  1. Hello! So I just hit day 11 and am in hibernation mode inside my apartment until this delightful initial breakout clears up. Seriously I've been in my apartment for the last 2 days and thought that keeping a log here would be a better way to track progress and stay sane over the next few months. Some background: I am a 25 year old female with moderate, persistent acne on my face and back, and very oily, sensitive skin. I've had some form of acne since 8th grade. I've tried various antibiotic
  2. Hello out there, I'm posting this today because I need help. Not just with figuring out my skin problem, but emotionally this is taking a big tole. I have been doing a lot of research on my skin, as I've had this rash-like condition on my face for months. Over the course of the holidays It's been much, much worse. I really think it could be a condition called acne cosmetica. Acne caused by cosmetics. In my case, I've been using a mineral makeup, but it seems like the more I cover the problem,
  3. Hey guys, The winter made my skin hella dry - so dry that it began to crack and peel. I recently switched from Purpose cleanser to Cerave Hydrating Facial Wash and it seems to helping a little with the peeling but I still get very oily. Given, it's only been two days I've been on this but I was wondering if anyone else had an adjustment period and saw progress eventually? My current regimen for morning and night is: wash - Cerave Hydrating Facial Wash, tone with a quick pat down of 50/50 apple
  4. I have finally decided to give accutane a try. It was offered to me when I was a teen and my family wouldn't let me take it. Too many really scary side effects. Now, at 36, know that my two kiddos are all I will be having, I have decided to go for it. In my mid 20's my acne really cleared up and I was able to manage it with OTC's and makeup. In January my mother died. It was a very unexpected and stressful event. I think I experienced a type of stress my body has never experienced before.
  5. Hi, I've been taking 60mg of accutane for a little less than the last two months and within the last week my side effects have dissipated. With that being said my skin has also dramatically improved within the last week as well. Both of these coincide with me starting my second perscription package of accutane. So my question is, is this a normal part of the treatment, have I gotten lucky with side affects or is this some how signally that the medication isn't working? Thanks in advanced for
  6. I live in a very dry desert climate and am wondering if anyone else on the regimen is dealing with dry skin and a dry climate? I am currently only using acne.org products and cannot wait more than 5 minutes between applying products due to the dryness and I am always flaky and wrinkles are showing more. I do run humidifiers, but it is so dry here I wonder if jojoba oil is enough with no humidity or if there is another non-pore clogging moisturizer that works better in dry air. Before starting
  7. On accutane and use nars sheer glow as my current foundation when i want to wear foundation- but sometimes i dont want to wear foundation but want some coverage while moisturizing my skin throughout the day- now there are probebly countless of topics on BB creams but i wanted advice for me. Anyways as i said im on accutane (60mg per day) so my skin is errr pretty dry, actually thats an understatement- its like spongebob without water. Okay so i will get straight to the point- thinking a BB cream
  8. Hi Everyone! This is my first time reaching out to anyone nonetheless a lot of anyones! I'm almost 23 years old and I've spent the last 12 years struggling with acne. Not only does it bother me in the physical sense but it has gotten to the point where I can't be in fully lit rooms for fear of people seeing my skin (even with makeup on) and I have avoided mirrors unless I'm face planted into one looking at all the bumps. I have tried OTC remedies, all natural ingredients remedies, all the kit
  9. Hi Just wondering what your skin was like after accutane? Did it go back to being dry or oily, or did it become normal? Thanks
  10. So I used differing .3% for a while, it eventually worked pretty well, but i still had redness and some red marks. i took a break from it, didn't wash my face that much. Acne didn't come back, but lots of clogged pores, premature aging and roughness came. If you stop using retinoids cold turkey, does it cause clogged pores and aging? or was that from not washing my face? I started washing my face with dove soap, and used differing twice over the last week, and my skins improving, can
  11. Hi! The Regimen destroyed my skin. I have never had any troubles with too dry skin, so I have always been able to use foundation and get a good coverage. Recently, after I was on The Regimen (and got a major allergic reaction), my skin is superdry. I use moisture every night and every day, but even though my skin is oily and moist, it's still dry. When I apply foundation it looks terrible. I used to be able to use foundation and it looked naturally, now people have been coming up to
  12. So I've been using The Regimen for about 2 and half months now and my skin is partly clear. There's still some hyper pigmentation from old pimples and my skin is still a little bumpy. However, my skin is really flaky and red and moisturizer doesn't really help, leaving my skin looking really parched. The moisturizer seems like it just lays on top of the dead skin and it makes my face look oily as well. I really want to scrub my face, but I don't since irritation = acne. I use Dan's AHA+ every 3
  13. My cousin showed me this regimen for acne that she tried herself and she also has moderate acne like mine. Her skin is the clearest I have ever seen on a human being. I paid 145 dollars and after using the sulfur face wash, scar lightening toner, benzoyl peroxide dual treatment gel and oil free moisturizer, my skin has gone from an oil slick to DRY. My skin peels off in CHUNKS. The past week I've only used the wash and toner and using baby lotion for the dryness and it's still flaking off.
