  1. Hi all, I just wrote a tutorial on my blog for covering acne- with pictures and a step by step guide. Feel free to check it out. I used to be a professional makeup artist and also have acne- its actually not too bad at the moment but has been severe in the past. Whilst I'm having a flare up I thought it would be a good time to create a picture tutorial: www.4loveofmakeup.wordpress.com Here are some product recommendations- i swear by these! Laura Mercier Secret Camoflage conc
  2. Hey everyone, I am needed some help in the acne vs makeup battle. First, does anyone know of any good concealers that actually cover and stay put? I have tried a few and I put it on the pimple and as soon as I blend it in it somehow it just surrounds the perimeter of the pimple and I am left with a red bump with a cakey ring around it. The foundation I use is the L'oreal True Match Lumi Cushion because it is the least cakey I could find and it doesn’t stick to the dryness caused by Epidu
  3. Hey all, I've been super curious about how much coverage everyone here wants when it comes to putting on makeup for acne. From what I've seen a lot of, it seems that people use makeup that gives full coverage (full opacity) to hide acne. I wonder what everyone's take is on that? Do you cover fully or just enough to hide acne? I just feel like I'm one of the few people who, in my more recent years, have slowly gone from full coverage to medium to light coverage because I'd rather my skin lo

    DAY 29

I put make up on today for the first time in a few days and I'm really happy with how my skin looks underneath It kind of just looks like I'm somebody who has had a breakout! No dryness either! I get a little on my cheek and eyelids the odd time, but nothing that moisturiser won't fix
  5. Okay so first, my questions: Does anyone have any advice for applying makeup when using topicals? What kind of moisturizer works the best for keeping skin hydrated and wearing underneath makeup? Here's a little background if you're interested: I've been using Duac and Retin-A as a regimen for the past few weeks (I was initially on Differin and then switched to Retin-A, but I've been using Topicals since April) and while my acne is subsiding, I do have a lot of pigmentation and unevenes
  6. Has anyone seen this video yet? It makes me really emotional because this is how I feel everyday https://www.youtube.com/embed/WWTRwj9t-vU
  7. I have been using the product on the left for over a year and it's the best foundation I've ever tried. My dermatologist recommended it to me a year ago because I asked him about a full-coverage makeup. The coverage over acne is amazing compared to some other foundations I have tried over a few years. I ran out the other day and I went to the pharmacy to buy more and the woman told me about the new one Vichy have just brought out (photo on the right). Their new foundation is specifically
  8. So which health insurances cover accutane and all of that in australia? and if so how much did you pay with cover as well as without?
  9. Hello everyone. So unfortunately my skin is getting worse again and I need higher coverage than my current BB Cream that I've been using for the past year can provide. Does anyone have any recommendations for a light liquid foundation or potentially a high coverage BB Cream that doesn't break you out? My skin is also really oily so anything that reduces shine is a bonus and long-wearing with spf because I do lots of exercise and outdoor stuff, but main thing is that it doesn't break me out. Tha

    DAY 2

So it's the evening of day 2. I've taken my third tablet about two hours ago, but because I take them so late I'm writing on this kind of a day later so I can give myself the full time to record! sorry if that's confusing haha Last night I took my second pill of Roaccutane (20mg). After a while I got an extremely sore throat (I presume a side effect!) and by the time I was going to bed I was exhausted and very lethargic. I woke up today with this horrible spot on my cheek! It's one of those
  11. Hey!! I wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations for makeup foundations that won't break out my moderate-severe acne prone skin. I did some research and found that Laura Mercier's Silk Creme Oil free Foundation works wonders and has great coverage for scars/pimples (oil free, spf 30, matte). Also, I've always used Giorgio Armani's Maestro foundation and I was not sure if giving Laura Mercier a try or continuing this one. It never breaks me out and it's not oil free, but it's a lightweig
  12. I'm currently on my 6th month of Accutane, going good, scars are still pretty vivid but the amount of pimples has decreased greatly. As my skin gets better, I started to think of some of the things that I am now thankful for, in terms of my acne. I've had it pretty bad for four years straight and would still give anything to have never had it at all, but just thinking positively, these are some of those things: Learning to apply makeup: After around 3 years of covering these suckers up e

  14. Does Makeup Help with Self-esteem When You Have Acne?

Research shows that having acne can seriously lower a person's self-esteem, in other words, her sense of his own worth and importance.1-3 A paper published in the International Journal of Women's Dermatology in 2017 analyzed 13 studies looking at self-confidence in acne patients. The researchers concluded that acne damages the self-image of people in all age groups, especially in women and people suffering from severe acne. The study authors wrote, "Our research included data from 13 studies...
  15. Every single time I put on my makeup it comes out like this. (Reference Picture) My mom told me it was because my foundation was old so I bought I new one but It still wouldn't come out right. Someone else told me it was because I need to exfoliate but that doesn't seem to work either. I do not use primer all I use it foundation on my face. Any suggestions on how to fix this?!
  16. Hi, I can't figure out how to search these boards to know what's been covered? I wanted to ask you all about clothing lines/sites you like to get your clothes from that can cover chest and back acne. I need coverage enough that a full t-shirt covers - but want cuter options than just t-shirts. Thanks!!!
