  1. A month later, drained cyst had refilled slightly so I ended up taking co amoxalave 302mg x3 a day for 14 days and augmentin 250x3 for 14 days. These antibiotics where pretty strong and so helped clear up the rest of my acne pretty effectively. Although It being a quick fix I was pleased with this. I found a warm compress helped fluid drain internally and much of the inflammation was just fluid and not pus. all the smaller marks are just red marks and purple marks, not actual acne. I had d
  2. Skin Condition Per usual, my skin looks the least red in the morning Lots of acne marks still on my cheeks, no surprise The pimples on my lip continue to shrink and dry out The three tiny whiteheads on my chin have reappeared despite popping them so I guess thats a sign not to do that again I actually woke up with what i would describe as slightly OILY skin. Wow. Thats the first time that has happened since I started this treatment. It wasnt gross oily, but like, he
  3. So after seeking a second opinion from my trusted GP he advised not to go on Accutane next week. I explained to him that all the listed side effects I currently experience so imagine what it would do to me... I get flaking skin (which has calmed down since coming off epiduo), dry lips, joint pain and not to mention a stressful job. I Know I know Im scared and trying to talk myself out of going through. Funnily enough in the past month my skin has really started to clear. I'll post my curren
  4. Hi guys, On the 19th Jan this year I went to my local dermatologist for some TCA. He initially put me on a regime to clear up the blackheads/pore problem i have on my nose and cheeks for a 6 week period and it worked great so I trusted his advice. I have a few scarred pores on my nose and I made sure I did a lot of research on the topic of TCA cross before I went ahead with it. He actually suggested the procedure before I even asked him about it which instilled confidence in me. He told
  5. So i went to my GP for acne problems. its nothing severe but its VERY persistent. i've been going to him for years and getting different antibiotics which just do not work. He's just referred me to the hospital and the appointment is the end of october and i just dont want to wait that long ESPECIALLY if at the hospital he says he cant do anything. its got the point where i wont go into shops because all of them have massive mirrors and I HATE seeing the inflammation and redness and the spots, i
  6. Early last year, I spent about 4 months on Roaccutane and it was a miracle cure! But back in October my skin started to have very minor break outs, so I went back to my Derm about 2 weeks ago and she prescribed me Epiduo. I was just wondering whether after the first 3 months, if I won't have to apply it to my skin anymore or whether it's something I will have to be using for a few years to come. Ideally, I'd love to have it over and done with in 3 months, but obviously I can't decide on what my
  7. So I was supposed to get the prescription for accutane at the end of july, but my insurance did not cover it, so I had to wait until the beginning of september. In July, my derm wrote me a script with the info: "CBC, CMP, UA, Lipid Profile, 706.1" and he signed it. When I got the new script for the accutane in september, the receptionists told me that the script with the blood test info will still be good to take to a testing agency lab. My insurance covers labcorp, so when filling out an appoin
  8. The epiduo at first made my skin very red and painful. My condition worsened at first and then I saw a huge reduction in my small "zits". My face remained slightly oily however. The antibiotics where fine and i had no side effects. The first photo is poor quality however it does show how my cysts are still coming thick and fast despite the reduction in the yellow head spots. its like trading the pus filled nasties for more serious acne that will later look 10 times worse. I finished my summer ex
  9. Skin Condition My skin texture looks good, i have very littler redness except for directly around a few pimples: The small cluster of whiteheads on my chin has turned into one smaller, less inflamed whitehead I have one whitehead right at the front of my eyebrow my forehead looks really smooth aside from a few bumps (the # of bumps decreases every day) of course my face is covered in acne marks and some scars Application This morning I washed my face w
  10. Skin Condition Skin redness seems to be minimal like it usually is Lots of acne marks still on my cheeks, one whitehead on my left cheek No whiteheads on my chin this morning which is a nice surprise Just like yesterday my skin was quite dry and flakey. Dryness around my pimples (yay) Not as dry around my eyes as yesterday (yay) Not as dry around my mouth (yay) But this is still the dryest area of my face my forehead looks relativel
  11. Hi guys, Just popped my first 20mg pill last night and woke up with sore nostrils and a strange dry patch on my lower lip. My skin also feels a tiny bit "rubbery" - might be my imagination but I'm convinced the side effects are beginning to kick in. I feel so blessed because my derm put me on Accutane even though my skin isn't terrible right now. I know so many poor people have horrific, scarring acne and can't get a prescription. I've been on a double dose (ridiculous ugh) of Lym
