  1. Hi all, after pretty much a lifetime of clear skin, I'm suffering through a huge and very sudden breakout on my left cheek. My appointment with the dermatologist isn't for a week, but I can't help but obsess over what's going on with my face. My dermatitis/acne/herpes(?!) is presenting as a large rash that covers about half my left cheek. After noticing a few red bumps here and there across my face, this more concentrated breakout appeared nearly overnight and has grown in size over the last 3
  2. So I've suffered with really bad acne for a long time, it was bad to the point where you could barely see any clear skin. I went to a dermatologist and she put me on 30mg accutane everyday for almost 6 months, it did wonders and completely cleared my skin (I still have a lot of scarring and get the smallest zits every now and then, but I'm just grateful most of the acne went way). My dermatologist was surprised by how fast the medicine started working on me, the side effects started on my 8
  3. Hi, Does anyone know what kind of acne or skin disorder this? My skin is verg rough looking with bumpy texture. In the nasolabial folds area in particular there are red rash like spots and bumps. In the centre of my forehead horrible tiny spots which look worse in certain light. my skin also looks very dehydrated please help me I would appreciate it x

    Please Help

I have been experiencing acne for years now. I was on birth control for quite awhile and it only made it worse. After going through a surgery and having to be on narcotics for over 2 months I found myself with an incredibly red rash all over my face and linked it to eating gluten. Unfortunately after a year of cutting out gluten and being able to control my face, my skin condition has come back. I went to the dermatologist and they told me to try to eat gluten again and prescribed me adaplene (d
  5. ZINC OXIDE: IF YOU GREW UP IN THE 80′S YOU MAY REMEMBER ZINKA…. Back in the 80′s the zinc was not micronized so it was very WHITE, and sometimes contained the addition of a hot pink, green or yellow color! Life guards wore it on their noses and lips. Yes the 80′s did happen. So did Stussy, big shoulder pads and NEON. So why am I obsessed with zinc oxide? It has cleared my acne, healed my eczema and calmed my irritated skin while providing UVA/UVB protection. There are not enough produc
  6. Does this look like folliculitis to you? I can't find anything through searches that looks like it. All of the pictures show red inflamed bumps all over and I mostly have flesh colored bumps with a few red ones/white head looking spots. It first appeared after working out and switching to a SA facewash along with using BP topically and the more I tried to treat it the worse it got. Cortisone seems to help a bit but its only a quick fix and as soon as I sweat or shower it gets aggravated.
  7. Hello everybody, just someting I wanted to share with you guys because it might help someone else in the future: I've been reading these boards throughout the years because just like most of you I have had pretty serious acne since I was 14 or something. Now 26. I've been on all sorts of medications (accutane 3 times) but eventually, around my 18th birthday I discovered Dan's regimen and it worked wonders for me. I have been following it ever since. Never experienced bad scaling or redness or

Welp...Went to the doctor today about a rash i have had on my face for about 6 months now. Turns out i have what is called Perioral dermatitis. I have had this going on since February and was sooo fed up with it, i tried everything to get rid of it including: -Coconut oil -hemp oil -tea tree oil -excema cream -psoriasis cream -anti fungal cream -oatmeal mask -polysporin -aloe vera -BP and SA NONE of these things really helped at all so i finally broke down and went to the doctor. So
  9. Wanted to update my forum post () with a blog which is the direction I want to take the post since I'm currently in the "experimentation" process. I was motivated to do this blog to help other people who are trying to find alternative treatments to BP as I know how frustrating it can be to find new a regimen after one has been working so well. Currrently, i'm trying a new regimen as I found that using salicylic acid wash (neutrogena oil free wash) and aha (dan's brand) resulted in many closed co
  10. Even though i have some kind of allergy/eczema/atopic dermatitis going on in my face and neck... (My allergist confirmed that to me weeks ago), Diane-35 has helped me A LOT with my acne, so I´m happy to take it. The weight gain is the only side effect i´m having right now! But not other side effects for the moment. Do someone know what to eat/not to eat when you have atopic dermatitis? I´m confused with this disease... Thank you!
  11. Basically, as the title says, I have not found any help among the many dermatologists I have seen in the past several years. The main problem is that my skin problems seem to be all over the map and can differ at different times and show different symptoms and even clear up for a short (and I mean SHORT) period of time and then come back and get me depressed. I only wash my face with cleansers/facial soaps meant for dry/sensitive skin. I have also used a lot of different moisturizers, all cl
  12. Hello, about a year ago I went on Dan's Regimen and it really cleared up my skin, almost completely. I enjoyed the clear skin for a couple of months at which point it became harder for me to keep to the rigorous schedule i used to keep for the regimen (I began to miss a day here and there, and eventually a few days at a time, until I was doing it once a day every so often). This intermittent use of the Regimen kept going through this most recent summer but I wasn't getting the results I wanted.

