  1. Hi, So its almost been 2 years since I last posted on Acne.org and kind of feel that I owe the community something after it helped me so much in my time of need. First off my name is Tim and in January 2010 i started a years course of accutane finishing this January gone (2011). My dosage at first was 20mg which then rose to 60/80mg then gradually back down towards the end of my treatment. I found life on accutane very, very hard. The drug is a BITCH, but at times we need a bitch to put us
  2. I'm 20 years old and I've had pretty normal skin most of my life, with a pimple here and there every once in a blue moon. However, back in January of 2012 but skin went on a crazy ride. I started breaking out everywhere. It was always very red, inflamed and ugly. I went to a derm and I didn't like what she put me on so I stopped. I went back to my old cleansing habits and a few months later my acne subsided. It would flare up every once in a while; but nothing like it did in January. Well this y
  3. I have a question! I have been avoiding makeup pretty much entirely..and i'm not too worried about wearing makeup during the day because I know come evening/night time time I take it off and wash my face with a cleanser to take it all off for a fresh face for night time to let all the BP sink in. So what my question is, what do I do if I want to wear makeup at night time around the time I am going to be doing my night time regimen? I usually do my night time routine at 5-6pm and I'm freaking o
  4. I promised to share my DD's experience after the ordeal was over. This review is not to recommend any treatment option because everyone responds differently to every drugs. We saw 3 dermatologists in Texas. All pointed us to Accutane after we tried the possible topicals, diet changes, and antibiotics. I spent months looking for user experience who took Accutane at this young age and found very few postings. It saddened to see my DD having to make choices like this at a very young age.
  5. Hello all, my name is Ross and I'm a senior in high school and I want to share how I go about dealing with my scars. But first, my acne story. Through upper elementary school, middle school, and the first year of high school, my skin was flawless. I actually would stare and poke fun at kids with acne (karma maybe?). Then sophomore year, I started getting zits on my cheek, peaking at probably 10-15 on each side (1st picture). Fast forward three months and minocycline and epiduo cleared my up be
  6. Hi Ladies -- What kind of Make Up are you all using? After spending a few weeks in Hawaii, I hardly wore any make up, and my skin cleared up (90%)... However, since being back home (in the cold), I wear make up every day to cover my hyper-pigmentation. I had been using a product line called Terra Firma Cosmetics (vegan & gluten free, bismuth free, and talc free) The first day I wore it again I broke out, the second day, I broke out even more, including a cystic pimple (which I had shot up wi
  7. Hey all, I figured I'd make a thread for the extreme extroverts who suffer/have suffered from acne. When you're in a breakout period or you're feeling uncomfortable, how do you manage to be your normal, energetic self? Do you still go out, exude confidence, flirt, and hook up? I know for a fact that, since clearing up a bit from Solodyn and Ziana, I've been feeling more and more like my usual self. How about you? Feel free to include any awesome party stories
  8. So, in-short, the acne-induced isolation-filled lifestyle that I've grown content with and accustomed to since graduating from college almost three years ago is beginning to be perceived as unhealthy, and rightfully so, by my family, coworkers and even strangers. Everyone tells me that I need a girlfriend, and its embarrassing and pathetic. I smile sheepishly and say something about how Im more professionally focused in life right now and that the other stuff will come later, but the truth is Im
  9. Hey girls, I've been googling and googling for days! I've gotten some relief from reading other girls posts on this site. But, I figured I'd post my own experience and hope to get some answers cleared up. So, I started Accutane June 23rd, 2013. (20mg) My first period on Accutane was July 6th-11th. Everything was normal, it ended and that was it. I didn't think anything of it because it wasn't different from any other period. Ten days later I started getting cramps, initially I just blamed it on
  10. It's quite impossible for majority of us to feel comfortable in our own skin as, well, our skin is pretty uncomfortable itself. I'm a 14 year old girl living in Hong Kong. The air here is rubbish which is a major contribution to my crappy skin, but it's not something I can change unless I move away from Hong Kong. As I am barely a teenager that would be impossible to just pack up my things and leave to a fresh air-ed country. Anyway, I started getting acne when I was 11, and there was only
  11. So lets start this blog with a little info about me; I'm 21, female, caucasian, I work, I school, I play (don't want to bore you with the details). My acne fluctuates in intensity but I am NEVER clear. I have acne on my face, arms, back, neck and chest It's usually moderate and sometimes severe cysts (not attractive!!!). My brother and all my cousins have taken accutane and it helped them soooo much so I'm pretty excited to finally have this extremely annoying acne taken care of. It would b
  12. It's my 8th week on the regimen and I've practically been clear since mid-6th week on the regimen. Now that I am getting my period in a few days I've noticed 3-4 cystic bumps kinda forming on my forehead. Is this normal? Not sure if this is cycle related or something else. Do you girls get breakouts towards your period?
  13. Hi I'm John. This isn't related to acne that much, although other people may be experiencing something similar where it is related. Although acne did have some effect... Anyway, when I was around thirteen, I was shy. I didn't have acne then but add that in a year or two down the road and I'm even more shy I wasn't one to initiate a random conversation and so I didn't introduce myself to people. I did make friends, I wasn't super nerdy but I was pretty close to that. My school isn't very big c

  16. Hey guys! DAY 1 I've literally only just found this site after taking my first 30mg dose of accutane and its been insanely helpful in letting me know what to expect, so I thought it was only fair for me to do a log too! I have struggled with acne for about three years now, with many various trips to the doctors and trying loads of different lotions and potions which had no use. I remember I even had one doctor who whenever I went for a checkup shouted at me saying it was my diet and I shouldn'
  17. Alright so my name's Joaquin, Senior in high school, and I'm 17 years of age. I have suffered from acne ever since I was 11 years old. It's always been a struggle of mine for years. Especially during all the times in attending school. By Junior year of high school I started seeing a dermatologist for a while and he would give me pills/medications to take for my acne, but It just wouldn't do it, until I went on a light cycle of Accutane for about 5 months. I still was getting breakouts so I had t
  18. I have severe acne, and over the past year it has developed into cystic acne. I believe my acne is hormonal as it does get worse right before my time of the month, however hormone tests always come back as 'normal'. My brother and sister both have acne and so did my Dad, so it is hereditary/genetic, but mine is worse than theirs ever was, they never had cystic acne. I am so depressed and in deperate need of help, it is becoming too much on a day to day basis now. Before I try the dreaded roacc
  19. Hi I have some pretty bad scars they are not much noticeable in day time when I am in sun but iin the room lighting they are very noticeable. My skin tone is not great either I have very harsh and uneven skin tone. I have never had any girlfriend in my entire life because of this fear. In fact I started a relationship with a girl in college who one day texted me during the conversation and asked why I have scars and she told me that she didn't like them. I was very much embarrassed and I told he
