  2. Alright guys. I'm getting at the end of my rope here with my acne. Let me describe myself before getting into the main question .. I'm a teenage girl, 18 to be exact. My acne has effected my teenage life greatly and I want to be at least 80% clear by the time I go back to school (college). My period is super irregular & my hormones are out of control. I've tried about everything topical, from chemical-filled solutions suggested by my derm (countless) to all natural & organic products to
  3. I think I'm too gullible, but anyways. I heard recently that ginkgo is good for evening skin tone and acne. What exactly are you supposed to take? Ginkgo biloba? or Ginkgo tea? .. Anyone know anything of this?
  4. I have 2 basic question about accutane. I am currently on 40 but will have my dosage upped to 80 this week. But I forgot to ask the doctor how to take it. Should I take 80 all at once or break it up into 2 times a day? Also, are there any negative sideffects of accutane and caffeine, green tea, or ginkgo bilboa? I need the energy boost. Thanks!
  5. Today I bought Sobe GReen Tea. I really liked it, if anything even more than Snapple Green Tea. I saw though, that it had additional ingredients besides Green Tea. The ones stated in the topic description. Are these other ingredients good for the skin as well? I know Ginkgo is good for memory and focus which is good for me since I am a choreographer. But how about Guarana, and echinacea?

  8. I've actually got a few questions, but let me first throw you my situation. I work out in the sun 6 days a week (installing sprinklers) and then usually hit our lake on Sunday for a good 5 hours or so. I had recently stopped the CSR to simply see if I could chug the water and take enough vitamins to help my skin. Well, damnit, I overdosed. I was trying to get megadoses of vitamin A but ended up megadosing on everything for I was taking multi-vitamins and whatnot, a stupid move. I had my acn

  11. So I have planned on accutane probably when the school year is over at the end of April if things don't get any better by then and it seems like I'm going down that road. I'm breaking out along the jawline everyday. I study away from home but I went home recently and my parents bought a new product for me to try. It's from Bioscor and I guess the acne product line is called Lalisse. It's made in Australia. I've never heard of it before so maybe they are starting to sell it here in Canada recentl
  12. I recently started taking Vitanica's Women's Phase I to help with cramps and other PMS related symptoms, and noticed almost immediately that it was helping my skin clear up a lot. However, after less than a week, I also started noticing that my hair was falling out at a fairly alarming rate. I stopped the supplement after about 2 weeks of taking it, and the hair loss seems to have stopped but unfortunately my skin has gotten worse again - on the supplement it got to be the best it has been since
  13. Here's what I recommend: 1) Try taking ginkgo bilboa pills. You can buy them at the grocery store for about $10 (in the vitamin section) and they help with both bad skin and impotence caused by anti-depressants and (I think) accutane. I take about 6 per day. Ginseng also helps a little bit -- I use Ginsama brand which is a little hard to find sometimes, but will be in the same section and also about $10. I take 2 a day of that. 2) Buy pills from naturalup.com . They really do work, the packagi
  14. Hey guys, I've been looking for a self tanner for ages now, but waited til i got myskin fully cleared up Years ago when I came off accutane I used Xen tan, had no problems, but I got fed up of applying it, then year or so later my acne came back (tha'ts when I got on the Acne.org regmine) I found out the tanner I use to use contained Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, which is a form of coconut oil, and it was 2nd on the ingredent list after the water LOL, so i'd say that's really high and fairly

  16. OK, I wrote about this product LALISSE last october/november in the Adult Acne section. I bought the starter kit from my local chemist. I am in my late 30's and have tried everything, from OTC to Roaccutane twice. I was getting so desperate that I was even contemplating getting Proactiv. But luckily before getting the PA I found Lalisse, which is alot cheaper than PA. The reason I am writing about this product again is so I can give an update. I have not had any active acne for around two month
  17. Hi guys, I'm new to the boards as everyone can see, so i guess ill do a little introduction to start off. My name is Ben i'm 20 years of age and live in Dorthy's world of Kansas City. I have been an acne sufferer for about 7 years now about the time puberty set in, which is natural in most men. I would label my acne as slight/moderate with mostly whiteheads. I have stumbled on acne.org in my search to clear skin which has only recently gotten serious. In high school i had the typical acne
  18. So here is a good article that explains how natural does not always = gentle and good; and chemical does not always =harsh or bad. It explains why this is a false dichotomy (e.g., there are plenty of natural chemicals, and even when a natural ingredient is in a product, it is often chemically altered). From Paula on www.cosmeticscop.com If there is one cosmetics industry buzz word that gets almost immediate consumer attention, it's "natural." Whatever preconceived or media-induced fiction s

  20. Diet tips - Having a wholesome diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables and low in processed or 'fast foods' is advisable to help maintain healthy skin. - A diet high in saturated fat e.g., butter and fried foods and sugary foods may encourage the production of excess oil on the skin causing a condition which may result in Acne. It is best to avoid these foods. - Drinking plenty of fresh water is a good idea to help the body to eliminate toxins properly. Try to drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of fr
  21. I have been putting meds on my face since 7th grade, and I am a little worried that over time its going to have bad affects. I used phisoderm for awhile, then I used proactive for a long time, and now I use plexion. Currently I am a senior in highschool and just ending my third month on accutane. I used the Cetaphil wash and it was ok, it doesn't really have anything to fight acne in it though, its just a cleanser, so I don't really use it, I just use the Plexion. So what I have been interested

  23. Every couple of months when I have to restock a few things, I also try out a few new ones. I am huge on exercise, health, diet and holistic medicine. Every single thing on this list is researched, calculated and purchased with specific intentions. I am in no way suggesting anyone needs these or should go buy them, but I can guarantee you that I have spent hours comparing these to other similar products and am pretty confident in their superiority (staying within a certain price range). Also,

  25. A while ago, I was into lots of herbs for blood and circulation. I was taking lots of Pycenogel, Grape Seed Extract, Ginkgo Biliboa, and a couple others. Somewhat during this time, I had really bad acne. Its pretty much gone now, and I havent taken those in a while. Not really cause of the acne, but they didnt really seem to effect my workouts or blood circulation that much. The acne left lots of redmarks tho. Could these herbs have been the cause of the acne? Could it have been bad for
