This was about 2 and a half weeks ago, where I had acne and was on my GP prescription of Duac Gel and an antibiotic. It took very long to start to function and my acne and scarring was blue and purple. It's disgusting. I guess the medication they prescribe in the UK is very mild and hardly ever make a difference, as opposed to the Indian medication which works wonders, however - does dry the skin out. I can smell bleach (Domestos) when I am applying the face wash which makes me very scared
  2. Is anyone on here familiar with using silicone for post inflammatory erythema (PIE)? The red marks that you get from acne that take forever to go away? I've seen a handful of people on the internet claiming that silicone gel or sheets can help with PIE. Is there anyone currently suffering with these post acne marks that is using silicone and can confirm that it is giving good results? If so how well is it working, and how are you using the silicone? The amount of information on how to get r
  3. Accidentally made two posts. How do I delete this?
  4. I've been using the following products for 1 month based on the recommendations of my first dermatologist visit: Cefuroxime Axetil (Ceftin) 500mg pills - 2x day Cerave Foaming Cleanser - 2x day Benzyol Peroxide 5% Wash - 1x day (use and wash off in shower) Clindamycin Face lotion - 2x day (leave on) Cerave Moisturizer - 2x day My cystic acne has cleared up a little bit after 1 month. He said it would be 60-80% gone after 2-3 months. Now I am left with the following red marks on my ch
  5. Hello everybody, just someting I wanted to share with you guys because it might help someone else in the future: I've been reading these boards throughout the years because just like most of you I have had pretty serious acne since I was 14 or something. Now 26. I've been on all sorts of medications (accutane 3 times) but eventually, around my 18th birthday I discovered Dan's regimen and it worked wonders for me. I have been following it ever since. Never experienced bad scaling or redness or
  6. Hi everyone, I've been having a lot of trouble with my face lately and have been trying to post here but had no luck so hopefully I can get lucky and have someone put me in the right direction. I have a lot of (what I think is) post acne marks along with actual acne and on the side of my nose is just a patch of redness. I've had this for over 3 years and I'm not really sure what I should be doing and what I shouldn't be doing. I'm also not sure what is even wrong with my face. I tried derma roll
  7. Hello everyone! This is my 2nd time posting here so forgive me if I made a mistake in terms of where I am posting. So I had perfect skin up until I turned 20. I never washed my face or put moisturizer on and I had clear skin that wasn't dry or anything. Then I cut my hair extremely short and I started breaking out. Then I began using olive oil to clean off my make up and I think that's where it all went down hill. I'm left with these red marks. They are a huge cluster of bumps on both s
  8. Hi all, I've read up a lot about PIH in the past. I have a lot of scars from a break out last year that are still here. They are mostly reddish/dark spots, some of them have a very slight indentation, some are smooth. Almost all on the sides of my cheek, though a handful on my forehead as well. Recently I learned about post inflammatory erythema (PIE), and I think I may actually have that, not PIH. So quite possibly, I've been treating the spots wrong since I have used methods to treat PIH,
  9. Hi! I used to have quite the case of acne and it left all these discolourations behind. I've been battling red marks since I was 12 and high school is coming up and I'm beyond scared to show up like this. I'm not sure if it's hyperpigmentation or post-acne erythema.. I'm using Dan's AHA every night and SPF 110 every morning. I've been using it for eight months now to no avail. The pictures might be blurry, you just have to click on them. Not sure why it does that. Any recommendations? Th

From the album: My Acne Scar Healing Process

I started this course of the Indian medications on Friday 26th December 2014, so it has only been about three days I have been taking this. I don't think this major improvement is due to these medications though as I have only started it for about 3 days. However, if it was - it works wonders! In the first picture, the acne scarring and the acne is inflamed and almost blue. In this picture about 2-3 weeks later, I can see a big improvement. The scars are more pink and less red and purple tha
  12. I am a darker skin person (somewhere between types 4 and 5). This is what I learned about acne and post acne discolorations: First of all, if you get acne/bumps, find out the cause. Many times the cause is the skin or hair care products you use. It could also be because of something you eat - a food or supplement. It could be a maintenance routine like shaving or waxing. When you have acne, try dropping all topicals for a while except like a standard sunscreen and face wash/soap that you kno
  13. Hi, I have had horrible acne since freshman year of highschool. Now i'm in my 30's and only get the occasional pimple but it goes away fairly quickly without leaving a scar. My PIE and Scarring, on the other hand, has been the same for 10+ years. The redness has faded VERY SLOWLY over the years but doesn't seem to be fading any more. What are my options? Sorry for the blacked out marker. I'm embarrassed
  14. Hi. I'm having subcision with fillers a in a weeks and hopefully that will help the indentions a little bit. I am still wondering about the redness though, does it ever go away? I heard scars remain red while they heal but I haven't had acne for 2 years and 4 months and they are still red. Does any of the people here with older acne scars still have this redness? To make things clear; the redness I'm talking about isn't PIH, it's blood underneath that should go away when the scar is healed (I
  15. Hey. I have some issues with what I think are closed comedones on my forehead. The problem is that I don't know how to treat them because my forehead is often very tight and irritated for some reason. Sometimes after I shower I can feel it burn and if I go look in my bathroom mirror I can see red irritated spots. So I'm afraid to put AHA or BHA on my forehead because it's already irritated. I've tried using moisturizer (CeraVe) but it doesn't really make a difference. I'm using Paula's Choice 2%
  16. So what is this? 1) The first picture was taken in February 2014, and the second one is taken now in June 2014. It was first a little pimple I guess, that I tried to pop or scratch... I was on accutane and finished my course 2 months ago... So it became a scab and then a brown mark. After that I was growing a beard and hiding it, but I don't like my beard, and now it has become pink skin. You can't really see it very well on the picture, but in real life you can see it from far since it's s
  17. hi everyone, im a new member. i've been extremely depressed for the last two months. At the end of Aug, I had an ablative laser treatment to remove four black dots on my nose. Ten days later, the scabs were gone but there were four red/pink dots left. The derm told me that they would be gone in one month. However, it's been almost two months and they are still there, very noticable and much bigger than the original size of the black dots. I tried many skin cares during the past several weeks, VC
  18. I thought I would start a new topic as I ordered Dermatix Silicone Gel today, primarily for the use of my Post Inflammatory Erythema and Shallow Scarring. As I have said on previous topics, I have spent a lot of time researching what this Post Inflammatory Erythema is with little luck and information on it... I did however find something quite interesting on it, which others whom are suffering from may be interested to read... http://vc-mimlabs.s3.amazonaws.com/files/2013-01-24-16/Chernoff.
  19. Hello! I have had a medium sized patch of redness on my face for the past two years or so. I don't actually know what caused it, but I think it may have been from a small ingrown hair infection I had. It does not change and does not get worse, so I haven't ever been concerned about it, but I recently went to the dermatologist to try to find an answer and was told it was "possibly erythema due to telangiectasia". He said, if this is the case, there is no medicine to alleviate the redness. D