  12. I've an appointment schedule for 20 May to see the derm, and I was wondering if you all thought I'd be prescribed Accutane (check images and read the entire post). I've got some acne that's deep and hurts, as well as my entire cheeks being covered by papules; deep, painful, headless pimples; and small, hard blackheads. My acne has started to make me not want to leave my house, or eat for that matter, and it's affected my self-esteem in every way, i.e, I can't sit a certain way because my acne
  13. well the title says it all i have a derm appt tomorrow and i really do not want to start taking antibiotics because of everything ive read about resistance and when you stop taking it it comes back.. also i do not want any topicals because almost all have a bad IB.. which is why i really dont even use moisturizer.. plus almost all antibiotics take FOREVER to work from my readings on the org... so does any one have any advice for me they could spare.. im going to tell my soon to be new derm th
  14. Finished 4 months of 80mg/day accutane and I was originally only scheduled for a 4.5 month course, however the derm said today he wants to up the daily dosage after not seeing that I was 100% clear. What I really don't get is that I am almost 100% clear, it's just I have some red marks from past pimples (usually popped ones) that make it look like I still have some slight acne, but my derm is insistent on getting me 100% clear (can't argue with that). He wants me to take 40mg in morning
  15. I returned from holiday to have my condition get progressively worse for the next 3 weeks. I had multiple gp visits where I was essentially freaking out. My triple cyst had full on ruptured and burst and I could feel it painful and pulsating as if it had a life of its own. It was over an inch wide and 2/3 inch tall and puffy. Now this is where I lost confidence in the Nhs in treatment of non life threatening issues. The story; After my 3rd gp visit I was in despair, they had given me a
  16. I got this scar when I was little and I cannot figure out if it is a keloid scar or hypertrophic scar, please help.
  17. Hi Guys, I'm only 15, can I make a dermatologist appointment and pay for it with my own money or do you need to be an adult.
  18. I finally visited a private dermatologist. The initial consultation was £200, the blood work was £200 and the medicine was £50. I could have had the blood tests done on the NHS but I felt like I had waited long enough. At this point I would say my acne was very red and my face was very greasy. The derm prescribed me antibiotics for 2 weeks before starting accutane to prevent a bad initial flare up. was then given 40mg a day for a month and told to have another checkup then. For the first 2 w
  19. hey everyone. after taking anti-biotics for essentially 6 years, my derm has decided to put me on accutane. (he's only responsible for a years worth of the antbiotics). its moderate, sometimes severe. localised mainly around my jawline and chin. i also suffer from seborrhoeic dermatitis too, around my chin, nose, forehead, scalp and ears. the accutane is meant to hit two birds with the one stone... ive been on minocin, tetracycline and trimethoprim. the minocin never really worked (a

  21. I went to the dermantologist and he prescribed me Bactrim DS. I am currently on the regimen, and now I will be taking this. My next appointment is in 2 months, and he said I should be clear or start seeing results by then (I hope he's right...). I have to take this twice by mouth daily. Has anyone else ever been on this? Any good results? Also, my skin is very red and dry and it stings all of the time... It's my second week of the regimen, is this normal?
  22. I tried it. I think im done throwing money away. It's was the most uncomfortable, physical experience I've ever had. I'm a 30 year old male that has gone through a lot and I wouldn't go thru pain like that again without a sedative. it has been 3 weeks and I know it made my scars worse. I think this treatment is for old women that want to get rid of superficial lines. I think about treatments with hope and I lose my logic. I think about treatments with logic and I lose hope. Oh well. I wish I cou
  23. The Dermatologist I saw today was really nice. He is my named one, but not who I saw last time. He gave me quite a lot of useful information. I mentioned first the red scars. He said it isn't scarring but actually the skin redness described in the information leaflet, a listed side effect. I assumed that would be full face redness but apparently this is what it refers to. He said when I finish the medication it will fully go and fairly quick. I showed him my face and told him that it has just
  24. I went to Thailand for 5 weeks as a reward for my hard work at university and working as a control engineer intern at a local factory. This brought to me a few issues. Sun, alcohol, and food. I enjoyed my holiday a lot with lots of drink and other various things. This do doubt put a strain on my system. However I love scuba diving and snorkelling and I spent around 50% of my time on the beach playing football (not the american boring version! (ruffle some feathers ) or swimming or just
