    Life With Acne

So my right check is begining to show the signs of emerging disaster.. But I'm so drained of think about my acne I almost don't even care. Almost. I'm going to try to stop picking at my skin. I don't think there's anything wrong with a little 'white head management' but I'v been really picking at like everything on my face. And it's really taking it's toll. So....I'm going to stop. Starting today. It's usually at night before my shower (or afterwards) that I pick. So I'm going to like write w

    Diet Plan

Hi, Well, I've had pretty bad acne since about my junior year of high school. I'm a 20 year old male. It got out of control my senior year so I was put on Accutane. Accutane worked wonders for me face(although the 5 months on it were a living hell), and I had been relatively clear up until about 6 months ago (2 years post accutane). Now I'm starting to get breakouts again. I do still get occasional cysts, maybe once a month, but I seem to always have at least a few pimples around, and every
  3. What the frick. Everywhere I look website are like: It's a myth that acne is influenced by oily foods, junk food, chocolate, etc. I see this all over the place, but I know for a fact if I go into my kitchen right now and eat the three cookies that have been taunting me all day, I will break out. I hate two cinnamon roles and a cookie over the course of the day yesterday and ate healthy the rest of the day, and I "out of the blue" broke out HARD. Much worse that it usually is. I know th

    Food And Acne?

Do greasy foods and sodas actually cause breakouts or is it all just in my head?
  5. So, from my research, these are the foods to go for to help get rid of acne. Please feel free to tell me anything that you think is good for acne that I can add to my list, or anything that is actually triggering that I should take off Honey Ginger Cinnamon Green tea Rooibos tea All fruits Berries Sweet potato Green-leafy veggies (e.g. spinach, kale) Nutmeg Fish Oil Oatmeal Lemons Turmeric Extra-virgin olive oil
  6. So this is a random question but I feel like my acne left me with a lot of emotional problems. First of all when I had acne (now i only have some scarring left) I was always anxious to be in bad lighting and stuff like that. So i guess after so much constant worrying i still feel social anxiety bc it was so common to me before that it hasn't gone away even if the original problem is gone. Is there any way to get rid of this other than seeing a doctor? because I don't want any anxiety pills AT
  7. For roughly around a week I have been attempting to start a lower Glycemic Index/load diet (along with eliminating most processed foods and most sugars/artificial sweeteners) in hopes that would aid in my acne healing, but I feel like I am struggling a bit. I am not so much struggling with will power, but really knowing what to eat. I have a fairly restricted diet as I am a non-dairy vegetarian and have a sunflower seed/oil allergy (you'd be surprised of all that it's in....it can be restr
  8. I've told my story numerous times in other topics, so I am going to keep this short. Bottom line is, I am a 20 years old guy with very persistent acne. At some point, it was terrible enough for me to take Accutane, which worked very nice during the time I took it. Acne came back shortly after finishing a long, low dose course. Now it is annoying enough to ruin some of my days but not as bad as before. Accutane was the only thing that ever worked for me, and here are some facts that I've noticed

Hello everyone, recently i've been eating organic, already peeled garlic gloves in the morning, afternoon and before bed. Other than that... Water water water, no soda. A quick way to get your vitamins is to combine coconut water (pure) with mixed greens ... you can buy these in square boxes at most supermarkets. And bananas, because they are cheap and filled with potassium and will bring out flavor in your shakes. There is one that contains A C K vitamins, which will give you energy, make you f

