  2. Hi All, My names Ash, Well for the last 10 years or so I have suffered from Acne. In my opinion it totally ruined my teenage years. I am 26 now and committed to find a permanent solution to Acne. Like everyone else, I have tried.... EVERYTHING including the infamous "Accutane" aka "Roaccutane". All of these things only ever fixed the issue temporarily, my acne always returned. After extensive research online, I came across a research that indicated allot skin conditions and mental condi

  5. can i have green gram uncooked? either just soaked? or just dry roasted in a pan?(in which case i wonder how many days can they be stored)????
  6. Previous history : I have had acne off and on since I was in high school. In high school it didn't really bother me and when I did break out, it cleared up quick. After my senior year summer, I had a terrible breakout. I used antibiotics and BP, but it would not clear. That fall I found out what I was doing wrong with my regimen and was put on doxycyline and epiduo. I also incorporated going in the sauna and working out 3 times a week. This resulted in me becoming completely clear for over a yea
  7. hello! i'm not sure if anyone else has this question in mind but i am in serious confusion! there are people who say white rice is poison and others who stress on a gluten-free diet. if one had to choose, which one would you choose? going by logic , white rice is bad for it raises the insulin level(sudden spike) ..for it's got high GI.whereas gluten is said to be inflammatory. so,what do u think?which one is (let's say) less harmful(or safer to carry on with)?? (my story : i have
  8. hey! watermelon has crazy good reviews while some scare u off! what are ur views on watermelon?? it's got high water content and high GI. it's got very good vitamin content and is said to be acne-fighting. ur thoughts?
  9. Hi all. I'm new here so forgive me if I'm not doing this right, ha! I'm 17 years old and have had acne for roughly about 3 years now. However, it has come and gone over the years. My acne has always been the same - always around the chin, and mouth. Literally everywhere else on my face is clear. I feel like I am doing everything in my power to have clear, nice skin. I work out, eat incredibly healthy, drink lot's and lot's of water, wash my face and moisturize morning and night and e
  10. Simple question. Sounds like a dumb one but recently I went on holiday and was eating rubbish the whole time and didn't get one single break out the whole time. Literally once I started my healthy eating again, I started breaking out. Anyone else had any experience with this?
  11. Hi everyone, this is my first topic here but I've been a long time reader of the forums Many of you seem so experienced and knowledgeable, so I wanted to make a post and see if anyone could help me figure out what's causing my persistent forehead acne. Some background info: I'm a 22 year old female who had perfect skin all throughout my teens. Once I hit 19-20, I started to get the occasional pimple on my forehead/chin. As someone who prided herself on having great skin, it was bothersome,
  12. Hi all! So ive been a long termer here and unfortuntately whilst Accutane has generally worked like a DREAM for me, I still have suffered intermittent breakouts. Don't get me wrong, these ive attributed to being a guy of a certain age, but my latest breakout is pretty epic. No raised lumps or anything, but since accutane my acne has been comodenal to a point that i have almost like clogged pores that inflame on a very small level. Often, if i dont squeeze em, you can barely see they exis
  13. Hi, my name is PJ, I'm 24, and I've had severe acne and anxiety for the past 10 years, since I was 14. I've been documenting my healing journey on YouTube for the past 9 months. - http://www.youtube.com/user/HolisticHealthJ - I want to share my story with the acne.org community. If you're a person who feels like you've done everything to try and cure your acne, you've tried all the creams and topicals, you eat really healthy, you get sunshine, you exercise, you do all the things the health guru'
  14. Hey! I have been struggling with cystic acne for about 3 years. It is a very frustrating thing to deal with. It's physically and mentally painful! I had tried everything (or so I thought). I would go see my family doctor, who would always prescribe me the exact same pill, which NEVER worked. Despite the fact of me asking her for another option, she was very pushy with the fact that these pills would eventually work. But they didn't! I started to do research on my own. I read, read, a
