  1. Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and for quite a while now I've been looking into getting a laser resurfacing on my face. I had acne breakout during my teenage years and now that I'm 25yrs old, I want to get rid of the acne scarrings that's been left from the breakout. Being an asian ethnicity I pose of complications of hyperpigmentation that's why I want to take my time on this matter and take the safest route as possible but also enough to see some actual results. I've been researching abou
  2. Funny story. 2 months ago, I went to a derma, he made me do a blood test then gave me a 2 month supply of accutane for about $60 if I convert to USD. I came back for more accutane after 40 days, he told me to do ANOTHER blood test and wait another week. Hell nah do I got time for that, I'm too busy. So what I did was go to a local pharmacy, apparently they don't *need* a prescription, he just gave me another month supply for $30. I'm living in Saudi Arabia, they aren't so strict on getting
  3. Hey guys! For over a year now, I have had a small-medium patch of tiny little bumps (almost like white heads) and darker pigmented skin in the area on my cheek! The reason I've only started worrying now, is because it seems to have spread on to my other cheek (refer to 2nd photo) and ignore my lil bit of peach fuzz in photos! The patch is not painful, or itchy, it's just kind of there! I tried apple cider vinegar and betamethasone, toothpaste, the whole nine yards. If anyone has any suggestions
  4. Hey everybody, I'm a first time poster but long time reader and follower of this forum. I've been struggling with acne my whole life and it's great to come to this forum and see that I'm not alone. I honestly can't even remember when the dreaded problem started but I can say that I am 26 years old and suffer with adult acne. Most of my acne is on the left side of my face with zits here and there on the right. It's been hard to pinpoint the cause of my acne but it's most likely hormonal due to t
  5. So I completed 5 months of Accutane, and after previously having severe acne (it made those stupid proactive ad before shots look like heaven) my skin is fully clear! I didn't really have a medical reason, the only side effects I got were dry lips and easy sunburn, but I stopped at 5 months. I was only on 20 mg/day dose the entire time and it worked wonders, now a month off, I got my first two pimples in a few months. I freaked out and since I had 1 month at least (could get more) lef

    Higher Dosage

Ok so 1 month on accutane i went back to my doctor. Struggling with dry lips thats it on a month of 40mg. On Friday i will start on my revised dosage of 70mg. Safe to say i'm shitting one! Any advice welcome. I am scared of the dry skin now almost double my dose!!! Let you know how i get on
  7. Hi there, I am new to acne.org and I was just wondering if any one of you knowledgeable members can assist me with figuring out a plan for my scarring. I am not sure if these are enlarged pores or icepick scars. I am in my 20s and on accutane so acne is not active and hasnt been for a while, the scars are mainly a result of hormonal changes from birth control in my teens. While i do not intend to do any scar treatment until after im off accutne, I still would like to get a head start. I real
  8. Right, so I have been suffering from these bumps across my forehead for about 6 months. I've tried benzoyl peroxide in hopes that it would clear away these bumps for about 1 month. It dried up my skin completely although did not remove the bumps. I'm starting to think that it is some sort of folliculitis as they first started across my hair line and gradually moved towards between my eyebrows and a few near my nose next to my cheeks. I've tried Nizarol and this has cleared up the bumps to some e
  9. Hello I have been on accutane before (ordered online) and I was wondering how do I get prescribed accutane? Do I make an appointment with any dermatologist? And what are the chances of getting prescribed accutane? I'm 21 with my own health insurance but my parents live half way across the country so they can't help. Thanks!
  10. DERMAL GRAFT If you have had this done post here please! Okay so I am trying to compile a thread of people that have had some of these procedures done. I know Datura had dermal grafts done, I believe in Alabama, but not sure by which doctor. I'm pretty sure he had good results with the dermal grafts. I know there's been a few others on here that have had it done too. I am looking for other people that have had it done. Fat Transfer / Fat Graft / Fat injection If you had had this
  11. I've an appointment schedule for 20 May to see the derm, and I was wondering if you all thought I'd be prescribed Accutane (check images and read the entire post). I've got some acne that's deep and hurts, as well as my entire cheeks being covered by papules; deep, painful, headless pimples; and small, hard blackheads. My acne has started to make me not want to leave my house, or eat for that matter, and it's affected my self-esteem in every way, i.e, I can't sit a certain way because my acne
  12. (16, female) I've been suffering with acne for over a year now, but it feels like a lifetime, I honestly don't remember what it feels like to have clear skin, though I don't have acne any where near as worse as a lot of people, it's still there and it still knocks my confidence, though I try to forget about it. My acne is mainly on my cheeks, which, because there's no bone, hyperpigmentation is left behind after every. single. spot. And stays for such a long time, it looks horrendous. I've tried
  13. ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE I am a 20 year old girl in higher education and I am suffering with moderate acne, mainly on my cheeks and my chin. I have been taking Lymecycline capsules once a day for just under 2 months now while using Acnecide over night and nothing seems to be working, if anything it is getting worse. I have never had any side effects to the antibiotics or the cream other than a few times I have been dry around the mouth area in the first few days of using it but my skin seems to al
  14. ...or north part of Cincinnati (West Chester, Mason, etc.) would work. My son is going to a general physician and it would be nice to get a fresh perspective on treating his cystic, inflammatory type acne which tends to leave scarring. There are so many doctors in the area and we have no idea where to start. I know there are some more popular docs at Dermatology Associates, for example, but it would probably be months before we could get in. Thanks
  15. Would really love some feedback from a dermatologist but any feedback is welcomed. I've only had one very light fraxel laser treatment, and to be totally honest it didn't have much effect. This is two years post-accutane. I've accepted my scarring emotionally but at the same time, this is something that I would be really happy to not have to worry about at the ripe age of 20. I would be so thankful to just be able to be free from this once and for all. If anyone has scarring similar to m
  16. Are Dermatologists Experts in Acne?

