  1. Let's see I guess i'll start off by giving you a little idea of who I am. I'm a twenty something year old who works with dogs in sunny Southern California. I enjoy everything the outdoors has to offer. My favorite things to do are hiking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking You name it! I've always struggled with hormonal acne, but not until a couple years ago I started breaking out with tiny little nodules under my skin, and soon they spread ALL over my cheeks, and chin. Thanks t
  2. I'm 16 and i've been taking doxy for over roughly 2 years now. I have been on and off with my doxy changing from 100mg to 50mg depending on my skin breakout. I'm afraid of being resistant to antibiotics, my skin has cleared up a lot and i'm afraid that if i stop my antibiotics my skin will suddenly start to breakout.

    Please Help

I have a few questions regarding my current acne treatment and any kind of help or insight would be really appreciated. I'm a 25 year old guy with oily skin, have been doing acne treatments on and off for the past 10 years or so. Unfortunately, I have had a very bad luck with dermatologists and I can honestly say that not one treatment has helped me for more than a month tops. I have been using Glycolic Acid 20%, a tone adjustment cream for the past 7 months (because my skin got disastrously

    Day 1 Of 90

So, I finally went to the dermatologist yesterday. All of the OTC products just weren't doing it for me. Plus, I wasn't as compliant as I should have been. But since it's prescribed I will likely be consistent this time, hopefully - it's all psychological. I'm actually really excited! And praying that this fixes this acne nightmare, especially with me being 24 years old. So, I have the following: Doxycyline 100mg twice a day Duac/Benzaclin in the morning Retin-A at night As far as fac
  5. Im suffering from severe acne right now, it came to a point that i suffered depression and even suicide attempts. I used to have a clear skin, after quitting smoking i got hormonal imbalance. At noticed 3-4 bumps at first but after a month it just exploded and covered my entire face. I really don't know what to do anymore. I went to the derma, and prescribed me doxy for 2 months. Im on my 3rd week and the cystic acnes seem to tame down. But i still got hundreds of closed comedones and acne scar
  6. Just shy of the 2 month mark! I've had some ups and downs, but am still feeling confident this will be a good long-term solution. Taking 100mg/day of spiro and have tried to slowly taper off the doxycycline, which I've been taking 200mg/day of since August. I didn't think it was helping, but over the last 2 weeks every time I lower my doxy dose, I have a breakout! So maybe it was helping after all. I don't mind the daily spiro since I know that's okay for long-term use, but the antibiotics are r

My Doxycycline & Retin A Log

Hello all! Welcome to my Doxycycline (100mg) and Retin-A (.025%) log. I will try to update this as much as I can throughout my journey, and I hope at least one person from this website finds it to be helpful or interesting. A Little Bit of Background Information I am a 15 year old, teenage girl who
  8. So i took doxycycline for about 6 months and i finished that around july. My acne is much better than what it was before but im breaking out a little bit again. I was wondering if i could just start taking the doxy whenever i start breaking out again because i still have some pills left or is that not a good thing to do??
  9. Hi everyone! I really hope I get at least one reply! lol I have been browsing this site for a while and reading up about many treatments I have tried to treat my hormonal acne! Unforuntaely, I also suffer from rosacea and perioral dermatitis (though these are pretty much under control now THANK GOODNESS). Anyway, my new derm just gave me Spiro. I am to take 100 mg a day (50 mg in the morning. 50 mg in the evening.) MY QUESTIONS: * Has anyone here started Spiro on 100 mg?? What should expec
  10. I’ve been on 100mg Doxycycline for almost 2 months now. But I still break out with cystic acne whenever my skin comes in contact with sweat, dirt, bacteria, excess oil etc. I have to avoid going to the gym because the sweat breaks me out the next day. I was actually initially prescribed 20mg Accutane by my dermatologist but I had to stop taking it after 5 days due to not been able to tolerate the side effects which were depression, mental fog and fatigue. This is my skin now, keep in mind

From the album: My Journey through Sronyx + Acanya + Doxycycline + Yasmin (and Vi Peel) + Retin-A 0.025 + Differin 0.3% + 1% Clindamycin 5% Benzol Peroxide

Differin, Retin-A, Purity and Fresh Farmacy face wash, Doxy twice a day, Yasmin: About 2 weeks on the new program, definitely notice tiny breakouts on my forehead, and larger pimples popped up on the other side of my face. Crossing my fingers this is just normal, and that it'll go away. The skin between my nose and my cheeks, in that little flap, is super dry: trying not to put it there. Using "Gorgeous" moisturizer from Lush on the dry parts.
  12. Hi guys! So I've been on doxycycline for a month and I'm seeing rapid improvement. My skin is still far from perfect but it's better than it has been in a really long time. A lot of my acne is becoming flat and turning to just scars which I am okay with. I will be starting accutane in a month so I took my first birth control pill today since going on birth control is required. The pill I was prescribed is "Junel fe" and according to the reviews it produces pretty nasty acne. If I am on doxycycli
  13. May be long...... Anyway I had acne since about 12 in late 6th grade,as time went on my acne got worse and worse I'm 14 now at the time right now my acne gotten the worst(30 to 70 lesions) . I've tried everything, from home and over the counter. None worked so we went to the derm and got a prescription for Doxycycline as oral treatment, and Aczone for topical. Why he gave he Doxycycline first is since Accutane or now known as (Isotretinoin) is so expensive ($1,500 a month I think) and since my
  14. Hi everyone It's my first time posting here and was wondering if you could give me some advice (advise?) on the possible treatments for my scars. I'm currently on 50 mg Spironolactone and 100 mg Doxycyline. I started taking them about 7 months ago and my face is pretty much acne free now. It's been that way for almost two months now, but my dermatologist wants me to continue with the medication for another 2 months. Anyway, I'm pretty happy that my acne is gone, but now I'm left with al
  15. Hey everyone, I've been a very old member (check my old posts if interested) and i've been suffering from acne (pustules mostly) since I was 13 (I'm 24 now) and got onto antibiotics for 2 years from (2012-2014). The antibiotics I used were doxycycline and minocycline and worked amazingly well but I became resistant to them. Eventually I stopped using antibiotics as I was getting worried about the impact it has on your gut. After I got off the antibiotics, I realized my acne was completely fo
