  1. Please help me! Let me start off by giving you all a background and then explaining what products I am currently using, so that someone can possibly help me out. I am a 17 year old female. I'm thankful I can at least wear full coverage foundation to cover my scarring and acne when I go to school every day but you can still see bumps and scars through it... I've been breaking out since I was 13. It has been an uphill battle since middle school. Of course it was never this bad. I would stil
  2. Hey everyone! My skin seems to have a very difficult time dealing with the marks acne leaves behind. As of today, I don't really break out anymore. But past breakouts have left behind numerous marks, especially on both sides of my cheek. I've had the same dark marks on my cheeks for several months, and they don't seem to be going away. Some of them even feel indented just a bit, which is something new to me. Does anyone have any idea or tips on how to help fade these marks? I currently u
  3. So about 1.5 weeks ago I popped a white head that was on my cheek and since then after that it has been red, painful and hard. I had not been doing anything besides washing it with my Clarisonic but yesterday I decided to put hot cotton ball to the area in hopes of decresing the swelling and getting out what was inside of this huge red swollen bump while I believe is infected. After 1 day of putting the hot cotton ball on the site my swollen bump has increased in size and it is now more red ev
  4. Hi guys! So I'm pretty brand new here. I've been lurking the forums trying to find a solution to my annoying scars, but so far, without success. From what I've read, I've kind of self-diagnosed my scars as hypertrophic (if I'm wrong, by all means, please correct me!) I've had them on my upper back for about 4 maybe 5 years now, and it's such a pain looking for clothes to cover it up during the summer Attached below I have some pictures (let me know if I can take better ones to hel
  5. Handling Hyperpigmentation

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), the dark spots or red spots that are left after acne lesions heal, develops when the inflammation inherent in acne lesions causes skin cells to produce more melanin, which is the pigment that gives skin its color. An increased amount of melanin makes the skin appear darker. These marks are sometimes referred to as "macules" and can last for months or even years in some cases. Hyperpigmentation is common among people of African,...

    Scar Faders!

Okay, so my cystic flax seed breakout has gotten better, and I really don't want to have scars when I am going to the caribbean in a week! So, I have done some research and: massaging is good for scars because it promotes healing http://www.naturaltherapypages.co.uk/article/Scar_Massage MSM mixed with real fresh squeezed lemon juice, works as a little mini peal and MSM is great for promoting healing http://www.silvermedicine.org/msm-natural-sulphur.html I will updateeee
  7. Has anyone had any scarring similar to this and if so, what did you do to remove them. Any prouducts or skin care routine, food, etc. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. So there was a small blackhead on my forehead that honestly wasn't even that noticeable. I, stupidly, tried to pop it. It worked... sorta. The blackhead is gone, but now I am left with this massive dark spot on my forehead. Is there any way to get rid of this? Thanks.
  9. I have been using epiduo for about a month now. It has helped tremendously with my closed comes ones and inflamed acne but however has also left a lot of hyperpigmentation. Now I'm curious if Epiduo will work for that. Because I do know adapalene is a retinoid and works by exfoliating the skin BUT it also contains benzoyl peroxide which I have heard is bad for marks and makes them linger around for longer. So I'm curious if Epiduo will work to get rid of PIH (dark marks).
  10. Hi my name is Shekeita and this is my first post here. About 6 months ago my skin went crazy on me. went from never getting a pimple even as a teen to getting crazy breakout on my forehead, nose and cheeks. The bumps arent cystic but they are small white heads/clogged pores. they sometimes turn to bigger red and painful bumps. my forehead, chin and nose are the worst. I now have dark spots all over from them even when i didnt pop them. I didnt change my diet, detergents, skincare or etc. I never

  12. Latino Skin and Acne

Overview Latino people, just like every other ethnic group, suffer from acne at a high rate.1-5 However, the medical community has performed little research on Latino people with acne, as noted in one recent study.6 According to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, "There is a need to understand the variety of dermatologic disorders that manifest in ethnic groups of non-Caucasian skin types."6 Interestingly, one recent study found that in the United States, Latino people...