So here we are. Almost two years I've been apart of the Acne.org communtiy and I still haven't found my turning point. There have definitely been some ups, and obviously some downs. I really thought I was starting to understand my skin though. I thought I knew what worked on it, and what didn't. I thought I was following the rules. But now I just don't know anymore. My skin has gone from being oily and getting random, unpredicable breakouts all over my face. To becoming more dry and senitive, bu
  11. I just wanted to share my experience with you guys, in case it could help anyone. There are a lot of information out there about different causes of acne, but not so much about people’s sensitivity to specific food. I suffered from severe cystic acne for more than 6 years until I figured out slowly (over a period of 2 years) that it was all food related. I found out I am extremely sensitive to certain ingredients or additives in food, such as pectin, soy lecithin, xanthan gum, guar gum, and v
  12. Do you think certain foods can cause Acne? Many people say it's true, some say it's a myth. Personally, I think it's a myth [no, I'm not just telling myself that]. I did an experiment months ago. I stopped eating all unhealthy foods, I went full vegetarian and I drank only water, up to 4 liters a day... aaaand.. I still broke out like crazy. Then I continued my normal food habits - unhealthy food, soda and less than a liter of water, and nothing has ever changed so far. Of course it's
  13. Well, I'm not feeling particulaly eloquent or funny tonight, so I thought I'd throw some photos at you guys until I can do a proper blog. So for Movember (fundraising event for men's health, for those not in the mo know), on Sunday morning I helped Flatemate cook biscuits to take in for morning tea. He's not very adept at cooking (yet), and was also more than a trifle hungover under the weather, which meant that I pretty much did all the mixture-making and the cleaning, and four trays' worth
  14. Hey there. My name is Emma. I am 22 years old and live in London, England. Please support me in my experiment I will live on a whole foods, organic, vegan, high-carbohydrate diet for 3 months. I will track my nutritional info on CronoMeter. I will document my progress and experience so we can all learn from it. PURPOSE We can research journals, watch youtube and read the forums until we're blue (or red and lumpy) in the face. Only we, ourselves, can truly learn from experience. So here

    Road to clear skin

Hi Everyone It's my first blog and I'm excited and nerve wrecking at the same time to be blogging about - you-know-it ; Acne. Well to kick it off , I didn't know little things like this can actually destroy you, well for me , destroy my life in general. It made me feel somewhat vunerable and reserved. Day 2

Today my face is 90% clear. I only have two or three tiny zits. My back on the other hand is maybe just a little bit better. It's hard to tell but it's definitely not as bumpy as usual. Now onto what I ate. I had two eggs and some ham both fried with coconut oil sautéed spinach with olive oil and meat loaf A carrot stick And I'm gonna have a granola bar later And of course, a sh*t ton of water. Goodnight ✌️

    Wai Diet Thread

Hi everyone! I created this thread so that you can post your experiences with Wai Diet. There is a pinned thread for Paleo Diet, so I'd like to ask moderators to pin this thread too, please! I've been on Wai Diet for 9 months and I've been 99 to 100% clean since week 3. Before, I had moderate acne, with lots of inflammation. I used to have between 20 and 40 pimples, full of pus, spread all over my face. Notice that I burned my whole face and frontal neck 2 years ago (I'm 20 btw), wit
  20. Hello there, I am a longtime lurker and set up this account to share my story. I am a 30 year old female, and have been dealing with what I thought was hormonal, adult-onset acne for the past several years. I have an eating-disordered history, largely the result of attempting to avoid foods that seemed to trigger my acne. I have been vegetarian for 10 years, vegan most of those (including at present). I have a degree in holistic health, and was a raw foodist for a year. My acne went
  21. So I recently went to my dermatologist yesterday and my mom asked her if certain foods like dairy, eggs, chocolate, sugar will trigger acne? And the dermatologist said no. And with that, my mom and dad have now been forcing me to eat foods like eggs, noodles, milk because they said its good for your body. I've been on a regular diet for almost a year now which consists of brown rice, spinah and fish and it has gotten rid of my acne. Now all of my hard work on losing weight and getting rid of acn
  22. Hello. I usually don't post on here much but I kind of found something interesting about my own skin and it's connection with "acne".. **This will probably be a wall of text.. So just to give a little background of myself.. Prior to turning 18, I never had a single pimple in my life. It was only after 18 did I start getting pimples and bumps on my skin which would get inflamed, and eventually cause a bit of pain. I'm 22 now and it's been quite a painful road.. Mainly because at times, this
  23. So I just finished a 5 month course of Accutane. I was on 60mg for 2 months, and the last 3 were 80 mg. I have to say it was horrible at first, i had huge disgusting breakouts that were so embarrassing. It was hell for about 3 months. My face slowly started to clear but throughout my treatment it has never been completely clear which has been disappointing. Now I am done and have just 2 large pimples on my face. otherwise I am completely clear and I love it. I just have a couple of questions

    Acne and allergies

Hello everyone, I for the most part have good skin. I started getting cystic acne starting i don't know when. I went to dermatologists and they would prescribe retin-a, tazorac, and aczone. Last year it took almost a whole year for retin-a to finally make a change. my skin was perfect. Until it wasn't. I got off it and my skin was doing great. Which made me happy cause I no longer want to take medication or use medicated creams. Now Im breaking out terribly on my cheeks. The lady that was doin