  14. Topical application of Neosporin, also known as Triple Antibiotic Ointment (TAO), http://www.drugs.com/pro/triple-antibiotic-ointment.html has been shown to effectively treat a number of common skin infections. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1824665/pdf/canmedaj00742-0047.pdf I have put TAO on forming cystic acne and it reduces the severity of the bump and accelerates healing. Please read the publication for more information.
  15. Hey guys. So I've been having really really awful skin for the past two months. Lots of big spots, discolouration, hyperpigmentation and dryness/redness. I went to my derm in distress and she suggested accutane. I've decided I want to give it a go. However, aside from acne my main concern is the redness/dryness I suffer from around my nose. It's quite severe and usually I've found that the only 'relief' is a sunbed, however this isn't possible as it makes my redness more red and my hyperpi
  16. Hi all. I’ve posted my fair share of desperate pleas on this board, asking for help with my perioral dermatitis, and so far, nothing has worked. It appeared about four years ago, and for three, I used a derm rx’d metro + hydrocortisone lotion that totally suppressed it. Over the past year I’ve tried antibiotics (oral and topical), antifungals, sulfur creams, black soap, demodex treatments, countless natural topicals like ACV and tea tree, and oral supplements like zinc and probiotics. I’ve also
  17. Hello! Now being Australian, I'll start off by saying I'm not using the acne.org regimen, but there is a product kit with similar ingredients sold by Benzac (foaming cleanser, 2.5% bp and a non-greasy moisturiser). I began using this in the prescribed way by Dan and noticed immediate improvement after the first day of use (reduced redness, pimples going down, much healthier skin appearance overall). However, I began to experience severe redness that built up and peaked at the end of the firs
  18. So, I've developed these red, itchy, spots of dermatitis around the sides of my face and around my mouth, and I think i've finally singled out benzoyl peroxide as the culprit. It's calmed down now after stopping the bp for 3 days and corticosteroids, but within 2 days of going back on the regimen the dermatitis came back in the same spots. I've been on the regimen for almost 2 years now using 2 pumps day and night and I can't explain why I am all of a sudden having these rashes. I've stopped usi
  19. Hey all! I've been dealing with this issue recently along my jawline and neck that I'm not quite sure what it is. I've had acne (mainly on my cheeks) for the majority of my teens (I'm 21 now) but recently it's started to clear up on my cheeks because of treatment I've been doing. However, it doesn't seem to want to clear up or get better along my jawline and neck. It's also incredibly itchy and painful sometimes to the touch (like a stinging sensation almost), and it appears inflamed. It's worse

    Last Entry

Took my last ever pill yesterday. I'm glad to not have deep cystic spots appear anymore. Since my last entry this dry skin/ rash has continued to flare up. I'm presuming I've developed seb dermatis or keratinosis Pilaris now.. Just as I expected my skin looked sh*t for my birthday I went from acne to another skin condition, my skin is tight and scaley on my forehead, eyebrows, and jaw and the skin that is revealed under these scales is red, weeping and bumpy. Running my hand over my face feels
  22. I'm 23 y old. I've always had issues with my skin (acne, moles, scars from mole removal, acne, etc..) but that's all kinda endurable. However, ~ 5 years ago my skin became permanently damaged which has been ruining my life ever since. I was using some facial cleansers and acne products, some with benzoil peroxyde and salicylic acid. One of these has permanently damaged my skin (forehead, nose and around the nose) causing some kind of dermatitis, but on top of that - and this is what bothers me t
  23. So I've had this pretty bad acne/rash since Mid May after doing a juicing cleanse. I'm just trying to determine what this is and how to treat it. I have never had acne like this I follow a organic vegan gluten free diet and don't really eat anything processed on a regular basis. My face is oily in the pics because I've been using coconut oil with tea tree oil and this is just after applying. My face is itchy and sore in certain areas. I am just not sure what to do anymore.
  24. Hello all! This is my first post ever on acne.org, though I have been a long-time lurker. I am a 25-yr-old Asian female, and I have suffered from acne for about 6 years now. I have tried everything from benzoyl peroxide to Accutane, but unfortunately my acne problems still persist. But these days, that is not my only problem. I had been using clindamycin gel and adapalene 1% for about 2 months, but I noticed that I started to get this rash-like bumps all over my face. It became extremely it
  25. I'm wondering if there is any link between my problems I will just list the main problems, I have cystic acne and surface acne as well as spots on my back and chest. Seb derm of face, scalp and recently I have developed a patch on my chest. A persistent fungal nail infection on both of my big toes and I have recently discovered I have phimosis which is basically tight foreskin caused by bacteria causing inflammation of the head of the penis. After making this recent discovery I feel like ther