Click here to Skip Down to How to Find a Dermatologist Who Is an Acne Expert In most cases, you can successfully treat acne at home by following an appropriate skin care regimen. However, some people who have very severe acne or a hormonal imbalance may need to consult a dermatologist. All dermatologists have some familiarity with acne, but by far not all are acne experts. The formal training a dermatologist receives covers a huge number of...
  17. Im pretty hopeless right now. I just came from the doctors..waiting room.. (Im from Canada btw). I went because my mother is convinced that what is happening to my face is more than acne, that its a rash that she mistook for acne when she was 14. She was given some sort of steroid cream and overnight she was cured...yay mom. Im turning 20 very soon and Ive had acne for three years. I remember it beginning the minute I stepped out of high school. A more accurate description would be the week

  19. Hi all, it's been a while since I've been here. I had subcision with Dr. Rappaport from NY about 2 years ago. One session for a mix of rolling, boxcar scars. Outcome was mediocre at best, very little improvement and lots of post inflammatory pigmentation that lasted over a yr (still has some). Fast forward to today, I'm still very unhappy with my scarring. So I'm looking to fly pretty much anywhere in the US to get treated. I don't want to just do lasers, maybe a combination of treatment
  20. Hi everyone, i'm 20 year old, asian skin, i got acne since i was 13. It was really bad a few years back but when i started the acne regimen, it had completely cleared my acne. I eventually stopped the regimen about two years later, and my acne came back full blown. I got back on the regimen (i actually only use the BP, i use aloe vera for moisturizer, and i don't have a cleanser because i just can't seem to find the right one) and it slowed down the acne but had not competely cleared it, i still
  21. Please excuse me for this post, but I am so frustrated with my body acne. I am such a freak that I get acne even in weird places like my forearms, hands, and stomach. And yes, I do think that it's actual acne for reasons that I will explain later in this post. MY RANT Having weird body acne is so frustrating because I'm such a freak. Virtually nobody else gets acne in such weird places. It's at least somewhat socially acceptable to have acne on the face, back, or chest. It's frustrating

  23. Hi guys, this is my first post. I suffered from fairly severe acne through out my teens and have scaring. I know it isn't the worst, but I am now 22 and I would like to have good skin. I am hoping you can advise me on what treatments I can get. I am wondering if the skin on my cheeks is mostly scare tissue as when I part the scars they do not lessen. Can anything done to help this? Thank you,
  24. Here's my situation. I have heard great things about a specific laser treatment, but the doctor who performed said great things with the laser is a board certified dermatologist and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. The catch is, he is in California, while I am in Illinois. The only doctors that offer the laser treatment I'm looking for within 100 miles of my area are board certified plastic surgeons. I should mention that on
  25. So I'm thinking about getting the cortisone shot tomorrow because I have this huge pimple on the side of my chin! Anyway, this would be my first shot. I need it to be gone by Saturday night and I was wondering if it would at least be gone or go down by then? This is my first weekend of college and there are so many fun things going on, I want to be able to go out and enjoy it and not stay in because of this huge zit on my face. I'm also going to get it done by one of the Health Center doctors at
