green tea bag on my face for around 15 minutes twice a day (once the tea bag has cooled down) I've been doing this for about 4 or 5 days now and i notice that, especially after i keep the green tea bags on my face, a lot of my zits come to a head and zits that had already come to a head break. I'm also getting a number of blackheads. So my skin is not

  7. okay, so i finally got my acne under control. it has completely subsided from what it used to be. i'm on spironolactone right now, and thats the only medication that i'm taking right now. my derm is trying to put me on accutane, but based on what i've been reading on these boards, accutane does nothing for red marks. i've tried absolutely everything, green tea, ACV, potatoes, lemon juice, you name it. i think it's time to start doing some chemical peels. i will upload pics soon. the marks are al
  8. Has anyone ever tried Boots No7 skin products. They have a "beautifully balanced" collection which are all supposed to be ph balanced. The ingredients SEEM good, but I don't know much about that. They all contain zinc, some have tea tree oil, and vitamins. They have a rebalancing night fluid that moisturizes and contains zinc vitamin A green tea and shea. They have a rebalancing day gel as well...I don't think the harsh drying products are working for me..do these products sound good? or has any
  9. Hello, i just joined this forum today. Well the reason i joined was because i wanted advice and i was fed up with my acne. I'm currently 16. I'm chinese and female. My skin: It is pretty oily all round, not just the Tzone. I have more reddish-brown marks than existing acne. My acne mainly consist of Blackheads, whiteheads, papules and pustules as well as maybe nodules. I'm not sure what are nodules but the ones i have are sort of like pimples that lie deeper in the skin and when i pop them, t
  10. So, last week I came across an all-natural 30ml acne cream on eBay called "WonderCream". It claims to contain the following ingredients: Avocado OilAloe VeraVitamin EOrganic Rose HipGreen Tea ExtractOrganic Jojoba OilAustralian Tee Tree OilSo I received it on Saturday and I'm now on day 3 of use. I guess it'll take a week or more at least to start showing results. First impressions... it's a completely white and odourless cream, not hugely thick, in a 30ml pot with a printed label showing the a

  12. Hi Just wanted to re post the general part of what I've been doing. I think the other version will just take too long to read for most people. Now I'm finally acne free. In summary what I have been doing: 1. No more coffee in my diet. 2. No more dairy in my diet. 3. No more diet softdrinks in my diet. 4. No more refined flour in my diet, and I am greatly reducing the amount of bread products I am eating. 5. I bought a juicer, and have my lemon juice every single morning first thing. 6. I have
  13. Hello everyone. I have finally found the best natural possible treatment you can have to help your acne. The fact is... Diet DOES affect your acne. This is very much so true. The reason why you hear so many Doctors state that diet has no affect on acne is because the dermatology papers and research were done back in the 1960's and 1970's, and they thought diet has no correlation to food. If you ask your doctor or dermatologist what causes acne, they will likely give a vague response such a
  14. Here is an amazing infographic that shows the scientific evidence for applications of various supplements/herbs/vitamins etc. http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/play...il-supplements/ 1. The higher the bubble = the greater the evidence for its effectiveness. 2. Size of bubble = popularity 3. You might also see multiple bubbles for certain supps. These is because some supps affect a range of conditions, but the evidence quality varies from condition to condition. For example, there’s str

  16. Hey guys, Sorry I'm new to this so if I'm posting on the wrong page lemme know.. Basically I'm just checkin' in to see if anyone has any miracles out there for me. I am a 21 year old in college Basically since I was 13 years old, I've had acne every single day of my life. I haven't gone a single day without it since 13. 17. Hello! I am pretty new to this site and cystic acne. I had a bad outbreak about 2 years ago. It was a cluster of about 5 cysts all in the same area on the side of my chin. After a month on Tetracycline they either went away or surfaced so I could drain them. I have had a few on and off since then but usually small and I am able to bring them to the surface with a hot compress after a few days, drain them and let them heal. Now, I am on day 12 of having two very large cysts on my chin. The are p
  18. [Maybe I should start with a little background information about myself, set the scene for future readers: I'm Kristin, 23 years old and suffering from mild - moderate cystic acne. The acne came on 3 or 4 years ago, completely out of the blue and has been a constant battle of mine since then. In this time, I've tried almost EVERY cleanser out there and a small army of different topical treatments, to no avail.] So, I'm not sure what to do anymore. I've spent the longest time convinced tha

  20. I've started drinking green tea, about 5 cups a day for a few days now and I've still got breakouts of course but I'm wondering if there is a purge first, even with just drinking it? My question is that I would like to add an antioxidant serum to my regimen and Paula's have gotten only mixed r

  25. Hello all. I'm new on here, but have read several forum posts discussing tea and its relationship with acne. I figured I'd ask a couple questions, as I love tea! 1. Does all tea elevate testosterone levels, thereby creating more acne? (I know green tea does, but what about spearmint and rooibos?) 2. Has anyone had success with acne problems after drinking spearmint or rooibos tea? 3. I know senna tea is good for detoxification, but does it significantly aid in reducing acne lesions? Al
