  1. Hey guys! I'm so glad to be getting some feedback on this blog from you! I am more than willing to answer any and all questions you wanna ask me, so please never hesitate to leave comments! Anyways, I'm approaching my last week of month 2 and I'm starting to see some real results...hooray! After increasing my dosage to 60mg, I did experience another initial breakout which was a bit disheartening but totally normal. As of now, my forehead is a bit of a war zone again but below my eyebrows
  2. Hi everyone, When deciding on Accutane I didn't realize how vigorous and demanding going on the drug was. If you've been struggling with persistent acne like a lot of us out there, Accutane seems like the holy grail of acne medicine. Many dermatologists recommend that people who are interested in going on Accutane need to explore other options (if they haven't already) such as doxycycline or azithromycin to fight acne. These are antibiotics that target the acne-causing bacteria from within the
  3. I started thinking that maybe my last post was a little spammy so I'm just gonna say real quick that I am in no way affiliated with Clarisonic or any distributor. I've been lusting after one for about a year now and scored a good Black Friday deal lol so that being said - DANG! It has been so cool and dry in SoCal lately, my skin will not stop looking red and peeling! I don't want to kick Triretnoin from my regimen so I decided I'm going to back off the Clarisonic a little bit and only do it
  4. I went to dermatology today. It turns out you see the nurse for your pregnancy test, to talk about any side effects and get your prescription. You don't see the derm until the end of month three. I told her about my very dry hands and arms and she told me my dose stays the same until I see the derm. The nurse did say that if my skin continues to be so dry, I will probably stay on a low dose because as long as my total dose is right for my weight it doesn't matter in what way I take it, it will
  5. Hi everyone! So this is my week 8 of using differin. Last week was a mess. Still, this week is a mess. I have 2 whiteheads on right cheek and one on left cheek. This week I also apply benzac 5% for 20 minutes and wash out before washing my face with cleaser in both morning and evening. Acne reacted to benzac quite well but it leaves dry skin. I will keep using benzac but lower the time to 15 mins. My major problem for this week is scars which appear all over my face. Both left and right cheek

    End Of Week 11

Oh I am so sorry guys - January has been a particularly crazy month....! So in my last post it was end of week 8 and I have seen some great results. Really, the only thing that I have to deal with now is the scarring. Mine is so bad from all the awful blemishes and my complete inability to NOT mess with them.... As I can't exfoliate or use any products that encourage peeling etc. I will just have to let time run it's course. I did think about perhaps using BioOil, as people seem to see res

    End Of Week 8

Hola All, Merry Christmas!! I hope you all celebrated in style with lots of family and loved ones! My apologies - I have missed Week 7 as I have been on holiday in China over Christmas and a lot of websites are banned there, including this one! However I am pleased to say that all is still going well with the treatment. I am starting to notice more severity in the side effects, my hands are starting to crack and I'm having to moisturise them as much as my lips...(accutane still has N
  8. Night Routine: So I found the solution to the extremely uncomfortable skin problem. Someone somewhere (thank you so much, Sir/Madam) mentioned that exfoliating with jojoba oil before the treatment step was a good way of keeping dry skin at bay, however I was a bit worried that doing that would influence the effectiveness of the benzoyl peroxide afterward. Instead, I used a very generous amount of jojoba oil and massaged it into my skin before doing the cleanser step. I let the jojoba
  9. I'm thinking I'll have to dilute the BP. Its drying my skin quite a bit. And I have to be careful not to get it in the eye area! Super sensitive skin man! Not like I get bumps there. Any one using 5% BP got suggestions? Do you dilute it? I cant stand to grease my face up with any more moisturizer or jojoba oil! The skin mites on my face are starting to send letters of complaint about it. I got a new pimple. Under my nostril in the war zone. That is where most of my break outs have been occur
  10. I haven't washed my face for 2 days now and surprisingly I haven't broke out, my red marks are starting to fade and I'm developing a slight glow in my skin. Honestly, no treatment I have ever bought has worked as fast as this. My skin still feels a little dry and irritated, especially at night, but I'm hoping this will go away eventually. As for what I actually do in terms of washing/not washing ; I take a warm (not hot) shower every morning and wash my hair, I don't make an effort to wash
  11. So, day 5-16 were interesting. I no longer feel anxious and can sleep at night, which is quite a relief. I just make sure to take the 2nd dose of accutane before 3pm, Does anyone know how much time you are supposed to keep between doses? In other news, my skin is SERIOUSLY DRYING UP. This is great for acne treatment, but truly itchy and even a bit painful. My face is peeling and my lips are extremely dry. I cannot go anywhere without lip balm and lotion my skin about 5-6 times a day My
  12. So my skin is VERY different from when I started accutane. For the past 2 weeks I have been moved up my dosage. RECAP-- (If you're new--read my other posts) -30 mg for 2 weeks -60 mg for 1.5 weeks--too much too soon--BAD Initial Breakout -30 mg odd days, 60 mg even days for 1.5 weeks ***60 mg every day for the past 2 weeks Moving Up Doses Had SOME Side Effects: ((Went from 30 on odd days to 60 on even days)) to 60mg every day. ***DO NOT FREAK OUT FROM THIS LIST--the dryness
  13. So I know this might sound stupid or weak, but I stayed home today...mostly because of my acne. I knew that for my recent acne red marks/ scabs to heal, I had to moisturize them and not wear makeup.. I just couldn't bear to even slap on makeup and go through my whole day making my face worse (potentially). This is why I hate acne...It makes me cowardly and so self-conscious. I'm really hoping that this 2nd week was my Initial Breakout (kind of like last time) and that now that my (overly
  14. So, if you are just starting to read my blog, I'm back on Accutane because I only did 3 months at 40mg before. Previous 3 Month Experience with Accutane I was on Accutane from the end of July to October (about 3 months) when I had an issue with a failed birth control method. My derm wanted me to go off Accutane for a couple of months until we knew that I would not have issues with taking it again. I was disappointed at the time, because it truly was an accident, but I completely understood
  15. Day 10 First 5 days: Hey everyone so today is day 10 of being on 40mg everyday. The first 5 days I didn't notice any significant changes, however I did get a cluster of 4 big whiteheads around my chin/jawline. I was unsure if this was because of the Accutane or because I was about to start my period in a few days? I am going to assume the acne was a result of both the Accutane and my hormones because I usually never get such bad acne on my jawline. Day 6-10: On day 6 is when I started to not
  16. Making this post just because I was thinking about how much this account helped me when I was struggling so bad. I now get a pimple once in a while, I get less anxiety about them and don't freak out about pimples like I used to. I could not thank accutane or this blog enough for getting me through a tough time. I also and still using the acne.org moisturizer and I love it. I won't put anything else on my skin.Heres some updated pictures.

