    My FAQ's/About Me

    From the album: About Me

My FAQ's (Last updated 03/21/18): Greetings strangers! *^Me *^You So... Let's just jump right into it, shall we? Time to say goodbye to "Regimen's" and live life to the best of your ability! ------------------- A lot of people have sent me messages since I joined this site at the age of 22. Many of the questions were similar, so I decided to gather my top frequently asked questions (FAQ's) here based on what people have asked me numerously, and what people are probably sti
  2. Here we go... My story is similar to so many users on here, especially those who have tried the caveman regimen, because I have been on everything (antibiotics, topicals, retinoids, Accutane, birth control, BP, medicated cleansers, vitamins, you name it) and NOTHING has worked. Everything works for a little while and then the acne comes back at some point or another. So I guess everything worked but nothing lasted. So here I am, trying to heal myself the au-natural way. Thanks to blogs like

    Day One: Realization

Day One: Realization Hello and welcome to my blog, I hope you can enjoy these posts and I bring a sense of happiness to your day!:) Firstly I am 18, a recent high school graduate and about to finish my 2-year degree in business. I obviously have experiences with stress - and that's what this first post is going to be all about. Exactly a week ago I went clubbing with my friend for her birthday and some lovely (sarcasm) human being slid my phone out of my pocket and basically stole it. Right t
  4. This week I started my 4th pack of Yasmin and it's the first time that it didn't broke me out at all (not complaining about the one teeny tiny spot I got) like it used to do while starting a new pack. My face hasn't been pimple-free since ages. Yasmin has work wonders for me so far. My periods are the most regular they have ever been. It hasn't done a lot to prevent my excessive hair growth, but the doc told me that I'll probably see difference after a couple more months of using the pill.
  5. I took Accutane 4 years ago. After two years, my acne returned in full force. I was getting cystic acne just like before. I fell back into the cycle of taking antibiotics (minocycline, doxycycline, etc) but I knew that wasn't a permanent solution. I was even considering a second round of Accutane. After seeing how clear my skin could be with the first round of Accutane, I just wanted to have clear skin again! It had been such a blessing not having to think about the blemishes on my face. When yo
  6. THE BEST HORMONAL ACNE ROUTINE- THE ONLY ONE THAT HELPED ME!Hi there I'm 22 years old and I've been suffering from acne from around the age of 15. It was bad and cystic at times but it was still manageable and used to come and go. During this time I was still using cosmetic facial products and benzoyl peroxide continuously and my face was very oily all the time. Anyhow, about 5 months ago my acne got servilely worse. I had sore cysts all across my forehead and all across my chin and the sides o
  7. I am learning more and more about just how closely acne and diet are related. I've read a lot of books regarding nutrition and how it plays a role in either creating acne or encouraging clear skin. I never used to believe that eliminating certain foods could actually benefit skin health. I've seen it all first hand now though and I believe it more and more. Over Christmas and Thanksgiving, I indulged too much. I'm sure I'm not alone in that! It's such a hard time of year to stay on track but n
  8. It's been 6 weeks since I had an aggressive profractional treatment on my cheeks to try and treat my acne scars. I re-started my Retin A Micro regimen this past week. All signs of redness are gone but I still have some fain track marks from the procedure. I am having a hard time telling if there is any improvement. Sometimes I wonder if it actually made my scars worse (see the videos below for before and after pictures) My diet has been up and down. I did wonderful for almost a month and my
  9. Just a quick update that I'll be getting Broad Band Light treatment tomorrow (I think it's an updated type of intense pulse light treatment). It's supposed to help with sun damage, pigmentation issues, and overall skin health. It supposedly can help decrease your change of developing skin cancer in the future too which sounds like a nice bonus to me. I spent basically my entire youth frying in the sun and then my skin got scars from all my cystic acne so my skin has been through a lot. I figure
  10. My diet has been all over the place and it shows on my skin. It's probably the worst my skin has been in a while. My poor body is sick of all the back and forth with diet. When I am eating clean it shows up on my skin in the best way possible. Too much sugar and grains and crappy oils and it goes downhill pretty fast. I really need to get a grip on being more consistent rather than all or nothing. I'm hoping to adopt a less restrictive approach to paleo based eating so that I can keep up wit
  11. My current diet is not very healthy in these past months, despite the fact that I still get enough proteins, vitamins, and carbs to keep myself nourished. Although, I'm not sure if I'm properly digesting these foods, because I constantly feel fatigued and depressed. I am really concerned with my low serotonin levels, constant migraines, high stress levels (due to negative thinking and inconsistent decision-making), and overall high anxiety levels. I feel like I'm just not my optimal self, but I
  12. So, I finally went to the dermatologist yesterday. All of the OTC products just weren't doing it for me. Plus, I wasn't as compliant as I should have been. But since it's prescribed I will likely be consistent this time, hopefully - it's all psychological. I'm actually really excited! And praying that this fixes this acne nightmare, especially with me being 24 years old. So, I have the following: Doxycyline 100mg twice a day Duac/Benzaclin in the morning Retin-A at night As far as fac
  13. I've been eating an anti-inflammatory diet for over a month now. This means no gluten, soy, peanuts, dairy, red meat, eggs, citrus (excluding lemons), corn, tomatoes, sugar, bananas, strawberries, and peppers. Definitely no refined foods. I've also been formally tested for sensitivities, and only dairy, sugar, pork, beef, and random things like MSG and grapes came up. These have been cut out of my diet for even longer. At first I thought my skin was improving, especially my chin, but the
  14. From the album: still looking good!