  14. Soo I've been on Tretinoin Cream and Monodox for 5 months now. My acne is getting better.. still gets really bad every now and then. I used to have no acne at all. I decided to go on birth control and my body freaked out on every pill I tried. I finally had to give up. During the time I was struggling with birth control, I started to get horrible acne and really really really oily skin. Even though I haven't been on a pill for about 7 months now, my acne is still bad and my skin is still awfull
  15. I am 16 years old and i started my proactiv plus journey february 12, 2014. I thankfully never suffered through severe acne throughout my life. I usually got occasional pimples which started when i entered high school, which is normal for any teenage girl. Throughout my freshman and sophomore year in high school, my skin was normal, again had occasional pimples like any other teen, and it went away in a few days/weeks. (Also, i personally noticed i never had any breakouts or any acne during
  16. Hey everyone, I'm kinda new here so wasn't sure where to post this. I used BP for a few weeks a while ago but I stopped because it made my skin so horribly dry and red and raw, and now a few months later I'm suffering from dry patches in the areas I applied it. It's not flaking or anything but when I put on foundation you can definitely see it. I'm currently taking erythromycin which is what I used to get rid of my mild acne and I haven't broken out since I was on it but I have to keep t
  17. I have been on regimen for 7 mo. and still get extremely dry skin. I use the equate brand I think of cetaphil Cream and put few drops of jojoba everytime I do it. Am I using the wrong moisturizer. I heard Dans sucks so im gonna steer clear of that.
  18. 3 days ago all of a sudden I noticed rash like rough skin just by my mouth on the right side and now it's extending upwards towards my cheek though its still mostly around my mouth. Initially, I thought it was a reaction to something I had eaten so I tried treating it with an antihistamine but it didn't really help. Then I thought it may be dry skin and I tried a hydrating mask but it didn't help either. Now I really don't know what it is because they seem like really tiny bumps that can only be
  19. So about 3 weeks ago, my doctor had me start using benzoyl peroxide cream and tretinoin cream. In the morning, I was told to wash my face with cetaphil cleanser and apply benzoyl peroxide to my entire face. In the night, I was told to use a neutrogena cleanser and apply tretinoin to my face. My forehead and nose are normally very oily while my cheeks and my chin are normal. Most of my acne is on my forehead (not too severe) while my cheeks are mild and my jawline is moderate. I followed the reg

  21. Hi guys! I am on my second week of the regimen and have started getting really dry skin. Since I use a mineral foundation I need to find a foundation that is liquid and won't exaggerate my dry skin like the mineral foundation does. Most of us know the tormenting quest of finding the perfect foundation can be. So here is something I found that may help a few of you get some coverage without wasting your time, energy, and money looking for a new product. This is a great solution because y
  22. Hi, although i'm new to the forum i've been following for over a year and i've finally decided to post. My acne is mild most of the time though sometimes it can become pretty moderate for a period. I've managed to clear it before using a light cleanser and jojoba oil in the evening only but i'm always looking to simplify my regimen so i dont have to go to bed with oil all over my face and keep such a strict skincare regimen. My skin used to be really oily and i never used a moisturiser after
  23. I've had flaky skin from BP for 8 months and I can't take it anymore, so I am changing up the regimen to meet my needs, and I want everyone's advice and input. I'm willing to do ANYTHING to stop my skin from flaking. (btw I suffer from acne, so using too little bp I will break out) WHAT I DO NOW: Mornin': Cleanser, 1 pump BP, 2 pumps moisturizer + 5 drops of jojoba Night: Same thing WHAT I USE: CeraVe foaming facial cleanser, acne.org bp, cerave moisturizing lotion, acne.org jojoba oil W
  24. Hey all, I am new to these boards and just wanted to get some feedback on my current situation. So, here it goes: Over the summer, my face really cleared up and looked normal. During this time, I used dove unscented sensitive skin beauty bar to wash my face mostly, and used an antibacterial face wash pretty much every other night instead of using the dove bar 2x that day. It seemed to be fine for me. However, since the end of summer, I have been dealing with a lot of these tiny white bumps
  25. I was prescribed a cumulative dosage of around 14 000 mg over 11 months finishing Nov 2010. I had only minor acne, hormonal and persistent. I weigh 54kg./ = 266.67 mg per kg and am suffering severe side effects since including: Severe dry hair & hair loss - well over 70% and continuing. No regrowth 18 mnths later massive skin issues - severe dry, tight ashy skin, painful, subcutaneous fat loss brittle nails joint problems sleep disturbance dry mouth, nose etc Has anyone ever
