  1. Hi- I'm an american living in Thailand and my roommate who does not speak English is struggling with very bad cystic Acne. I've been trying to help her research solutions... she's done antibiotics, all sorts of OTC face wash regimens (including proactiv) with out any success. So I'm writing on her behalf... (That's a sort of long story to explain why I'm writing "She" instead of "I".) She's just started a natural regimen using honey to cleanse, ACV as a toner, and a combo of teatree o

    Balancing period after amenorrhea

A few years ago I started over-exercising and lost a ton of weight which was a possible cause of losing my period. I was also extremely stressed during that time so that could be a reason too. Even though I didn't have my period for 3 years I didn't have a single breakout or health problem during the whole time. Recently I've gained a big of weight and got my period back along with all sorts of skin problems I've never had before. Around Day 21 of my approximately 30 day cycle I usually star
  3. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion
  4. Help guys, I've seen online about how people dry their acne out by using toothpaste, I gave it a try and it burned my skin! Now there's like brownish dark patches on the acne and they don't seem to go away :'( I'm really scared. And i had this boil/cystic acne , that didn't had a head to pop, but I forcefully popped it because it is as hurting too much. And now it's turned really red and dark. It's still swollen like how it was before I popped it. When I popped it, only blood oozed out. It was r
  5. I spent the first few minutes of the new year crying. Yup, I sobbed because my skin was not what I wanted it to be before the new year hit. I decided not to wear makeup that day, and the harsh reality of my acne just teared me apart. I whimpered along my cousins shoulder, and hugged after talking to her about my self esteem issues. With much encouragement, she advised I move on and keep on finding something that can help me out without going to see a dermatologist. I tried my best and looked up

Hello all! It's been a good 3 years since I've been on this site. The last time I was here was to share my Accutane experience with you all (refer to last posts, if interested). Just my luck, I am beginning to experience mild cystic acne, AGAIN It started back a few months ago and I hoped they would clear up on their own but it is starting to really flare up so I decided to visit my derm. Before Accutane, I was put on 3 different antibiotics at 3 different times before they stopped working
  7. Hi fellow humans. I would just like to share my thoughts on Accutane and tell a little bit about my experience on it so hopefully I can help any others considering taking it! I've been off of accutane for a little over 3 years now. I pursued taking accutane because I was dealing with a moderate amount of cystic acne on my face at the time (mainly in cheek pockets and on my forehead). My main goal was to take it, deal with whatever side effects that came with it, and get rid of my acne for good
  8. Hi guys, so, it has been hard. You know, we are in the New Year and I really want clear skin. I started my New Year crying because of my cystic acne. I am extremely exhausted because of how much time the acne.org regimen takes. Plus, my skin just seems to not get better at all. So, I have decided to try something else other than the acne.org regimen. With much research, I have decided to use these products: - Cerave Cleanser - Thayers Witch Hazel with Rose Petal - Dead Sea Mud Mask - Jojoba
  9. Hi, I just wanted to share my experience as I spent about 6 months searching through this site and reading other people’s experiences and treatment options for dealing with adult acne. To sum up my situation, out of nowhere in August 2016 at the age of 26 I developed severe cystic acne, having never experience more than one of two spots with my monthly cycle my entire life. I broke up with my partner after almost 8 years, and think that may have had a massive effect on my body in general. The lu
  10. Hi... i know that i said i was going to start this ages ago, and i did... but instead of making up excuses im just going to tell the truth to you guys: i couldn't get over the redness factor so i stopped. i just couldn't bear to have my friends look at me and go 'wtf is wrong with you?' Im just so insecure about my acne. I dont have a huge amount of acne, but its my 1 achilles heel that can bring me down to the floor and drag me across it. So i've always stopped when the symptoms get overwhelmin
  11. Heyyy all my acne friends!! I'm new to this page and wish I could get some help! 1,5 years ago I were prescripted antibiotics (tetralysal) for mine at that time moderate acne! I think that was the worst decision of my life, it made my face break out like never before and didn't even improve as I continued with the pills... today I still have acne not as bad as when on the tetralysal but still pretty bad for me and enough bad to destroy sooo much in my life! Depression etc from this... I have bee

    Day 2

I hardly expected to see any changes yet here we are! I have been taking the akamin antibiotics in the morning and at night i use the epiduo. This morning i have noticed small pimples coming up with white heads. I am hoping this is just the treatment bringing out the acne - my gp did say the acne may become worse before it gets better. I clean my face with a cleanser and a scrub in the morning and night and i used a tea tree toner afterwards. I have noticed the toner helps reduce rednes

