  1. I have mild acne but used to have severe acne. recently my doctor prescribed me accutane but the only problem is she is giving it in a much different way than that i have seen on the internet. Her plan is to give 20mg/day until i am clear and then give for a few more months. I am quite sure that it will work but i am very afraid that it will relapse to back to where i started (I am absolutely fine with having some acne once in a while). Iv been digging the internet for the past week, and i think
  2. Hey guys! I'm taking accutane for 5 and a half months now on a low dose of 20mg/day with a weight of 80kg. So, I got as many pills as I could in Germany just right before I went to Australia, where I am staying for the next year. Accutane cleared me up completely and after the second months there was no breakout at all anymore. However, I used to have really bad acne, so I am very afraid that it will come back if i'd stop after the 6th month, when I'm gonna be out of drugs. So making an appoin
  3. Funny story. 2 months ago, I went to a derma, he made me do a blood test then gave me a 2 month supply of accutane for about $60 if I convert to USD. I came back for more accutane after 40 days, he told me to do ANOTHER blood test and wait another week. Hell nah do I got time for that, I'm too busy. So what I did was go to a local pharmacy, apparently they don't *need* a prescription, he just gave me another month supply for $30. I'm living in Saudi Arabia, they aren't so strict on getting

  5. Well,I'm on accutane 50mg daily for over two monthsa and lately I've been having some issues with my pharmacy. MY Pharmacy was out of 10mg ROACCUTANE pills,so gave me 10mg ABSORICA instead.I asked them to inform me if they can manage to get ROACCUTANE. Today,I got a call from them saying the have 10mg Roaccutane now.So my father went to the pharmacy and exchanged the ABSORICA pills with the ROACCUTANE pills. Since he doesn't know anything about my pills,it turned out that though both of them
  6. Hi my name is Andrew and I started accutane in October. I was given 40mg once a day prescribed by my doctor for 2 months. The first few weeks of the second month my skin completely changed and I was becoming so clear, I was very happy. I am currently on my 3rd month right now because I had some break to get my wisdom teeth out. Anyways I'm about half way through 3rd month and this time my doctor prescribed me 80mg when I was a little hesitant because I wanted to try 60mg first. He said no I thin
  7. Hi. Ive been on accutane for nine weeks and this has been my dosage so far: -Week 1 and 2: 20 mg/day -Week 3 and 4: 20 mg and 40 mg every other day -Week 5-9: 40 mg/day My question is: my derm told me one month ago that in about one month (today) I could increase my dosage to 40 mg and 60 mg every other day. But im still breaking out pretty bad, so Im wondering if I should stay on 40 mg/day until it has calmed down, or if I should increase my dosage regardless of my breakout. Im so afraid
  8. Hi Acne.org! I'm a 22 year-old male, 213 lbs, 6.1', and I have moderate/severe cystic and nodular acne. A few days ago, my dermatologist prescribed to me Accutane 100mg/day. I would like your advice. First, I planned to take my first pill this morning. However, I woke up feeling a bit under the weather (i.e. sore throat, a bit congested, a little feverish, etc.). Is it safe to begin my first Accutane course while I'm experiencing these unrelated cold symptoms? Second, I'm concerned a
  9. My birth control was SEVERELY breaking me out, so my derm put me on Spiro. I started at 25 mg for a week, them upped it to 50 for the rest of the month. I wasn't really getting results, so I upped it to 75mg a day for the next 5 weeks or so. I ended up quitting my birth control a month ago and after 2 weeks, I had a wonderful period of about 2 weeks where I completely stopped getting new breakouts--no cysts, no pustules, NOTHING. I got SO excited and thought I was finally healing up from my birt
  10. Hi Guys I just stopped back by this board and was so upset to see so many distraught topic titles. I just want to let you know that there is hope, I understand exactly how you feel, it is AWFUL to have such bad skin...it affects everything you think and do. This was me back in November 2011 And this is me today My course ended in April 2012, and since then the pigmentation has pretty much gone This was my log - please do read it if you are thinking all hope is lost or
  11. I've nothiced that there is a lot of variation as to everyone's dosage and courses of treatment so I though I would start a thread so users could compare thier course dosage, length of treatment, and dosage by weight to other with similar acne. I will start with mine of course and update if there are any changes in the future. Weight: 50 kg (110 lbs) Month 1: 60mg/day Month 2: 60mg/day Projected duration of treatment: 5 months Type of acne: severe Location of acne: face only (mostly
  12. Hi friends, I am a 22 year old guy and I'm suffering from relapsed cystic acne. I took Isotretinoin for the first time 2 years ago ie. when I was 19-20 y.o. I took 40mg/day for the first two months and then increased it to 60mg/day for next 4 months. The cumulative dose came around 130mg/kg as I weighed around 75 kgs (165 lbs) back then. I was suffering from horrible cystic and nodal acne back then (So bad that I didnt dare click a single photo). Now I have deep scars and even tho

