  1. I felt that I needed to share my story as a year ago it was me searching acne.org looking for a possible cure, feeling my lowest self esteem I have ever felt, feeling like everyone can see my acne even though I wear make up and feeling like my boyfriend cannot fancy me looking like this. I was willing to give anything ago now as my usual benzoyl peroxide was not working anymore, I went to my doctor who prescribed me epiduo (0.1% adapalene/benzoyl peroxide 2.5%) and started me on the contraceptiv
  2. Hello Everyone, I'm 21 years old and female and I've never suffered with acne (even in my teenage years). Of course, I would sometimes get a pimple or two, but nothing bad. From about age 16-20 I was on and off various birth control (Dianette for a year at first, and then Microgynon 30 for a couple of years) and never really noticed anything in particular affecting my skin. About a year ago I came off Microgynon 30 and didn't notice any real change in my skin other than monthly breakouts (onl
  3. I'm 21 and I think it's been almost 8 years since I've left the house without make-up. My acne started when I was 13. I actually remember being the only girl in my year who wore foundation. How embarrassing is that? Later in high school more girls wore foundation, but there was a year or two where I was the only one. There was even a time where a teacher tried to make me to go the bathroom to wash off my foundation (I only wore foundation and powder for oiliness, no mascara etc.) because
  4. I am 24 years old (female) and have been dealing with adult hormonal acne on my chin/jawline on and off since I was 19. I want to share my story and everything I tried so that I may help someone else who has the same type of acne as me. Reading forums on other people’s acne experience was a huge help for my mental health, it was comforting to know I wasn’t alone (not that I would wish this upon anyone) and it was helpful to learn about the failures and success stories of different acne treat
  5. Hey guys, so it's been maybe about a year and a half that I have suffered with acne, before this I had pretty much clear skin. Over the course of this time I have tried multiple over the counter products aimed at acne to help treat, though these only either did nothing, minor difference or in some cases made my acne worse. I've also used other over the counter treatments that were not aimed at acne but I thought or read about that could help, also tried many home remedies. The regime I'm on no
  6. Hi all. I recently came off the pill (Gedarel) after being on it for about 8 years (my boyfriend has gone travelling, so I don't really need the protection at the moment). I'd never had any sort of breakout while on it, but during my break of about 6 months, my back broke out horrendously with the most painful bacne that crept up my neck and chin. Of course, no over the counter treatments would work, as it's hormonal, so I decided that the only way to solve it would be to go back on the
  7. I have some patchy skin pigmentation ton my face - dark patches on my forehead cheeks and upper lip. I believe it may be caused by my contraceptive pill(dianette) but my issue is that the pill is keeping my Acne at bay. If I stop the pill the pigmentation will fade but my acne will flare up... What can I do to keep both problems away?
  8. Hi everyone, Has anyone ever tried gedarel for hormonal acne? Ive been prescribed the 20/150 dose, but can't find anything about it being beneficial for skin online. Ive been on dianette and Yasmin in the past which have cleared my skin brilliantly but I had a migraine a few years back so I can't be on those anymore. Hence the doctor prescribing me this as it's low dose. If anyone has had had any experience of this, please let me know. Thanks :-)
  9. Hey everyone, I'm new to this so apologies if this has already been discussed. So some history - I've always struggled with acne! I was put on Dianette and then moved to Yasmin after about a year and my skin was amazing! Then 6-8 months ago my doctor moved me off of Yasmin as she said she thought that was why I was getting headaches (turned out I just dehydrate easily). She put me on Cerrazette and then I was put on Cilleste. Worst decision of my life! My skin went from being lovely to
  10. Hey everyone, So I have been on the Pill (Gedarel 20 to be precise, it's a fairly new pill and a low dose oestrogen one) for about 8 months now. I started taking it merely because my last pill gave me bad side effects, so my doctor never prescribed per se for my acne. However, miraculously, after the first day of taking it my skin was clearing! A week later I had no new pimples! However, fast forward to about 2 months ago and I started getting papules on my cheeks (just about one a week max)
  11. As a young teenage girl I tried every standard anti-biotic under the sun and moved to taking the contraceptive pill as a means to reduce acne since I was about 15. I also used Proactive Solution for a few years and together they were very successful, with only a few bumps here and there. I am now 19 and decided to give Accutane a go, as the moment I missed a pill, my acne would appear again. Given that my acne was manageable on the contraceptive pill, I decided that the side effects (dry skin