Slight redness where the worst of it was. Happy to say that it is mostly gone! A swipe of sheer tinted moisturizer takes care of it. That pink mark on my chin was the result of a pizza/movie night with a friend who was going through a breakup. The breakup was a good decision, but the pizza... not so much.
  15. From the album: Acne Log

  16. Hahahaha I've been driving myself mad limiting my diet like this! I'm pretty happy with my skin but I have a lot of flesh colored bumps all over my face that are pretty damn persistent suckers. I need to find makeup that works with my skin, not against it. I can't wait until I find the perfect combination of everything. This trial and error stuff is exhausting. I plan on purchasing a blue light bulb for light therapy. I've heard it can yield some great results.. so why the hell
  17. Hi, My name is Opey and I've had acne since I was 14 and now I'm 20 going 21, basically I've had acne for 6 years straight and I just can't deal with it anymore. I hate looking in the mirror because of my countless inflamed cystic acne. It just looks disgusting and I can be honest with my self, people around me have said it to me so I know myself. When people make fun of me because of my acne it doesn't actually hurt my feelings and that's being honest, but it just makes me think, what about if

    Day 29

Day 29 - Did not pick today so tomorrow is day 30 and I will be posting pictures! I dermarolled today. I haven't been counting the days but I think its about 10 days since my first dermaroller session? Can't say ive seen good results (its just one session) but I haven't seen bad results which is still good news. I went a little rougher today since I was use to the pricking pain, but hopefully not too rough for my skin to handle. I've done some research, and I think i'll be buying the este
  19. So I posted about how my weekend binge sent me into a breakout. After that day I had one more pimple barely begin to form and it was zapped with a little acne medicine (which is rare lol). I also popped and cleaned/treated the biggest zit I got on my left cheek. I did that last night and it looks much better this morning. I have been dairy free, once again for 3 days (this is my 3rd day, so two full days), and once again, the redness and inflammation I received over the weekend has drastical

    The Lowdown

Hello my fellow acne fighters! Well, it's the first week of the semester, and guess what I have? A knock-down, drag out cold. BLEGH. So not only am I going to four classes and working, I'm also carrying tissues around with me and my head feels like it weighs a hundred pounds. Fun times, Fun times. Alright--what you've all been waiting for...the skin update! It's been rather a up and down, ladies and gentleman, it turns out the desert essence moisturizer was another example that I should never sw
  22. Hi everyone IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ THE EXPLANATION SKIP TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH basically i've had moderate to severe acne for about 4 years now (its been moderate for the last year) and as is the same with most people on here ive tried all sorts of pills and creams over this period. And i have also had a huge interest in diet, nutrition and exercise. about 3 years ago now i did the basic 6 food elimination diet (milk, soy, egg, wheat, nuts and shellfish) and took vitamin tablets to re

    My Acne Past

Sooo...today is the day that I decide to create a blog of my acne experience. I'm doing this to tell other people what will or won't help me over the next months (6-12 months), and to help me keep track of my progress. Another reason was because I couldn't find answers to many questions through a plethora of google searches (such as when your face gets through the purging stages of stopping benzoyl peroxide cold turkey). Let me start off with my acne story... The earliest I can remember h
  24. Since around August last year, my skin (which was once very clear, maybe only 3-4 small non-inflamed spots) has been getting worse. At first it was just a few more on my forehead, but now it's covering my forehead, all along my hairline, a little on my cheeks and a bit on my chin. My back and chest doesn't have a lot of acne. Whilst I do struggle with picking acne on my face (though I have improved), I was wondering whether being extremely iron deficient could cause it to get worse. Since my iro
