  1. hi guys, I am mid thirties brown man (Indian origin) having some serious back scars. I stupidly went for some hair removal process few months ago and i think that made it look worse. Because of such a bad back i can never take my top off when at beach with family/friends , thought of someone seeing all this make me feel scary and sad. Would appreciate if someone can suggest what options i have to get this fixed/improved. Also would appreciate if someone can tell me whats the technical word
  2. I had this red bump on the side of my face but now it looks darkish. Can anyone tell me what this is and what treatment I can do? In case you're wondering, I never intentionally touch it, I let it be. Also I am Filipino. Here's a pic:
  3. Handling Hyperpigmentation

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), the dark spots or red spots that are left after acne lesions heal, develops when the inflammation inherent in acne lesions causes skin cells to produce more melanin, which is the pigment that gives skin its color. An increased amount of melanin makes the skin appear darker. These marks are sometimes referred to as "macules" and can last for months or even years in some cases. Hyperpigmentation is common among people of African,...
  4. Latino Skin and Acne

Overview Latino people, just like every other ethnic group, suffer from acne at a high rate.1-5 However, the medical community has performed little research on Latino people with acne, as noted in one recent study.6 According to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, "There is a need to understand the variety of dermatologic disorders that manifest in ethnic groups of non-Caucasian skin types."6 Interestingly, one recent study found that in the United States, Latino people...
  5. Black Skin and Acne

