  1. Hi all, I just joined this site today. I'm 39 years old and have been dealing with acne as long as I can remember. However, the last 3 -4 months have been the worst of my life! Deep, painful, ugly cystic acne....lovely! It's taken a toll on me or sure....visibly and mentally. So, my next game plan is to get tested for gluten sensitivity. I see on the forums that some folks have tried this. I got blood work done a year ago and it came back negative, but I've been researching and found out

    Question About Dairy

Hi, I'm an 18 year old male, and up until a year ago, I had flawless skin. Acne was an issue, that I never imagined I'd have to deal with. I have a simple question about Dairy. My diet, has never really been healthy, but it's never really been unhealthy either, and milk, up until a year ago, did nothing but make me happy. I've read many internet threads about how avoiding milk can significantly clear your skin and that understanding the inner issue and the personal problems inside your body that
  3. This has been happening to me for 10+ years. All food gives me acne- literally. All food prepared by a restaurant gives me super intense acne. Living like this is so terrible. Does anyone have advice/ tips for for not going insane while living with this horribly awful disease??
  4. Constipation

    Constipation Causes Acne

For the past 6 years I have been eating an unhealthy diet and have struggled with dermatitis like symptoms. I recently realized that food might be the cause of my symptoms and had also realized that I have been almost constantly constipated. Going to the washroom was always about forcing and hard stools. When your stool becomes dehydrated from eating unhealthy the waste stays in your large intestine longer, therefore allowing more toxic materials to be absorbed into the body. At this point, I
  5. Hello community! I'm a French student who have suffered from acne for a very long time. I have tried all the treatments imposed by my doctors: dozens of creams and three months on antibiotics. I felt very ugly and I was on the brink of depression, I remember looking at me in the mirror trying to reassure me all the time! It was crazy Last year, after a long search on the internet, I have developed an anti-acne diet. I have completely stopped all dairy products (and I am not intolerant!) , eggs
  6. Hey everyone, i made a blog but i thought just making a question in a forum would be easier. Here my blog (From start to week 2) WEEK 3 (21 Days) I am still getting new spots more or less everyday or every second day so i guess im still going through the initial breakout, hopefully this will stop at week 5 or sooner because it is my birthday (woo) then and it would be great if it did. At the start i was drinking a lot of milk and other dairy products to try and get the "high fat"
  7. Hi, my name is PJ, I'm 24, and I've had severe acne and anxiety for the past 10 years, since I was 14. I've been documenting my healing journey on YouTube for the past 9 months. - http://www.youtube.com/user/HolisticHealthJ - I want to share my story with the acne.org community. If you're a person who feels like you've done everything to try and cure your acne, you've tried all the creams and topicals, you eat really healthy, you get sunshine, you exercise, you do all the things the health guru'

    How I Cleared My Acne

Hi everyone! I wanted to share this video with you all, because I finally have clear skin and if this video could help just one of you, it'd be amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh1O39ZNuEE Let me know how you get on! xx
  10. Hi. I've been on a diet (full diet that's now complete.) which is basically avoiding all foods I am intolerant to, which I got a test done and I'd been having a fair bit of them. But they have ALL been cut out for the past 3 days. No, I'm not having junk food, such as Mcdonalds, soft drinks etc, a lot of protein and vegetables and snacks that aren't bad. I've been following what my nutritionist has been telling me to do. And I take vitamin supplements as well btw. Anyway, I've been seeing her
  11. I am dairy and gluten intolerant and know I should cut it out, but I look at people with clear glowing skin, stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers from McDonalds, and am extremely, extremely confused!!! Someone please explain this to me. Also, I was vegan and gf for 8 months, dancing everyday and STILL had spots. Please help me if you know anything about this subject. I was wondering if childhood diet has anything to do with it? When I was younger I used to eat so much melted cheese and fr

    Going fully vegan?

Hi everyone. I'm a 25 year old woman suffering from hormonal acne on my chin. I used to only get cysts, now I get a combination of cysts, pustules and pimples but only ever on my chin. I'm fed up. On trimethoprim to try and treat it. Did the dairy free diet for a month and didn't really think it had worked but once I reintroduced dairy I had the most horrendous breakout ever. I'm thinking about stepping it up to the next level and doing an organic, vegan, low GI, no refined sugar diet for 3 m
  13. Quick question about turkey and chicken where could I buy them organically or whatever? I heard their both much better for you and to me it seems like it's the only type of meat I could throw in my body besides like wild salmon and what not, I'm 16 and love eating meat but I think I'd rather go for clearskin than eating whatever I want been eating lot of veggies and fruits etc. had about mild-ish acne since about the 7th grade now am in 11th so eating right seems the way to go my scars seems lik
  14. I just wanted to say this... I have been doing a healthy fruit-vegetable with the acception of white meats, etc. No junk foods, fried foods, diary, and sugars of course. Well i've been doing it for about 2 months now, and all the current acne is gone after 1 month.. And my red marks started to diminish as well.. BUT, my stubborn ass figured i'd try eating something different last night, so i ordered 1 dominoz sandwich lol, i couldn't resist it, i thought my acne and red marks were unde

    Healthier Diet=More acne?

