  1. I have always had clogged pores on my skin. I have tried many things to try and cure it but then it only makes it work. I just leave it alone, but sometimes cystic acne pops up and I don't know what to do about it. This has been going on for almost 2 years and I still don't know what to do. This morning I realized that a pimple popped up. Help?
  2. I am new to writing on these forums and I'm not sure if anyone will read it but I thought I may as well give it a go. Firstly I thought I would describe my situation. I am 17 and have had mild acne for most of my high school life. Six months ago I was reffered to a skin specialist by my gp after my acne became progressively worse even after being on a number of different antibiotics. When I saw the derm she put me on 10mg of isotretinoin, 10mg of prednisone and 400mg erythromycin. After 1 mon
  3. I have Posted this in the reviews for this website. I would also like some feedback and recommendations from you guys. (: Thank you! First, I want to share my background. I have never had a problem with acne. I have always had very smooth clear skin, with an occasional outbreak. I started washing with proactive in 2006 when I was 18 for prevention of those minor outbreaks (I don't recommend this because it destroys your skins natural barrier). Two years ago, in 2011, I started getting a cys
  4. So basically, a few months ago i had a horrible cystic breakout, and for a while i've been left with some prominent hyerpigmentation. Progress has been rather slow, and i have noticed subtle fading with the help of prescribed Azelaic Acid. Yet every time i look in a mirror, i become fearful that when these marks do leave, i will be left with more permanent scarring. If any of you could take a look, and from personal, or secondary experience suggest whether i should worry or not, that would b

  6. I've been a follower of these boards for several months now and know many of your stories ... stalker much, right? L0L So tomorrow morning I will go and pick up my first round of accutane; really excited and nervous also!! I've tried it all and this is the last option to get rid of my acne. Hmm ...I hate that word-acne; along with bumps, pimples, cysts, whiteheads, blackheads, knots!! I just really dont want to have to use any of them again!! I know, impossible dream!! Anyways, back to my acne,

    How Do I Fix This?

Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've used this website to do some research on the Regimen and just acne in general. I need help classifying what my type of acne is, moderate or severe or maybe in between.. and with that, I want to know the best way to tackle this. I guess I'm sort of lucky, as I've only had acne for about ~6 months. I'm 17. I have a picture back in November where I barely have any acne, just a few pimples! And also a few photos I took this morning, for a comparison. And boy is

How I Got Rid Of My Acne

Like many of you, I too used to suffer from acne. My acne was almost non-existent on the left cheeck, but my right cheeck was severely damaged. There was never a period of more than 3 or 4 days when I didn't get a new pimple to join my old ones. My acne was mostly under the skin, the kind that hurts upon touching. Needless to say, being a girl that caused a huge blow on my self esteem. Cutting to the chase, I am sooo happy to say that I am clear now. My struggle with acne includes severa
  9. Hi guys, need your advice. I've suffering with cystic acne for around 3 years. Checked my hormones - everything is normal, slightly high FSH. Otherwise it's all fine. But I still breakout in the middle of my cycle on my cheeks like crazy. I have a huge red mark on my right cheek now and I simply want to cry. I have done everything: natural approach, tcm, diet. Name it. I can't find the cause. I am also very slim because of dieting. Red somewhere that not enough fat in a body can cause hormon
  10. Okay so I'm 15 and I've had acne since I was like 10... it really sucks. It has left me with no self confidence at all. I've gotten bullied for it and I literally can hardly look in the mirror without wanting to cry its gotten so bad. I need some kind of help... nothing works for me. I've tried natural remedies like the caveman regimen, african black soap, tons of homeade masks, and the OCM. I've tried some lush products, proactiv, and all the drugstore brands. A nurse told me to try just plain
  11. I've had cystic acne since I was about 12. I'm 21 now and I rarely break out in cyst. Just one or two a month or so. I mainly just have to deal with redness or dark marks that they leave. I recently stopped using over the counter acne washes and using only the cetaphil antibacterial bar. My skin has cleared almost entirely of these little colorless bumps I had and excess oil (no more shiny face) I even stopped wearing foundation, just powder and cover up to diminish the look of redness/scars. Hello, i am new and need some advice/guidance. I am currently 23 female with cystic acne. I have had acne since I was 10-11 started puberty at 9. It wasn't too bad looking back on it it was normal zits that went away. 2 years around I started getting hard lumps on my face that would come to a head. I have tried so many options from over the counter to holistic and fitness
  13. Hi everyone i used to be a long time lurker here. I haven't visited this site in maybe 4 months because my condition has improved significantly. As i have never posted before i will fill everyone in on my past experiences. From the age of 13 my acne has become worse and worse. I had cystic acne all over my face, which at most times made it extremely painful to smile. I wouldn't look people in the eye, would hate going out to dinner with my parents and would spend all nights in my room instead of