Overview Acne is the most common skin disorder in black adolescents and black adults and is often the primary reason for a visit to a doctor or dermatologist, according to several studies.1-5 Expand to read details of studies According to the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, "Acne vulgaris is an extremely common dermatological problem in Africans and people of African descent worldwide."4Acne is also the most common skin disease in people with...
  6. I have been using a 10% benzoyl peroxide gel for 2 days. I put it over some of my acne spots and left it overnight. This morning I woke up with huge red/brown angry marks over where I put the gel. They aren't raised or painful, just ugly and dark. What are they, are they permanent, and how can I make them go away?? Please help!
  7. Has anyone had any scarring similar to this and if so, what did you do to remove them. Any prouducts or skin care routine, food, etc. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hey guys! For over a year now, I have had a small-medium patch of tiny little bumps (almost like white heads) and darker pigmented skin in the area on my cheek! The reason I've only started worrying now, is because it seems to have spread on to my other cheek (refer to 2nd photo) and ignore my lil bit of peach fuzz in photos! The patch is not painful, or itchy, it's just kind of there! I tried apple cider vinegar and betamethasone, toothpaste, the whole nine yards. If anyone has any suggestions
  9. Please help me! Let me start off by giving you all a background and then explaining what products I am currently using, so that someone can possibly help me out. I am a 17 year old female. I'm thankful I can at least wear full coverage foundation to cover my scarring and acne when I go to school every day but you can still see bumps and scars through it... I've been breaking out since I was 13. It has been an uphill battle since middle school. Of course it was never this bad. I would stil
  10. I have been struggling with acne for the past year and a half. It has been an emotional roller coaster that has made me depressive. It all began when I stopped using birth control after having used it for seven years. My skin eventually improved after using natural methods like ACV, clay masks, oils, and accupunture. I only needed a little concealer to feel comfortable leaving the house. That was 4 –6 months ago. 2 months ago, my skin took a turn for the worse and I developed cystic acne all ove
  11. Hi all, I've been getting these dark spots and bumps on my inner thighs since I was younger, like around 6 or 7. 10 years down the line, they've worsened. It's humiliating going out. I never wear short clothing, nor do I go to the beach or anything like that because of this embarrassment. I don't wear a lot of tight clothing, I know they're not ingrown hairs because they're not painful. They're just there. Sometimes, they'll be reddish bumps, so maybe heat? Other than that, these black bumps/
  12. Ive had this cyst on my face for a couple months, its a shiny, smooth, flesh colored bump on my face. But recently in the last 2 months it got bigger and its really annoying. Ive been applying BP to it for months but no progress. Ive just recently bought a bottle of Bragg's ACV unfiltered, unpasteurized, raw and mixed with some water and applied it to my cyst for the past week and now its somewhat flatter and smoother and also turned dark!? Does this mean its working? Or is this a chemical burn?
  13. So there was a small blackhead on my forehead that honestly wasn't even that noticeable. I, stupidly, tried to pop it. It worked... sorta. The blackhead is gone, but now I am left with this massive dark spot on my forehead. Is there any way to get rid of this? Thanks.
  14. Hello, For the last 2-3 months I have noticed these little red circular spots that appear and disappear under neath my eyes. It has happened to both eyes, but currently I have one larger red spot underneath my right eye. I have tried benzoyl peroxide, lemon, ice, and even cortisone cream. However, while the rest of my face has no acne, this little sucker won't budge. I do take oral contraceptives and I do currently take seasonal allergy meds. The red spot is not raised, I have tried steam but n
  15. Hey everyone! So i'm on my second month on accutane . I'm taking 60mg (20mg three times) a day . I'm an African American with naturally light-medium brown skin tone. However, in one month alone my face has turned 4 shades darker no joke. It looks absolutely horrible and it's only my face that has turned this dark. I do use sunscreen spf 30 religiously and the longest i spend in the sun is maybe 5 min and that's walking to and from class on campus. I know accutane makes your skin more sensitive,
  16. I'm on my second month and in a week or so ill be on my third(March 10). My skin is getting so much darker, its ridiculous I'm a very light brown and now suddenly very dark and everyone has been noticing it and in some cases making fun of me. I don't really care though but will my skin every go back? How long, I'm so close to taking a week break from the regimen but I don't want to make a horrible mistake! Any help? I also tested the regimen on my neck and its 100 percent the regimen that's maki
  17. Hi everyone, Iam on 3rd week of acne.org regimen. My skin has became very dry and super flaky. Also my complexion has became very dark....its brown :(..please suggest should I discontinue it..I have seen many videos and read reviews everyone mention that skin dries out crazily. That should be fine but I don't like changing of complexion.. Which is very noticeable.. Is anybody facing same problem of skin darkening????
  18. I am on my second month of the acne.org regime. My skin peels a lot and I also use a generous amount of moisturizer. But due to the moisturizer my skin looks oily all day long, when I am at work or outside. The oil also attracts dirt and skin looks dark after a while. I try to keep the skin untouched and do nothing to get rid of the oil from my skin. Have others experienced the same and are there any tips to avoid this ? Please help!
  20. Hi. This is my first time. So the picture might look like a little more redder than it is in real life. But I pretty much don't have active acne in my inner thighs but I have marks and it's dark. I really wanna get rid of it can you offer advice products etc
  21. Taken 40mg accutane isotretinoin for 2 weeks and my face has gotten 3 shades darker but the rest of my body is normal. I do use the highest strength sun screen. I have an appointment in 3 weeks but do i need to stop taking accutane. Has this happened to anyone else? and does it go away afer stopping accutane? -John
  22. Hey I have been using azelaic acid for a few weeks now however am not seeing the results I expected. I also use tretinoin at night. I was wondering if I can use hydroquinone with tretinoin at night and azelaci acid in the morning. Also if someone could recommend a good sunscreen please!
  23. I have been using epiduo for about a month now. It has helped tremendously with my closed comes ones and inflamed acne but however has also left a lot of hyperpigmentation. Now I'm curious if Epiduo will work for that. Because I do know adapalene is a retinoid and works by exfoliating the skin BUT it also contains benzoyl peroxide which I have heard is bad for marks and makes them linger around for longer. So I'm curious if Epiduo will work to get rid of PIH (dark marks).
  24. Hey everyone! My skin seems to have a very difficult time dealing with the marks acne leaves behind. As of today, I don't really break out anymore. But past breakouts have left behind numerous marks, especially on both sides of my cheek. I've had the same dark marks on my cheeks for several months, and they don't seem to be going away. Some of them even feel indented just a bit, which is something new to me. Does anyone have any idea or tips on how to help fade these marks? I currently u
  25. Hi guys! So I'm pretty brand new here. I've been lurking the forums trying to find a solution to my annoying scars, but so far, without success. From what I've read, I've kind of self-diagnosed my scars as hypertrophic (if I'm wrong, by all means, please correct me!) I've had them on my upper back for about 4 maybe 5 years now, and it's such a pain looking for clothes to cover it up during the summer Attached below I have some pictures (let me know if I can take better ones to hel