    Higher Dosage

Ok so 1 month on accutane i went back to my doctor. Struggling with dry lips thats it on a month of 40mg. On Friday i will start on my revised dosage of 70mg. Safe to say i'm shitting one! Any advice welcome. I am scared of the dry skin now almost double my dose!!! Let you know how i get on
  18. Skin Condition Skin redness seems to be minimal like it usually is Lots of acne marks still on my cheeks, one whitehead on my left cheek No whiteheads on my chin this morning which is a nice surprise Just like yesterday my skin was quite dry and flakey. Dryness around my pimples (yay) Not as dry around my eyes as yesterday (yay) Not as dry around my mouth (yay) But this is still the dryest area of my face my forehead looks relativel
  19. Hey everyone! So quite a bit has happened over the past few days. THE AWFUL MISTAKE OF USING SALICYLIC ACID WITH BENZOYL PEROXIDE: A few days ago I made the horrible mistake of using Salicylic Acid toner while using my regimen that contains Benzoyl Peroxide. BAD idea. BAD, BAD, BAD idea. Even though I applied it to 2 zits on my chin using a Q-Tip, it literally burnt out my skin to the point where it felt like someone had numbed my chin! It was AWFUL! I was really worried (as I should h
  20. Sigh. I just can't seem to buck up today. I have one weird red bump-ish thing on my left cheek that doesn't want to go away. It's painful to touch, so I'm not even going to mess with it. I'm just going to try to forget it's there and apply concealer over it. My red mark on my forehead is healing (thank goodness). There's still a small red bump/clogged pore on my right cheek. I'm hoping that my regimen tonight will either make it turn into a whitehead and go away, or dry it up. Otherwise
  21. So I have spring break in TWO weeks, which is going to be great with the sun on my face and back. I need some vitamin D! I take vitamin D supplements every now and then, but i want the real stuff. Anyway, the reason I am back on here is to look at my progress that I made last year with my acne, and see if I can do anything about my current situation. Face: three large cysts on chin (always the trouble spot) and multiple, around 10, spots on the rest of my face. Localized mstly on the forehea
  22. 27/F/ CT NOTE: I will update THIS entry every 5 days for the duration of my treatment to track the progress/side effects. I've been struggling with acne and large pores since I was 13. Moderate, sometimes mild, but persistent. Enough lesions, redness, enlarged pores, blackheads, and scarring to feel very uncomfortable going out in public without makeup on to cover everything. In my teen years it was everywhere: face, chest and back. Chest acne went away sometime in highschool, but the ba
  23. I am a british 19 year old girl of who has been to hell and back in order to cure her acne. I get the occassional cystic spot but the majority of my spots are milia like. The week before my period I always break out badly around my mouth/chin/cheeks. I have tried every topical cream and every antibiotic known to man - but to no avail. I first went to go and see my GP and the age of 13 about my spots, although not that bad they really crush my confidence. I only started being really aware of my s
  24. Hey guys! So I've taken my seventh pill of Claravis. For the most part I feel fine. I haven't noticed any improvement and my acne is only slightly worse than before I started accutane. My face is starting to get more dry. But it is definitely not too bad and I can still wear makeup, although by the end of the day my face looks cakey with makeup. My lips are starting to peel and it feels like I have a sunburn on them. However, this also is not very bad and is easily manageable with aqua
  25. My skin continues to do pretty well. I try to eat as healthy as possible, I don't pick at my skin, except for blackheads because they drive me crazy, but I'm trying to stop that because i know my skin will get better if I do. I'm exerciseing a lot and so far not much bacne besides the one or two spots. I had a big HUGE cyst on my chin this week tho..and I'm sorry to say I picked..but it hurt soo much and it was KILLING me! I HAD to get that crap out. But either way, its healing up now, theres ju
