  1. I have used accutane twice in the past when I had really bad cystic acne. The 1st time was Jr year of high school and then the 2nd course was Sr year of college. I'd say that after each course, the amount/type of acne that inevitably came back was milder and less in number - but it did come back... Before my first coure, I had acne on my upper chest, upper shoulders and some on my back; after that course, the acne never really came back on those areas. I took my 2nd course mainly because I wa
  2. I have 15 days left of my accutane course however I just got a bump on my chest which I am assuming is a cyst. It kind of happened out of the blue, and I'm scared to death because my accutane course was even extended from 4.5 month course to a 5.5 course (I took 80mg/day during the entire course), It is one of two active pimples that i have (the other is a minor one on my forehead) that I think are a result from my workout plan. At the end of December, I started to go on a bulk by eating
  3. So today is exactly 8 weeks since I took my first isotretinoin dose. I have had no noticeable improvement since my last blog entry a week ago, or indeed the start of my course, so it appears my improvement will not happen in an early month as it does for others, but nonetheless I will continue I had my 3rd dermatologist appointment yesterday. It was pretty simple- she asked about my side effects and to rate them as mild, moderate or severe. I tried to avoid the severe word as I didn't feel l
  4. Hi, I've been on accutane for 3 months now, after a month and half my skin had completed cleared up. I don't have a spot in site now. The first nurse (I've never actually seen the doctor, which worries me) told me 4 months, the next told me 5 and now another is telling me 6. I'm a little bit confused as to why I have to stay on it for so long. My joints hurt so much, I now waddle and limp because my body is in so much pain. I suffer from eczema, but my body is now covered, I've tried so many m
  5. Brief history - I've had acne since 6th grade (about to go into 9th). No cystic acne but I had pretty moderate persistent acne. My face was also disgustingly oily, I'm talking practically dripping and hour after I put on my makeup! I started accutane beginning in feb. 2012. My skin cleared up within the first 2 months and I didn't get a SINGLE pimple. My skin was flawless and the oily sheen was gone! I was beyond happy! I was supposed to do 9 months but I only ended up doing 7... on the month w
  6. Hi everyone, I've done two courses of Accutane in my life time, one long one and then one shorter one a year later to finish it off. (see older posts for details). It's been exactly a year since my last pill and I am noticing some definite side effects just kicking in as of recently. The side effects are annoying but pretty easy to cope with from a day to day basis... Here are the symptoms I've noticed since stopping accutane: Dry eyes Dry skin Tingles (hands, feet, face) Dizziness T
  7. It's been 8 years since my 2nd course of Accutane and I likely have forgotten some of the most important tips to make the process safe and least likely to generate bad side effects. Please let me know what I am missing from my list below and correct things as needed: Do not take a multi-vitamin that has vitamin A in it; but are other vitamins (zinc, D3, B5, etc ok to take while on Accutane?) Are there any foods that should be avoided while on Accutane? I think I recall that it me
  8. I've struggled with cystic acne for about 3 years, in the second year which was last year i decided to visit a private dermatologist as I was recommended one by my cousin who also sorted out her acne. Before going to the dermatologist I had been on countless treatments both over the counter and prescribed by my GP (duac gel and differin are the ones I remember being prescribed but I've also been prescribed others containing benzoyl peroxide and over the counter treatments include sudocrem, basic
  9. I just wanted to share my story and say how accutane was the single-handed best decision of my life. I suffered from mild acne throughout high school, but got worse around my junior year. Once I started getting it pretty bad, I went on antibiotics. Let me just say this: ANTIBIOTICS ARE THE DEVIL. Speaking from personal experience, they temporary cleared my acne, but then a year and a half later it came back way worse. I really do think antibiotics create these immune bacteria which will even
  10. Hey everyone! I took my first course of accutane a little less than 2 years ago! I had TERRIBLE acne, but it cleared me up really well! After being off of accutane for about a year, I started to break out again. Now, even though I am not nearly as bad as I was the first time around, I am at the point where taking a second course would benefit me! I'm taking half the dosage I did the first time (I took 40 MG twice a day, but now I will be taking 40 MG once a day!) I just started today, and
  11. Hey, im currently on my 4th month of accutane and my last month ,for small persistent acne, ? that was my derm told me, i currently have almost 0 acne on my face, some little pimples sometime, but they go away fast. i just got clearer like a week or 2 ago and before that i had a small breakout on my cheeks. im just curious as if my derm is stopping me too soon ? im 140 pounds and taking 40mg/day like i dont wanna stop too soon cause im clear and then have a massive breakout a month afte
  12. Main question: is spironolactone like accutane where you take a "course" of it and then you're finished? Or is it something you just have to keep on taking...? About me: acne since middle school (7th/8th grade) I am now 22. Was on accutane for 6 months, ended around November 2013. It is now July 2014 and my acne has been coming back (although not as bad) It started with the oiliness coming back and then breaking out around May 2014. I'm considering a second course of accutane but have just
  13. Here it is, my second course of Accutane. This is for mild/somewhat moderate at times acne. My acne is not as bad now as it was when I went on my first course at 17 years of age. Day 1: 6/19/17 Course Length: 6 Months 26 Year Old Male: 150lbs 40mg Claravis 30 day supply: ~$225 No Insurance As of today, I'm getting over a pretty bad breakout that was happening on my forehead and temples probably exacerbated by the "natural" pomade that I was using. I have a whitehead on the left si
  14. hey guys im 136 pounds, 5'10, did 40mg for 4 months, ended in end of july. got back on the tane beggining of november cause some small pimples were forming , no major breakouts but i know these were kinda a sign since there was no week where i would have 100% clear skin. after my first round, by the end of it i developped some facial flushing, cheek and nose, when i get shy by something or thing like that. thing were under control tho and it was slowly less frequent now im on the tane
  15. hey guys, im 140 lbs, was on accutane 40mg/day for 4 months, ended in end of july. been pimples free for 3 months then acne slowly came back but really small and i tried new products too, so might caused breakouts. at the moment i dont have much pimples, maybe 3 small, normally they go away fast. but i cant have a week without a new one coming out. even if they fade away quick. so ive been back to my derm and asked him about a second course since it was slowly creepin back ! should
  16. Hello. So I have left this kind of late, as I'm already on my 2nd month of roaccutane, but oh well better late than never. My first month I was taking 40mg a day and after my first month I started on 60mg a day. At first I was splitting them up and taking 1 pill in the morning and 1 in the evening, but now I'm just taking them altogether. Not sure if it makes any difference, feel free to enlighten me. I've had mild acne since i was about 13, and had a few bad spots here and there until