  14. Soooo im new to this whole forum thing so yeah hiiiiii I started accutane on the 30th september this year, so 8 days ago. The dermatologist put me on 10 mg every second day, I weigh around 40 kg, Ive read many other forum posts and i have not seen anyone with such a low dosage.. My acne is defiantly not mild, i'd say moderate to serve. Secondly my dermatologist said my course will only be 4 months, and with such a low dosage I really dont think it would be enough to cure my acne problem. N
  15. Hi there, for those of you on the accutane journey, those of you who are considering it and those that have finished. This is my own experience this far. Anyone is welcome to share ) I personally know how discouraging it can be to deal with acne, especially cystic--- the scarring and concerns of further scarring are what finally convinced me this was my next step. I had never dealt with acne until my late 20s. I have tried everything else .... And was willing to try anything... Except accutane
  16. Hello! I wanted to know everyones' opinion and thought on my accutane total target dosage. I'm about 130-135ish pounds (60kg) and about 5'7". I will be finishing my 8th box of accutane (absorica version) with 30 pills/box of 40mg pill for a total of 9600mg over the past 5 months. That comes out to about 160mg/kg. From what I've heard/ read online I should be done. My dermatologist just prescribed me another 2 boxes for a grand total of 12,000 mg over my accutane course which works out 2
  17. Hey everyone, just started taking pantethine after reading about it on here. i'm currently taking 450mg, twice a day. i just wanted to know if anyone has had recent success with it or not, how long did it take? did you break out from it? I have mild acne that is a major annoyance. i have been breaking mostly near my jawline and chin/lower lips area, with small pimples that come to white-heads. i should note that i use dan's cleanser and moisturizer morning and night. dan's AHA for spot
  18. Hello! I have been taking 100 MG of Doxycycline once a day for one month, yet today when I got a refill I realized I am supposed to be taking 100 MG twice a day. Will I have another initial breakout if I increase my dosage to 100 MG twice a day? My skin has not improved much since I started and I assumed that was because it took time, but would a higher dosage help or make it worse? Additional information: I am female, 18 years old, and use Differn 0.3% at night. Any suggestions are app
  19. Has anyone else here been on 120mg/day or more of accutane? I'm a 23y/o male and will be on it 5 months. was also on it when I was 17. During that course I think I was on 40 mg and my acne came back about 5-8 months after. What's your opinions/experiences of high dose accutane especially if you were on 120mg/kg? My dr said that 2mg/kg/day is the effective dose and that he has put his kids on accutane. And has also put olympic caliber athletes on accutane who saw no decrease in their per
  20. I am 19 yes old male weigh around 60 kg (132 lbs). I am on accutane 30mg per day dosage. My question is weather to take it daily or in gaps, i mean I took it on Monday but not on Tuesday then taken on Wednesday but not on Thursday and so on. Part 2 : How long do I need to take the same? Thanks
  21. Hi, I've been on accutane for 3 months now, after a month and half my skin had completed cleared up. I don't have a spot in site now. The first nurse (I've never actually seen the doctor, which worries me) told me 4 months, the next told me 5 and now another is telling me 6. I'm a little bit confused as to why I have to stay on it for so long. My joints hurt so much, I now waddle and limp because my body is in so much pain. I suffer from eczema, but my body is now covered, I've tried so many m
  22. My doctor put me on 60 mg of accutane for the first month... and is it too high for my weight? I'm about 115 pounds 5'4"... And she said if everything goes smoothly, she may bump me up to a higher dosage later... I'm really worried now
  23. Hey guys, another desperate here, A little personal acne CV: I didn't really have acne issues until the age of 19. Out of the blue I began to develop moderate to severe acne, which immensely influenced my self-esteem and ultimately forced me to go on the accutane (after the topical version of accutane failed to show results). This was actually my 3rd time on the accutane, but the times I took it before I only had mild teenager acne AND: neither I ,nor my dermatologist didn't really pay a
  24. *related to my last post Almost 4.5 months done a steady 80mg/day course, and when I went to my derm visit a week ago, he suggested I prolong my course (intended to be 4.5, but now he wants around 5-5.5) and increase my dosage to 120mg/day for 2 weeks, and then 160 mg/day for the last 2 weeks. First of all, I think this is pretty absurd considering I do not have any active pimples (maybe one minor one thats fading) it's just I have redness left after the acne I got on the early stages of
  25. Hello, I have been on spironolactone (100 mg) for three months now. While I have not noticed a drastic improvement in my skin, I have noticed a subtle improvement and have been told to be patient with the results. Recently I have thought about discontinuing Spironolactone treatment due to irregular bleeding. I cannot be on hormonal birth control (the pill, etc.) as I am sensitive to migraines, therefore I am unable to regulate my periods this way. The past two months I have had my period twi