    Day 3

Today i woke up with some discomfort and when i looked in the mirror i had noticed a lot of redness/irritation around my mouth, chin and a bit on my cheeks. Usually i would cleanse my skin morning and night but this morning i tried to use my cleanser (i have never had an issue with it) and to my horror it made my skin feel like it was burning! I washed it off with cool water and let it dry. Now i am having some intense peeling in the areas that were red and irritated. I made an appointment

    First 7 weeks

Week 1-3: So I started out like a lot of other people thinking that I could apply Epiduo twice a day and get quicker results and boy was I wrong. My face burned so badly and itched like crazy these first few weeks. I experienced TERRIBLE peeling and flaking which was highlighted by make up. But there was no way in HELL I was going out in public without make up to at least cover the redness. So after about a week and a half of applying the cream twice a day I went down to just at night and I was

    Adult acne struggles

Hello everyone, hope you are well! I think we can all agree that acne sucks, right? It can cause you to feel self conscious, suffer with anxiety and cause long term self image issues - Along with many other feelings. I decided to make this blog because i have just started medication to try clear up my skin. ***disclaimer*** I understand that different things work for different people/different skin types and not all products with effect an individual in the same way, this is what has

    Severe cystic acne

Hey, so for a few years since I hit puberty I had maybe 1 or 2 cysts around my month .. but fairly clear skin. It was very clear .. i was waking up same time everyday.. eating balanced diet same exact time everyday ( as I was in hospital for about 6 months doing same routine everyday) Suddenly.. about 2 months ago when i got home my face just got all these cysts on my cheeks? Then my period came 2 weeks early.. It could be that my sleep pattern messed up.. and my diet messed up.. eating junk fo
  18. Hi all! I've been suffering with acne for most of my life, it started when I was around 11 and obviously got increasingly worse over time. By the time I was at the end of middle school, I had HORRIBLE cystic acne all over my face. If I had a penny every time I heard the jibe "pizza face" I'd probably be a billionaire. I was finally able to see a dermatologist during my Junior year of high school and have been seeing them ever since (I'm currently a Junior in Undergrad). When I first met wit
  19. CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP IVE HAD THIS CYST ON MY NOSE FOR A MONTH AND HALF NOW A WEEK AGO I WENT TO GET A STEROID SHOT. It only shrunk in size but didn't flatten now it goes up and down in the size daily but regardless it's still noticeable. What can I do what should I be doing please help!
  20. Hey guys, I'm 20 years old and have never had body acne, and when I did have facial acne it has been very mild. However, recently I've had a few cystic acne spells, but only in groups of 3 or 4 and only on my face. Today I woke up and had no acne, but as the day progressed something happened where I all of the sudden had massive cystic pimples all over my back and smaller ones on my arm. These feel like cystic acne, but I'm wondering if it could be something else like hives from an allergic reac
  21. Hello all, thank you in advance to any responses! Attached is a picture of my problem. I was wondering if anyone could shed light as to what this is and how i can treat/manage it. I have lots of redness under my eyes along with little white dots that are located in the redness. I have always had it and was curious what its called and possibly if its acne related (which i have bad acne all on my chin, nose, forehead) Thanks alot

Before starting the regimen, I used to suffer from horrible cystic acne and scarring. I had a bad breakout when I was 15 that eventually cleared up, and then I had another lousy breakout when I was 18. I was extremely self-conscious about my acne, and I tried numerous remedies to help make it go away. When I had my last breakout in the first year of college (as pictured above), I didn't even want to go to class. I booked an appointment at my local skin doctor's office, and they helped me clear m
  23. Hi, I purchased an La Roche Posay Effaclar 3 pack at Walgreens for 29.99 which included a cleanser, astringent and spot treatment. I have cystic acne and already am using Tazorac and Retin-A from my dermatologist, however this Effaclar, in only 4 days of use has highly improved the tone of my skin, the existence of blackheads, and the size of my cysts. It uses salicylic acid with a delivery system is LHA and has BPO with a delivery system of LHA as well. If you're nice to the Walgreens pers
  24. Hello everyone, So I struggled with cystic acne all over my face and decided to go on the medication Accutane. I am taking a 40mg dosage and this is my 3rd month on the medication. I am also on a birth control pill as well. This month was weird... my period came a week early so I decided to skip my placebo pills( because who wants their period twice in one month)? Anyways, since then I have been "spotting" ever since its like my period is never ending. Its been about 2 -3 weeks now and I am ge