  15. i have battled with cystic acne since my 20's... i have tried many things including orals and changes in diet... but it seems a combination of retina a + bencaclyn is the best thing for me. at 35 i felt like i had my cystic acne semi under control. i seemed to have one month of ok skin, one month of alright skin, and one month where everything was a mess... the biggest bummer is the discoloration caused from cysts + malasma has really taken a toll on my complexion... but hoping laser will help w
  16. For years I thought that I would always have horrible acne-- it was something that I struggled with ever since hitting puberty, and it didn't show any sign of letting up. That is-- until I found the acne.org regimen. I wish that this was the end of the story; that ever since then I was able to feel comfortable going out without makeup on, and finally that I was able to feel comfortable in my own skin. Literally. Unfortunately, about a month ago, all of the success I've had with my acne regimen h
  17. Hey all. I am in my late 20's- Female- I started breaking out BAD about 2 years ago. Only on my chin cheeks and jawline, which I always read is hormonal. But its not just around that time of the month, its always. I have tons a hard cystic acne, rarely ever coming to a head, now scarring (and I don't pick) and leaving marks behind. It's MOSTLY on my left cheek and I wash my pillow cases, and clean my phone all the time. I've tried everything from Expensive brands, cheap brands,

    Cystic Acne Story

I really need help figuring out what is going on with my skin. Ever since I was a pre teen I remember having pimples on my chin, but only on my chin. I figured it was just hormones and it never really bothered me. Then I started breaking out on my back. Just in this past year or two, I've been experiencing a LOT of nausea and motion sickness that I never had as a child. I also feel very dizzy when I do things when I never used to have a problem even at amusement parks on every single ride.
  19. Soooooo, the time has come, yet again. I've been using the DK regimen for about four weeks now but I've been breaking out this week (I reckon it's a hormonal thing) and I've basically gotten a pimple right where I used to have a cyst that is kinda dormant (oddly enough, it's the only place I've ever gotten a cyst on my face). If only it were just a pimple, I can see it getting redder and more inflamed by the hour Is there anything I can do to catch it before it gets super inflamed
  20. Hey guys! I'm an aspiring medical doctor (applying soon!!) and I'm very excited to be finally on board at acne.org. First of all, I used to suffer from cystic acne CONSTANTLY. I tried everything. I mean, it's literally been 7 years. I'm now 21, and I've finally figured out what was causing my acne. Before I get too ahead of myself, I just wanted to ask any of you a few questions.. Do any of you know of any articles/ research papers relating gluten (glutenen and gliadin proteins) to i
  21. My doctor put me on birth control (ortho-tricyclen) after my first period in middle school. Fast forward - clear skin for almost my entire life until I turn 19 and decide I don't need to be on synthetic hormones. Three months later, cystic acne all over my cheeks, jawline, and neck. Sound familiar? Straight away I go to the derm. Get put back on ortho-tri. I stayed on the ortho tri only to experience mediocre results, then moved onto yaz for three months which caused a literal facial explosion

    Hormonal Acne Sos

Hello there! I NEED HELP! I didn't have much of a problem during my teenage years. 1 to 3 acnes during the time of the month, and they get cleared pretty quickly too. I started having more breakouts when I reached my 20s. Most of the time around my jawline and chin area. Once, I touched makeup for the first time and my face broke up with many tiny little bumps. I immediately seek a doctor and was prescribe a gentle form of antibiotic known as tetracycline. And I was cleared. Happened e
