    day 1 - 25 accutane

I have had acne since age 10! It is mainly hormonal and oily spots. I basically been on anti-biotic for 6 year trying to treat it but its persistent! My acne compared to some cases ive seen is mild. I have lots of little pimps on my forehead, cheeks, and breakout regularly in some puss spots but no cysts etc. However i thought i'd grow out of acne but 8 years on it's still persistent! I always denied accutane as i was young and didn't want to deal with the side effects like dry skin and mood swi
  2. Hi readers, I apologize for not updating in awhile, but I hadn't had much change to write about until now. I just entered my 4th month on Zenatane and have noticed a few new things. First off, my skin is about 99% clear right now! Its a wonderful feeling to be able to just walk outside without any makeup on and feel confident. I have noticed some minor scaring and a few very tiny ice pick marks but I am trying not to be too concerned about them because I know isotretenoin can make scars more
  3. Hello everyone, I've had moderate acne since I was 12/13 (I believe my acne is mostly hormonal and make up related). I'm turning 27 this month, and my struggle has only worsened through adulthood (until recently). I'm sharing my regiment with the world with hope that it will help some of you. (Also note, I just purchased the basic kit through this site, and I will update once used for 30 days). *Failed attempts include: antibiotics, Spirolactone, topical Retinol, ProActive, endless over the co
  4. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I feel like last time I was on Accutane I saw more improvement at this point. Today is the end of Week 3 and while my hair and skin is less oily, my lips are on fire, my acne remains very much present and angry-looking. Last time I was on 60mg; this time I'm on 50. Maybe the difference in dosage really makes that much of a difference. No side effects, aside from dry lips. I have a blood test coming up on Thursday and I'm dreading it. When I was on Accu
  5. Recap: 20mg in the morning; 30mg in the evening. Female, 32, cystic hormonal acne. Second time on Accutane. My skin hasn't improved at all, in that there is still a stead influx of breakouts, consistent with before I started the medication. What has changed is that the breakouts are far less painful and shrink more rapidly. I can have a massive cyst form on Day 1, and by Day 3 it's already on its way back down. My oiliness has remained consistent with pre-Accutane, so I continue to use my
  6. So it's been yet another week! If you're keeping up with my journey then you'll know that I recently went back to my 80mg a day. So far, it's worked fabulously. My skin has cleared up from my acne that I had before. There is still some there but not... a whole lot. My neck has majorly improved. I have some pictures in my album that aren't uploading at this exact moment but keep an eye out! Unfortunately, the paronychia has also returned. I've been trying to take my 2, 40mg pills as fa
  7. Greetings ladies and gentlemen, So, it’s been yet another week but it’s been pretty easy I guess. I was off of my accutane for 6 days. Why? Well I guess my insurance covers accutane but only under the name of “zenatane” so every time my derm writes the prescription for “accutane”, my insurance doesn't allow my pharmacy to fill it and phone calls have to be made and it takes forever. So, it was not filled until the night of my last day to pick it up when I was completely unavailable so calls to
  8. Hi all! I’m a 34 year old mom of three, just starting on Accutane. I’ve chosen the low dose, extended treatment time for a few reasons: first, I’m past childbearing, my husband has a vasectomy and I’m already on birth control (Yaz) so any birth defect issues are exceptionally unlikely. Second, I get terrible cold sores specifically when my lips get chapped or sunburned, so we are hoping the lower dose = a little bit less dryness of the lips. And 3rd, I almost never drink anyway, so abstaining fr
  9. I started developing severe cystic acne when I was 20. They were huge red cysts with three heads each that would grow on both cheeks (almost symmetrically), and wouldn't stop being inflamed for two weeks at a time. It was ugly and really painful, and they left marks that would not go away for atleast three months and scars that are still on my cheeks. As I went from acne-free to covered in horrible red acne and scars on my face I became depressed and lost five kgs. I also started to *lose m
  10. hi, so I've been struggling with acne since I was about 13, but recently it has flared up as a result of the birth control pill that I started in late June-early July. I've been on 5 different medications that have all failed (duac, zineryt, differin, oxytetracycline and lymecycline), switched to a vegan diet in April and plus have tried every single over-the-counter method (like everyone). yet nothing is working! I exercise regularly (dancing and occasional running and gym) yet I still look
  11. Im 14 nearly 15 and I've had acne and oily skin since I was 10 (i know I was young), but suddenly my oily skin has gone and in my t-zone it's normal and the rest of my skin is dry. Does this mean that my acne is going? As it has dulled down a bit lately. I just thought that I'm too young for my acne to go already, even though I wish it would.

    Day 72

Had a nose bleed this morning, other than that still nothing new. Got a painful one on my lower cheek tho
  13. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Face is finally improving along with my neck. Got some small blemishes here and there but thank god it's clearing up! Still have 4 or 5 cystic heads but at least they don't hurt and they're not red anymore.
  14. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

General update. The right side of my face is currently the worst.
  15. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

Picture for reference. Going into my 3rd month and have been off of the meds for 6 days now due to pharmacy issues. Face has kinda calmed down and you can see my chest getting kinda bumpy but not red. You can see my face is kinda red and it really is like that all the time. Luckily, make up covers it fine.

Picture for reference. Going into my 3rd month and have been off of the meds for 6 days now due to pharmacy issues. Face has kinda calmed down and you can see my chest getting kinda bumpy but not red. That line of cystic/ pustular acne on the right side of chin has been with me for a WHILE now - can't remember how long but it's been at least a month if not the whole process. You can see my face is kinda red and it really is like that all the time. Luckily, make up covers it fine.

Pictures mostly for reference but my neck acne is getting pretty bad.

So... who knew ingrown toenails were a side effect of accutane?? Not me!! This is a cleaned up picture of it. Before, it had scabbed over and the top was crusty but the part closes to my skin was still soft, meaning that it was, at that time, open or had recently been open. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX THIS... please? It hurts
  20. From the album: Accutane (Zenatane) Journey

So, based on the picture I posted yesterday, you can 100% see that my acne is getting worse more along my cheeks and forehead now though there are some heads popping up along the very bottom of my chin and jawline. Pictures on the Left are of the peeling (both of my face and lips) on a daily basis even after a good mask worth of moisturizing lotion. Pictures on the Right are of my face AFTER washing it with my Neutrogena Gentle Face Wash, exfoliating with just a towel while the skin is still