  15. Hello everyone! First time posting in this forum because I need advice and suggestions! I've been a vegan for about a month now. Really, I stumbled upon it. After doing a lot of research trying to find a cure to my acne, I decided to give up dairy. Looking for dairy free recipes led to a lot of vegan recipes, so I just stopped eating meat too since it wasn't needed in these recipes. In about 2 weeks, I saw a huge improvement in my skin. Even to this day, I have not had a major breakout like I
  16. I've recently started supplementing with standardized Milk Thistle one time a day and wondering if anyone has any success, experience with helping with fat digestion and liver cleansing which would ultimately help with inflammation and skin? I am taking doxy in conjunction with Spiro and really wanting to treat my liver well and aid it in all it's work. Since taking doxy I also take a good probiotic, but I noticed an increase in bloating and IBS symptoms since on the antibiotic. However,
  17. Quick question about turkey and chicken where could I buy them organically or whatever? I heard their both much better for you and to me it seems like it's the only type of meat I could throw in my body besides like wild salmon and what not, I'm 16 and love eating meat but I think I'd rather go for clearskin than eating whatever I want been eating lot of veggies and fruits etc. had about mild-ish acne since about the 7th grade now am in 11th so eating right seems the way to go my scars seems lik
  18. I just wanted to update anyone interested in holistic methods for acne what I have been doing recently. I learned about Arachidonic Acid (AA) which is highly inflammatory and what Omega 6 is converted to in the body. AA metabolizes into all the inflammatory compounds; especially leukotrienes and prostaglandins. I learned that you need to redirect how your body deals with PolyUnsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA's) towards the anti-inflammatory compounds. I realize that there is a balance. We already kn
  19. Hi! I was wondering if anyone else noticed a link between their breakouts and consumption of dairy products. It seems that whenever I eat butter, cheese, or anything with milk ingredients in it, I break out a few days later and I notice more inflammation. I had a severe milk allergy when I was a baby, which would only result in throwing up (as far as I know). I was wondering if maybe that sensitivity to dairy is resurfacing? I was also on a 50 day round of doxycycline (antibiotic)...could that h
  20. Hi Guys Can someone please please please help!!!!!! Last Christmas I started to develop red marks on my face which I originally thought was Acne. The marks were originally extremely red and crossed half one check and covered a large section of my other cheek. The marks really effected my self esteem and destroyed my confidence. I went to the Dr's and he told me what I had was a shaving infection and gave me some topical steroid and moisturiser and said it should be healed in a couple of
  21. Hi all, I just joined this site today. I'm 39 years old and have been dealing with acne as long as I can remember. However, the last 3 -4 months have been the worst of my life! Deep, painful, ugly cystic acne....lovely! It's taken a toll on me or sure....visibly and mentally. So, my next game plan is to get tested for gluten sensitivity. I see on the forums that some folks have tried this. I got blood work done a year ago and it came back negative, but I've been researching and found out
  22. I don't understand how people can say diet and acne are not related. For instance Ive been doing digging on Sebaceous glands and sebum. Of course we all know, Isotret (Accutane) is the only actual studied scientific proof that it does in fact shrink your glands and sebum production. However I was reading up on what sebum is primarily made up of (Wax, Triglycerides, Free fatty acids, Squalene) Information pulled from : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebaceous_gland - As you can see the Sebaceou
  23. I'm 17 and have had hormonal acne since I was 12. My skin has cleared up remarkably during the summer, and now I have virtually not a single spot on my face other than a couple of small hyperpigmentation/red marks left over from earlier acne. When I wash my face, it feels flat and smooth. This is the first time since I started combating acne that my skin has improved significantly on its own! I've been following a strict diet for the past few months: I cut out dairy, processed foods, white rice/
  24. Alright, so I just pulled myself out of a little slump. Stressed about college, my boyfriend I see once a year, a new job I'm starting, my running career being jeopardy cause of a bounced knee, small tings that add up. But it will all be okay. One step at a time. Life must go on even if I have acne and fears. It could be worse...no jinx! Alright, and I know stress causes acne, I try to be really calm all the time, but I've had acne for 6 years now, and I was clear when I was young like most