Hello! Foremost, I'd like to say that I have been combatting with light to moderate acne for years now. Recently, I have been eating healthier (it isn't that I have eaten unhealthy before, it is just I am cutting back on rice consumption, oily food intake, etc). However, it seems as if my skin gets worse when I eat more raw vegetables. Any deviation from my normal diet that I have had for my entire life, essentially (consistent home cooked, Indian food all my seventeen years of living), resul
  16. Hi there, I've been lurking these forums for a little while now and I see a lot of people claiming a change of diet was the one cure for their acne. What information I can find about the diet/acne connection is limited and inconclusive and it makes me skeptical. I want to try it but I don't know where to start. What I do know is that I get enough sleep (most of the time, but I'm working on it), I wash and moisturize morning and night and exfoliate every few days (I might stop, it may be irritati
  17. I'm 17 and have had hormonal acne since I was 12. My skin has cleared up remarkably during the summer, and now I have virtually not a single spot on my face other than a couple of small hyperpigmentation/red marks left over from earlier acne. When I wash my face, it feels flat and smooth. This is the first time since I started combating acne that my skin has improved significantly on its own! I've been following a strict diet for the past few months: I cut out dairy, processed foods, white rice/

    Desperate For Help

Hi everyone! So I've been lurking acne.org for about two years now and this is my first time posting. I'm very desperate to find a solution to my chronic moderate cystic acne issue. Sorry this is so long but I really would love some advice! Ok so here it goes: I'm currently almost 20 years old and throughout my teenage years I suffered from a little bit of acne that healed very quickly and it started to get better as I got older. Never ever washed my face. But silly me before college decided I
  19. Hello, friends! I hope you have some wonderful plans for NYE. So ... I have a few questions about diet, as it relates to hormones - and a few other things. If you could take the time to lend me your expertise, I'd be eternally grateful! As I decipher my body's wisdom about what works and doesn't work for it, I've been thinking a lot about times in the past when I was clear, of course. All through college, I was on BC (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo), and used Differin. I don't think I neede

    My acne solution..

Hello folks, made an account to share what has helped me with my acne. I'm a 29 year old man. From the age of 14, I suffered from horrible cystic acne. The only thing that got rid of the cysts was accutane. If you have cysts and haven't tried accutane, do so. Asap. Before accutane I tried everything else. Antibiotics, creams, you name it. My folks while well intentioned, (a friend's son used accutane and had a mental breakdown) delayed my trying it by years. Immediate results, never had cys

    Low Gi Diet?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here had any personal experience with the lchf or gi diet. Did it work in your experience? How long did it take? I would be very greatful if anyone could mention a diet that worked for them. BONUS MOTHER******* does green tea really help with acne? If so, which? Once again thank you!
  22. Hello, all! I began eating very clean about 1-2 months ago. I took out gluten, soy, dairy, legumes, and nuts, and basically all processed and refined sugars. I feel that after taking out nuts, (used to drink almond milk everyday) my skin has really improved! It has been a hard two months or so, but I love this natural route so far. Anyway, it was pretty moderate/severe at one point, and I have cried about it a few times the past couple months. This is the only reason I have been so discipline
  23. Previous history : I have had acne off and on since I was in high school. In high school it didn't really bother me and when I did break out, it cleared up quick. After my senior year summer, I had a terrible breakout. I used antibiotics and BP, but it would not clear. That fall I found out what I was doing wrong with my regimen and was put on doxycyline and epiduo. I also incorporated going in the sauna and working out 3 times a week. This resulted in me becoming completely clear for over a yea

    Breakout 4 Years After Accutane

Hi all! So ive been a long termer here and unfortuntately whilst Accutane has generally worked like a DREAM for me, I still have suffered intermittent breakouts. Don't get me wrong, these ive attributed to being a guy of a certain age, but my latest breakout is pretty epic. No raised lumps or anything, but since accutane my acne has been comodenal to a point that i have almost like clogged pores that inflame on a very small level. Often, if i dont squeeze em, you can barely see they exis
